It's....it's a puzzle game...
...where the singleplayer had a story that I gave a shit about and wanted to finish. The MP is just glados going "do this shit and one of you is good while the other one is just constantly insulted" Just because something matches a genre doesn't mean it's good.
That is literally GLaDOS's personality.

And also you complained that" there isn't jack shit you can do other than go "YAY HIGH FIVE" and do the puzzles", when solving puzzles is literally the entire point of portal.
to respond to the "Valve probably won't open Source 2 that much" from last page... with the pressure Valve is getting with Epic's wonderful modding-focus idea for Unreal Tournament 4, it's likely Valve will open Source 2 to the public the same way they did some builds of Source 1. If they don't, they're blind to competition and themselves. Epic's basically dragged their modding-focus rug under Valve's feet and could swallow that whole market out from Valve if they don't do something. And I did say market, as modding translates to more money almost all of the time so it very much is a 'market'. If they don't, Valve will eventually lose great chunks of their modding community, the ones who want an engine that's up-to-date, especially with Unreal Tournament 4 being free. And that makes up a huge portion of Valve's PC audience. If they don't open it, Valve is blinder and dumber than I ever could've imagined.
That's assuming their goal is to make money off their engine. But you don't see many third party Source games. That's because it seems more like they'd rather just have Source as an internal engine for their games. To have an engine do what they need and little else. Obviously they're willing to let other people buy it. But it's never seemed like to me like they ever wanted to compete. They just let modders play with Source cause they felt like it. Cause really if they were trying to get people to eventually buy their engine. I doubt they'd do it with command line model compliers and a level creation tool that randomly crashes for looking at it the wrong way. I could be wrong. And who knows. They might go a different direction with Source 2. I'm already impressed by their new level editor. The fact that they can release that means they purposely didn't use any restricted third party librarys. So maybe they're gonna go for it. We'll really just have to wait in see. They might actually surprise us. But really I'm not gonna get my hopes up.
They're both equally insulted, you know.
Not really, no.
Not really, no.
I laughed at all the insults.
Not really, no.
stop
stop
The only reason I haven't is because people keep trying to change my opinions and retroactively my past experiences in the game. Don't carry it on, and it wont continue. Simple. [editline]a[/editline] Like really the only reason it's gotten to this point is because people keep telling me the things I've dealt with and the way I feel about things is wrong lmao
This is reminding me of the family that got offended over the orphan joke.

Like complaining that the only thing to do in portal is solving puzzles, or that glados chooses a favorite (even though she insults both people)
So, enhancing Half-Life 2... I found a little list I made a bit ago. I guess I got bored. Keeping Track of the HL2:EM Thread: Inside Nova Prospect: Add Rain Effect Make an animated texture of rain hitting window Change texture of guards from violet to more blue
you cant deny the mp was severely lacking in story, its obvious the main focus was more on gameplay and making glados as witty as possible
Nobody's denying this, but there was no need for a MP story. The story is what made portal fun to play in SP, all MP needed was to have your friend there and the fun creates itself.
you cant deny the mp was severely lacking in story, its obvious the main focus was more on gameplay and making glados as witty as possible
It's not as if singleplayer ever had that much story to begin with.

Don't have any pics on me, but they're nothing special, just changed the hue because I can't edit textures very well. Even so, they look nicer and have more of a 'security guard' feel.

It's not enhancing it, it's changing it based on personal preference.
I just listed the things that people generally agreed on that day. I'll try to find the actual discussion. Meh, couldn't find the discussion, but I'm pretty sure the things I listed saw agreeance to some extent with the creators of this mod. I did find this, though:
Heh, I still have the making of image of that in my ShareX folder. [t]http://i.imgur.com/TImDAqG.png[/t]
the illusion in most great films and games is story telling, never a plot hell take a good long look at the people who honestly think the l4d series have a solid rich storyline [editline]17th August 2014[/editline] or the hype surrounding gravity/inception, everyones going on about how deep and complex the plot of inception was and its still hilarious to hear
The thing is, though, complex plots are hardly ever really worth it.
thats basically what i was implying
Oh, okay.

There's a story but it's hardly a novel or big budget movie. The focus of the game is more on synergistic play rather than narration.

Though the world building is fantastic.
One of the graffiti on the walls stated that the zombies ate their cat. :v:
I still have nightmares about that cat.
I agree with the guy in terms of adding weather/precipitation to certain parts, hearing a nearby storm while making your way though Nova Prospekt sounds like a cool improvement to me.
I still have nightmares about that cat.
What cat?
-snip, wrong thread-
Has anyone suggested using func_breakable_surf for tiles yet? In HL2 they were broken but this guy managed to fix them by using materials from the HL2 leak, and I think they'd be cool to include in the mod. I was waiting for that guy to toss a grenade. :(
