Anyone seen this yet? I think it shows off a couple good ideas for the mod, maybe he'd be up for helping you all out!
^dude hangs around here afaik. Not sure. I do love his AR2 particles though.
I don't know about you, but when I'm crouching i'm wobbly as fuck and am 10x more prone to falling over.
Then you crouch like shit.
Have you ever actually aimed a heavy piece of metal at something? Of course it's the most stable when you're prone, but as someone who actually has, crouching is much, much better than standing still. You get more support from the rest of your body and you're overall much sturdier plus a much smaller target.
Isn't it also harder to turn around quickly?
Isn't it also harder to turn around quickly?
No, if you need to move you can quickly stand up. I have handled several real assault rifles like the ak103, and smgs like the mp5, and if you crouch in a stable pose, you´re steadier and have a better chance of keeping the aim straight and hitting the target at long and mid range, of course, for short range you don´t need to do it. me with a m4
I mean if you could affix a weapon from hl2 such as the smg1 to a block of cement with it pointed directly toward a target, you could fire in controlled bursts and still miss the target.
The SMG's accuracy is shit of course you're going to miss the target.
I guess many would hate this because it's not like how Valve wanted it to be, but I would like to see some weapon accuracy system similar to CS (probably csgo). If you are not moving, or if you are crouching, the aiming should be pretty accurate. In HL2 doesn't really matter if you are jumping, falling or crouching, 357 will always be accurate and SMG/AR2 will always be inaccurate.
they did that in svencoop and it's the most annoying piece of shit mechanic i've ever seen half-life is action, cs is tactical
The SMG's accuracy is shit of course you're going to miss the target.
It's a firearm, so when fixed in place with no chance of recoil or vibration offset it shouldn't have a cone of fire, especially in short bursts. It also wouldn't be one of the most used weapons by the transhuman arm of the overwatch if its design made it the least accurate piece of trash out there.
No, if you need to move you can quickly stand up.
My point was that you can turn just as easily in-game while standing or crouching.

I thought the Combine were making soldiers, not wimps who can't aim an SMG.
My point was that you can turn just as easily in-game while standing or crouching.
You can in every other game with that system, too.
You can in every other game with that system, too.
That is not a valid point though. What is, is the fact that Half-Life 2 is really not the kind of game that needs this. Maybe games like Arma or even CS, but in no reality is HL2 ever going to need a mechanic that will make the game pace slightly slower, make it more realistic or more "balanced" to the other team, since there is none.

he's not going out to record himself firing weapons...
The same guy who is currently making MMod, also made this: Should this be the basis for the new Tau particle effects?
no because you would often be firing multiple rounds in a short time span and that would just too noisey
The guy who's making MMod (formerly known as "HL2:Enhanced") makes some really great particles, but for me they're a bit over the top for a lot of the weapons. Now over the top is fun and it's definitely different, but it's a bit too much for HL2.
What does the gauss gun even shoot? Taking in consideration the name, ammo and visuals you'd think it's using electromagnets to fire radioactive bouncy lasers, but I somehow doubt that.
you don't crouch like this fine gentleman when holding a gun: [img_thumb]http://thumb7.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/92898/92898,1284983861,1/stock-photo-attractive-young-man-crouching-all-isolated-on-white-background-61344793.jpg[/img_thumb]
That's a slavsquat :v:
If you head over to the model porting thread (correct thread), Corgi's modeling Gordon. http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250031&p=45258981&viewfull=1#post45258981
You can in every other game with that system, too.
And those games are designed with accuracy boosts from crouching, a feature Half-Life never had. Half-Life already has a speed/size trade-off, so adding an accuracy boost would be a benefit with little consequence, meaning there'd be little reason not to be crouching all the time.
AMAZING!! So awesome effect, perfect work!
you see, this isn't what these guys are working on.

There's always moments in vidya combat where there's a different tactic per micromoment. Don't fall under the belief that something doesn't belong because it won't be used 100% of the time, or it will. Half Life 2's gun play is weak. The AI doesn't help. It's ok to introduce new ideas.
AMAZING!! So awesome effect, perfect work!
Is it really that hard to look at the rest of the post? You know, the two lines where he mentioned this isn't part of the mod
Is it really that hard to look at the rest of the post? You know, the two lines where he mentioned this isn't part of the mod
I know, but i like this effect anyway.

http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250031&p=45258981&viewfull=1#post45258981
Well, I'm not actually modelling it, it's made from a combination of about 5 models so far. I just got tired of there not being any good and accurate Gordon head models out there. Figured why not mod some meshes and make my own. :v: That's why it's in the Ports and Hacks thread because it's technically a hack and it IS a port that's been modded and had the verts pushed around a lot.
I wouldn't mind an effect similar to that, but not that thick and dense.
It also stays for way to long. It should be a lot quicker if anything
I´ve got good news, sargent99 is still working on the rpg for us, he will be kind to give it once it is finished
