Yep, never coming out. Let me just throw my anticipation for this in the trash. (User was banned for this post ("Don't be rude" - postal))
Yep, never coming out. Let me just throw my anticipation for this in the trash.
Seeing moral support liked this is always nice, isn't folks?
Yep, never coming out. Let me just throw my anticipation for this in the trash.
Ever heard of the term "Self-fulfilling prophecy"?
I think valve is more interested in supporting Source 2, rather than giving out what they have with Source 1. They're more interested in developing Source 2 because they see people moving over to that rather than working off of Source 1. It's pretty normal of Valve not to release things that so obviously could be released because they lack polish.
Well if I had the option to mod Source1 or Source2, Id choose Source2 in a heart beat, and I think everyone else would too.
Well if I had the option to mod Source1 or Source2, Id choose Source2 in a heart beat, and I think everyone else would too.
What if someone had the thought of porting everything from Source 1 over to Source 2? It'd obviously be way more work than packing up the first one before making it fully open source (yes, pun intended) so anyone can make their mods playable on another operating system if they wanted.
The increase in sales due to the amount of available content is definitely something valve will have in mind but past that I don't think they particularly care that much about the support and accessibility that they used to in regard to the modding community.
Eh. I disagree. They started the whole workshop program, which is dedicated to user content, almost every TF2 hat/gun/map update is there because the community made them, Team Fortress itself starting as a mod, and they're adding several mods for HL2 and HL1, INCLUDING this one, on the steam store pages constantly. I'd say they've lost no interest in the modding community.
Yep, never coming out. Let me just throw my anticipation for this in the trash.
Nice random completely useless unimportant interjection that nobody asked for.
we didn't get a lot of good source games after 2007 (or really any,) [t]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/rainbow.png[/t]
Portal 2, L4D 1 and 2, CS:GO.
Portal 2, L4D 1 and 2, CS:GO.
dota 2, alien swarm
dota 2, alien swarm
Assuming we're talking strictly just source games in general Stanely Parable, Dear Esther, "Revelations 2012"
Assuming we're talking strictly just source games in general Stanely Parable, Dear Esther, "Revelations 2012"
And stanley parable used a newer version of source too.
Assuming we're talking strictly just source games in general Stanely Parable, Dear Esther, "Revelations 2012"
Titanfall.
I'd probably be all in on L4D (in case of SFM DLC), and Alien Swarm just doesn't get much attention...no multi-platform for Mac or Linux people, guess it was a little wasteful and more of a techdemo thing.
So when did the topic go from content to naming of recent source game engine titles? [sp]Vindictus[/sp]
Assuming we're talking strictly just source games in general Stanely Parable, Dear Esther, "Revelations 2012"
Why do people forget of EYE's existence?
bloody good time is pretty good too i hear
So when did the topic go from content to naming of recent source game engine titles? [sp]Vindictus[/sp]
because someone said "we didn't get a lot of good source games after 2007 (or really any,)"
Portal 2, L4D 1 and 2, CS:GO.
i was talking about third party games, and how little there was in volume compared to say, UDK [editline]15th August 2014[/editline] there was like, what, 10, and they were all done by people out of the community, not many professional companies picked it up
there was like, what, 10, and they were all done by people out of the community, not many professional companies picked it up
Quality>Quantity This is something Valve understands, I'm sure.
i was talking about third party games, and how little there was in volume compared to say, UDK [editline]15th August 2014[/editline] there was like, what, 10, and they were all done by people out of the community, not many professional companies picked it up
Valve doesn't give a damn about professional companies though, never really have, aside from gearbox who made a couple half life expansions. Their main focus has always been community, this is the point I've been trying to get across. They're the only company I know of who doesn't just release SDK's so community can fuck around in it, but they go out of their way to make sure they have multiple means of doing so. Workshop, adding mods to steam, etc. And this all goes back to my original point: When source 2 is fully out in the open, they're gonna have tons of modding support.

"GLaDOS: Very good. You’ve really come together as a team. Thanks to the one of you who appears to be doing all of the work."
"GLaDOS: Very good. You’ve really come together as a team. Thanks to the one of you who appears to be doing all of the work."
That shit is why I still haven't beaten P2 Coop. Insults are fine in SP, but after the first time she does it, usually people try to also get complimented, and since it's totally fucking bullshit, they don't. Ontopic, who are characters going to look at in cutscenes when they're speaking in cutscenes? The host, the closest person to them, etc?

It's not exactly the most fun thing to do. If Valve'd done P2 the way they did P1 where all the HL2 content worked in it, NPCs and all, then I imagine I'd have edited all the HL2 maps to work in coop and it would've been great.
This is also why potatOS didn't talk that much. Playtesters didnt like the constant insults.
Source 2 will be free steam exclusive engine, saying it now.
