Look at the scene at the beginning of episode 2. Alyx is shown having a bit of time just keeping it upright. Either gordon has become a tower of muscle after all the adventures he has been on, or the HEV is doing one of its jobs, because Gordon is shown using the punt without being shoved backwards like Alyx.

well he was a certified user of the HEV suit, and they probably have fairly high fitness requirements since those are the only guys sent into Xen. then he's wearing a suit of tank armor with numerous subsystems built into it, so he's weighed down a fair bit. and then that suit augments his strength even further, and he's ultimately both heavy as fuck and stronger than a bodybuilder.

-and nimble, remember the hazard course training? All the agilities you had to perform.
damn, gordon is smart, strong and nimble, can can use guns. who would wanna mess with him?
The orange looks less glowly, more like somebody pored yellow-orange porridge on the gravity gun.
I'd suggest baking the glow in using a ray-traced light (emitted from the "glowing" part).
Good idea, hadn't thought of that.

There is a good reason I made the walking speed in the HEV as fast as you moved in HL1, and since the sprint function became useless, I rebound shift to walk. It always annoyed me that apparently gordon ate weights in between HL1 and HL2. Plus always running at that speed makes platforming an awesome challenge.

I always used to wonder why none of the female rebels tried to learn how to remove the suit and jump him after the suppression field went down because who in their right mind wouldn't want a piece of a guy considered some kind of messiah.
who in their right mind wouldn't want a piece of a guy considered some kind of messiah.
probably didn't because Gordon is a massive NERD (but in reality there was never a good time for it)
No, it's 'cause Alyx woulda beaten the shit out of other women who 'jumped Gordon'.
One thing that really stands out to me is the lack of any electrodes on the the claw tips. At the moment, they just look aesthetic. I imagine they're supposed to act as channels to divert some energy from the main body, producing the "holding" effect when you grab things.
Could we also see some shots of it with the claw retracted?
It has little points on the claws that are supposed to fulfill this, with a bit of texturing and particle parenting they should be more apparent.

Kwant's going for more concept-accurate, ala these:

The one you posted looks too much like all the other Gordon models out there that other people made, and the part round the shoulder is too thin.
Back side is still WIP.
Since we brought up the gravity gun, again, I would like to post some media that might help out fleshing the final model and textures.
Very pretty replicas*
I know this may not be relevant as what is decided is entirely up to you but you may want to take into consideration the latter gun on that list;
seeing as it was modeled from assets an employee of valve supplied

That was the primary reference, that and the pictures of the real life version.
Sorry, but the last threads went so fast that I wonder if anyone's input was overlooked. A lot of good info was posted but I wonder if this info is being organized.
I think the main issue right now with the gravity gun right now is that side handle. In HL2 it looks like a scavenged bicycle handle, the new one looks too tiny and thin. Maybe make the grip bigger and the cylinders on the side smaller?

Its kinda noticeable that you just used the original scaled up and threw some "details" on it, which doesn't make it look much like wood.

uhm yeah,
nope he didn't if you look closely

I was just about to disagree with you, but the paler wood does actually look pretty bad. The contrasty, darker wood looks good from your method, but the paler wood looks pretty lame. It needs some more distinctive features in there.
I have to disagree, it looks good enough and this way it has the best results in engine.

Tried working on the legs but getting that topology right will take a while..

That part makes it REALLY obvious it's upscaled.

If only we had 3D printers and that they could print in chocolate, then we could have chocolate HEV suit shaped candies!

Actually that's the only original part of it there, I couldn't get the edging right, so I used the original. I figured 'Hey, it's a little detail, and most people don't focus on the spaces in between the boards, right?'.
Also let's not go through this whole- "oh this little spot here doesn't look just right, you should change it! Oh now this little spot isn't right, change that!" -thing again, it was bad enough with the tiles. If it happens to be something that sticks out as a super eyesore, then tell me that, but if it's a little tiny detail on an environment texture, don't. There's, like a thousand of these environment textures, and I'm about the only one really working on them that much, I'd like to finish these sooner than later, and if I have to, I'll go back and touch them up.

Could be that either the edges are too sharp or the AO is too pronounced, but the scalloping in the midsection looks way too deep from that angle.
The first probably had no idea what they were getting into and were slaughtered very quickly. The second were most likely armed to the teeth. The cloaks used by assassins might have been a BMRF tech made for safely navigating Xen without being in danger or endangering potential specimens.

y-you've changed the walk/run speed? might I ask for that to be optional, please? I kinda liked hl2's run speed and sprint ;-;

I'm not a part of the team. It's a personal mod.
oh, okay. that's a relief! I just had to make sure.
