Why can't they post some of it here then?
Probably because seeing one texture redone at a time looks less like progress than a picture of a trainstation filled with redone textures.

I'd love to see progress. Dear god how much I'd love to see progress even if it's small. Just something to give this thread an actual purpose because right now it's nothing more than people talking about ways to change, not even improve, hl2. Half the time I look in this thread I forget that it's about a mod to enhance hl2.

Any sceenshot won't look like much until the whole puzzle is completed. Nobody wants to see a half finished house
I'm thinking a start of at-least 10 million polycounts on the can.

Lovely.

No one is forcing you to stick around, and nobody wants someone who's going to be ungrateful of their hard work. Break your consistency for once.

You know, fuck it. Clearly nobody is allowed to have anything but a completely positive attitude towards the mod, or point out facts regarding the progress and how incredibly slow it is. Bye.
why do you keep bitching about a work in progress community project there's literally nothing beneficial out of this attitude
I agree, my past Spanish teacher believes that "people perform better when they aren't under stress" and it helped me alot. The moral of this is that a higher quality product when there isn't an restricted deadline. If you look at Valve, think of what would have happened if Half Life 2 was released as the state it was in on September 2003 when the team knew it wouldn't be ready. The resulting game would have been an complete mess; and as a result of the leak, Valve took the extra time to revamp HL2's gameplay into the award winning game we all know and love.

This mod is NOT BM:S. BM:S was a complete ground up remake of HL1 that recreated everything from scratch, including layouts, soundtracks, a variety of scientists, voice acting and the like. That mod taking a long time is understandable considering it was trying to be as up-to-date with current tech as possible. This mod is mostly visual edits, bug fixes and gameplay tweaks.
The door is one way, you already went out, dont come back in from the doggy door
stop post

This mod is mostly visual edits, bug fixes and gameplay tweaks.
I like your vague use of "visual edits" in this instance. They're just visual edits. Anybody should be able to do those simple, simple visual edits. Hey SirLemon, while you're on your way out, why don't you make your own HL2 mod? Clearly these simpletons don't know what they're doing, and those visual edits you were talking about are so simple. I mean, yeah, it does include mapping, modelling, texturing, shading, and programming, but then again they're just visual edits. Hell, I say you could do it all by yourself just as a side gig to your job and have it done by the end of this year. (Don't be greedy though! It's a free project. And don't get lazy, because there's work to do.) Excluding testers in the mod team, there are 22 people on the list of people working on this mod. There are 22 people who are actively producing content for this mod for free and in their spare time. Life doesn't stop when you start working on something like this, and there's very little received outside of experience. The last thing they need is you to mope and groan around here like you actually matter. No one cares if you leave - that's not a flame, that's the truth. Your presence isn't a value in any thread in which you contribute literally nothing but complaining. I mean, what, do you want the Mod Team to come out and waste time on you because you don't think they're showing off the progress their making? Who are you? Why are you a priority for them? There's nothing important about showing you anything because they have more important things to do like having a life that isn't set to a self-prescribed EA employee lifestyle. Maybe the problem is not the fact that they aren't wasting their entire existence as a human being but instead you. They can take as much time as they want and in no way are you, SirLemon, the concern. If you have a problem with it, just leave.
I agree, my past Spanish teacher believes that "people perform better when they aren't under stress" and it helped me alot.
Well that may be the case for most dev idk, but I found myself working way harder for my mod when we set a deadline for the release. At this point I knew I had no time to digress and had to make every last bit of detail the best I•could. Now of course this was self-inflicted stress which is different from someone trying to put stress on you for something.

Seeing the new Gman in action in that controller test video was neat as hell.
What video?

You guys don't need to wait for the mod to come out to use those skins, FYI. They were released a while ago on Gamebanana for everyone to use as they're not the final versions that are going to be made for the new high poly versions of the models that will be seen in the mod. Not sure if it's been discussed before or not, but something I'd like to see is a remake of the test chamber in the opening sequence, seeing as they just ripped it straight from HL1.
Not sure if it's been discussed before or not, but something I'd like to see is a remake of the test chamber in the opening sequence, seeing as they just ripped it straight from HL1.
the effort / showoff ratio is pretty bad to be honest you see the old chamber behind a cluster of dark screen overlays and for about 3 seconds.
First impressions are everything. Hell, we could just ask the Black Mesa team.

GMan has some really huge and defined Cupid's bow.
First impressions are everything. Hell, we could just ask the Black Mesa team.
Yes but in a way; the test chamber is so iconic. Why change that? Leaving the HL1 visuals and transitioning to the enhanced textures will make the visual enhancements feel more significant
First impressions are everything. Hell, we could just ask the Black Mesa team.
I honestly don't see why not, since it's like what, a small section of the map and maybe 20 models from them? (I mean we'd ask them first) Also, I had a Gman demonstration posted like a long time ago on YT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjjlDZBxHrI It was super wip hand painted (if you can't tell) and was fixed up a lot 5 months or so ago; but as porky said, we're looking to have the Gman head be done in Zbrush or something so it's not planned to go into the final mod.
Asking Black Mesa would be a good idea, but only after the HL2:EM has enough to leave a good impression on them. :P [editline]29th July 2014[/editline] I always felt that particular render of G-Man's needs to be less shiny. It seems like an easy fix.
