It looks long in that image because most of the time you're going to be seeing it is going to be in first person.
If you used the barrel jesus crits made it would look stumpy and weird.

Redoing a lot of that model, the energy bars in the barrel look like shite among other things.

Even in the first person view it looks a little long to me. Of course it could also be the angle sinces thats not exactly the view you have for first person.

It looks long because the dimensions of the world and view model are completely different. I based mine off of the world model due to the fact that the model will be used for both as we're doing full-body awareness.

I think a major contributor to that tf2 look is the matte phong map.

Which isn't [i]really[/i] what phong exponent does, it just makes the point light based spec more diffuse - which is sort of replicating glossyness, but its not really "gloss".

Anyway, it is nice Valve is replacing their view n' worldmodels to replace them with Combination models (for performance), though we can tell they've never gotten to trying to make their games properly make use of virtual reality even if you decide to use worldmodels in first person view (which would be nice FPS-style for [B]Postal 3[/B]).

I don't think Source allows texel based tinting of specular reflections, since the phong mask is grayscale, I think you can tint it over the whole model though.

For the most part yes, the textures are being recreated and simply "overwriting" the existing ones, so it would be very possible to just stick them into Gmod. You might have to do some material hacking though, also you might need to modify the VTFs, since I'm importing them as VTF 7.5.
It's not possible to use colored speculars in Source, but it is possible to tint the phong with [I]$phongalbedotint[/I]- it tints phong according to the colors of the diffuse.

I find it odd that Linux is being compared to people who've been dropped on their head. Not gonna name names but I can think of a certain widely used operating system that starts with a W which is closer to the glue-eating crowd than most Linux distributions. :v:

When something is more widely used it's bound to have idiocy lurking in its userbase.
If I had to estimate, around 9/10 programs (and that's being generous) would be Windows compatible, whereas Linux is way far less.

Jesus Christ people, go read the first post. Full Body Awareness IS a thing and you're like the fifth millionth dude to suggest it. Reloading most definitely is a thing, DoF I have no idea but it doesn't really matter that much and head bobbing is ewww but you can already add that yourself (there are a dozen mods which you can find simply by googling)
