Also, Half-Life 2 SteamPipe update is going to break all mods that mount it's content for real this time, but we'll able to mount it as soon as Alien Swarm goes SteamPipe, for the first time. There's no more luck for Source SDK Base 2007 games.
Yeah, I just crashed in Synergy. It's big time to replace that old Source Engine 14 and make way for TF2's, DOD's, HL2DM's and CSS's engine!

Not Steamworks, Greenlit. They're replacing all the old leak content and such and removing lots of things (Such as a ton of the anime stuff, improving old maps, new hud, new weapons and features and such.)
OC is back under development and is moving away from the early "everyone wants hl2 beta type content!!" days.
Granted it's SDK is broken for most so there are no new maps for it lately, but that'll change once it gets greenlit.
The main problem OC has is the lack of map production, and they weren't getting any new maps long before Steampipe broke the SDK. Despite that, unless several people release several maps simultaneously, people will play the one or two new maps and then get bored again. It's an endless struggle that OC has had for a long time.
Maybe if the Greenlight goes through this will be fixed, only time will tell.
anime stuff
It never was official.[/OC]
I was thinking, we will have a new manhack?

Yeah, we're not happy with it either. We initially wanted to release on Steam December last year but then I got quite a few personal matters to deal with and things went somewhat chaotic, so I ended up spending a lot less time working on OC or on the PC in general.
I'm still pretty busy with my life, though it's no longer chaotic, in fact I probably couldn't be any happier with were it's heading and I am also able to squeeze a lot more time into working on OC again, so progress is there.
We won't set another release date until we are really close to releasing since you never know when or what might get in the way, but it'll be this year for sure.
Also, we'll have support for the Workshop. :D
Nice to know it's still alive :)
Um... If I may, I'm not really a fan of the current logo. I think trying to incorporate an E into the lambda looks ugly, though since we're already juking around with it, I had an idea. I thought that instead we could keep within the theme of "enhancement" and use a capital lambda (Λ) instead of the traditional lowercase one (λ) of the series.
So I whipped this together:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/XofoMhp.png[/t]
Pretty good! The thing is, the words won't be readable if the logo's any smaller, like if it were used for an icon, you wouldn't be able to read it. Also the lowercase lambda in that font is giving me big "Assassin's Creed logo" vibes, especially if it were scaled down (though this could just be me).

Poor Black Mesa, it's another 2009 all over again (with Valve breaking the orange box engine). Xen and BM:DM will definitely get delayed.

Let's just hope the Alien Swarm engine can help.. temporarily.
I would still prefer a lowercase lambda because the uppercase looks a whole lot different from the lowercase (at least to me) and would not remind me of HλLF-LIFE at all. (but as long as you don't go logo porn ingame, it's not THAT important to me)
Let's just hope the Alien Swarm engine can help.. temporarily.
I'm kinda worried that we're porting to ASW only to get fucked over by Valve. They advise developers to stay away from that engine branch because it'll never be updated.

That's what makes it the most stable :v:
So, after a few days of learning shaders I finally managed to create one.

Now, make everything a shade of blue, and add lensflare.
I like lensflare
But the subtle stuff like Killzone 2's. Or maybe even a step lower than that; Battlefield Bad Company 2.

not necessarily because chromatic aberration is distorting of separate colors as they enter through a lens - you'd have to distort the color channel spherically, not just shift the channel around a little
[t]http://www.tlc-systems.com/pp011185crp.jpg[/t] (notice how the channels get more separated further out in the circle)

i think it needs to be more selective than just a general-purpose shader. imo, it should only show up when there's a good reason for it - like when looking through the crossbow's scope, or if there's a level with rain in it to fog up Gordon's glasses. it's incredibly immersive if done right and i do like the look of it, but it just comes across as unnecessary to me.
Black Mesa only used it when you took damage IIRC.
Lens flares, chromatic aberration, vignetting ... say hello to your average fps character:

I wonder if Gordon Freeman could be accurately portraited as a wheelchair with rollerskates.

I dont recall me saying that this is going to be ingame like this did I? The purpose was solely to learn how to make shaders since as far as I know we have no coders for them.
So I thought i'd give it a try but seems like I might give up on it since people don't seem to like it anyway. That being said, anyone around here wants to write shaders for us?

Let's all thank DICE for starting this annoying trend in fps gaming.
brb sunglasses.
I've been following this since it got announced, and I just wanna say that the work looks fantastic so far. I'd love to see this finished sometime.
Well, Gordon is probably wearing super science glasses, so he has a reason.
You know, It really bugs me that it's overcast nearly all the time, but there is no rain anywhere.
I think maybe intermittent showers would be a good idea. Perhaps on the canals or something.
You know, like it's raining while it's sunny out?
