Well that's because you just keep making dumb posts.
Anyways, this has probably been asked before at some point in this thread but will the SLAM be added back into the singleplayer campaign? I can't exactly remember why it was cut from HL2 but not HL2DM.
Could the SLAM be the red-lasered tripmines in Nova Prospekt?
Not as a weapon, just for the tripmine.
If not, the tripmines should at least have an actual model, as opposed just a black square.
i think slams would be cool if introduced at the right part of the game.

It would indeed be nice to see the SLAM actually be restored, since those black rectangle boxes are definitely not SLAMs if they have a greater blast radius or cause more damage than the SLAM would.
Better a model than a brush, that's sure.

Parallax or bust
The SLAM should be left out of the game. It was probably removed because it resulted in too many exploits & glitches. But I see no reason why it couldn't be spawned from the console like any other cheat.
what's with all the dumbs? it could just be graffiti sprayed somewhere somewhat hidden
It's the most over-used easter egg ever. The only reason it's popular is because it's a common easter egg. There's really nothing funny, clever or original about it. It's like an old meme that wasn't even funny to begin with.
At least the SLAM is based on the Tripmine, and its "armed" entity name is "npc_tripmine" even in HL2DM... I wonder why all NPC-based entities in GoldSrc started with "monster_####"?

It's even funnier when you know that the SLAM code uses ent_fire commands :v:
But well, they could be some good replacement for the trip mines on prison maps.
The SLAM is used by NPcs.
In Episode 1, when you squeeze past the giant metal wall things, you enter a building after plugging up some antlion whores and you see two combine dudes planting some SLAMs on the wall. Of course, they panic and it all goes to brown town. But they are SLAMs. I think theres some earlier on in Episode 1 as well, in the tunnel.

They're not SLAM's though. They're just func_breakables, and env_explosions with triggers and effects.
The SLAM's are in the room with the collapsing vent where the elevator falls into the water.
Am I weird for wanting the Combine Tripmine to just be fleshed out a bit more instead of replaced by SLAM's?

It doesn't. At least not the HL2MP weapon_slam.

If memory serves me right, those all were same brush based tripmines, and combines just were running duck sequence. In any way, I think Nova Prospekt tripmines should be enhanced to SLAM, it's just that player doesn't get the weapon (It's not really that useful in singleplayer). Could be done both by coding(clever custom implementation of npc_tripmine will save up edicts, but will take time) and mapping(easy and takes less time, but takes more edicts instead).

Make me unsee that.

Hi
[editline]8th May 2014[/editline]
Also I don't think the tripmines should be slams, but instead look like something combiney.
Now that I think about it again, as much as I'd like to see SLAM returning, I feel it shouldn't really happen in the main game.
Instead, as Mr. Someguy suggested, the Combine Tripmine should be given a model and fleshed out.
Funny that theres a suggestion section in Enhancement forum made just to avoid the repetition of spoken ideas is ignored entirely
True we don't want another Fakefactory, plus the Hydra really sucked in game when Valve tried to implement it. It's not even about the Hydra I'm talking about. Just shoutouts as easter eggs is a pretty good idea. Maybe just pieces of graffiti depicting things (Hydra) or even mentioned one. Graffiti making isn't too hard is it? Something like that to please the masses wanting to implement so much.
Though at the end of the day, all easter eggs are up to the devs.
By "pleasing the masses", does "masses" mean you?
This thread has gone over this at least a dozen times, suggesting easter eggs here completely destroys the point of an easter egg, which is that no one knows about it until they find it. Please, please stop.
Not only that but trying to make them go through a shitload of trouble just to please the "masses" (the 2 or 3 people who want "shoutout easter eggs") is pointless, and frankly it's starting to get annoying.
A better solution to your problem, if making graffiti is so ridiculously easy, is to draw it yourself and donate it to them or something - instead of trying to convince volunteers to do it for you, completely free of charge, so you can see some Hydra graffiti in the sewers and say "look guys, that was my idea!"
Better yet, drop it and allow them to decide things for themselves.
Just let them dev team choose the easter eggs they want. They are supposed to be a surprise.
Not everyone that says something is looking to be put on the credit list.
People actually do this here? :v:
But let's drop this and head back to the topics at hand.
As for the SLAM, it was cut as a weapon for a reason. Though the idea of using them for the Combine tripmines is nice, as the current trip mines are ugly black squares, although the SLAM doesn't look very Combiney.
The Combine in HL2DM use SLAMs, so I think it's safe to assume the ones in HL2 would too.

They use them in Episode 1 as well.

The Combine in HL2DM use Gravity Guns, I'm pretty sure HL2DM isn't canon even by Valve's loose standards :v:
The Combine in HL2DM use Gravity Guns, I'm pretty sure HL2DM isn't canon even by Valve's loose standards :v:
Yeah, now that I think about it they literally outright said HL2DM wasn't canon, so yeah.
My point, though, was that the combine didn't have Combine-specific tripmines; everyone just used SLAMs. If it was canon it'd make sense that it's a Combine-built explosive and the rebels just took them.
BTW the Overwatch Nexus's turret systems' tripwires look similar to the tripmines. That should be addressed.

Oh yes, I remember that too. Gordon falls in a vent that gets loose, then has to traverse a room without tripping a wire and blowing his face up... bad thing is, he's not exactly a small frame, is he? That HEV suit has to be thick.
the SLAM doesn't look very Combiney.
Neither does the SMG, the Shotgun, Pistol or Grenade...
Oh yes, I remember that too. Gordon falls in a vent that gets loose, then has to traverse a room without tripping a wire and blowing his face up... bad thing is, he's not exactly a small frame, is he? That HEV suit has to be thick.
You can literally toss a frag or punt the vent cover and back away quickly and take no damage from setting them off because the seam where the vent drops is visible.
Neither does the SMG, the Shotgun, Pistol or Grenade...
well, the smg and the pistol, before I knew they had real life counter parts when I was younger, they looked very alienesque to me.
TBH I still don't think the SMG looks like a real gun.
There's just something about it.
