Visuals first, technical thingies later.
And here we have a fine specimen of a forum poster that has literally never modded a game before.
Visuals first, technical thingies later.
"Okay programmers, you have to wait to code anything until the people doing the visual work is done. That should speed things up right? While we are at it, nobody can do any map work until all the textures are done, and nobody can do that until every model is finished. That way we maximize the amount of team members waiting for others to finish their work, thus somehow making this mod come out faster."

Refrain from ever making a game development suggestion ever again thanks
You wanted it, you got it.

I love how you saved the honor of insulting me when there were plenty of other pointless suggestions (lockpicking, adding other mod content, etc) in the thread. Please refrain from telling me from doing anything ever. I'll let the ratings decide what I'm doing wrong, thank you very much.

"Other people have been wrong so it's okay to me to be wrong."
Listen closely, buddy: You're still wrong. And I have no problem with telling you what to do, which in this case would happen to be refrain from telling other people how to run their game development. (because you're wrong)

Wow amazing
I think you should change everything about it though. The corners are too cornerey and the indentations stick in too far. The purple should be more blue and you forgot to add a panel on the left.
Or you can just continue about your work and post occasionally to satiate the followers <3

That's fine, the ratings are telling you to stop, too.
That's fine, the ratings are telling you to stop, too.
Yeah, I know that. I do not need you to tell me to stop.

Lol, what kind of troll are you?
Well, what do you mean by "technical thingies" anyway?

I think that is some Barney Calhoun logic, that he knows you and still owes you a beer.

Pretty nice, actually.
I bet the HL2EM devs have already gone further then that.
Oh god, I get hyped just thinking about it.

Most of it's amazing, but then you have things like that box where the side is no longer as dark as it was and it just looks weird because of it (imo, at least.)

Wouldn't that be the lighting, not the texture?
Wouldn't that be the lighting, not the texture?
Maybe?
They look to be in the exact same position so I dunno why the lighting's different.

Because Source.
Because Source.
Oh, right. Forgot about that.
That can happen in any engine when you add a normal map to something that had not had one previously. Normals are just weird sometimes. I know, I'm an environment artist.
iirc source will disable per-vertex lighting on materials with normal maps and opt for ambient light sampling instead
[editline]17th September 2014[/editline]
it's a source thing is what im saying
Stuff like that and posted WIP content should just be edited into OP to prevent having to look. Everybody knows nobody's going to search all of these pages.
Actually they're on our forums- just in the dev section which is only visible to devs.
I reposted it to the general discussion area for all to see: http://hl2em.com/forums/index.php?topic=2489.msg2793#msg2793

but all my shitposting there is gone!
rip the old forums
The problem is that pretty much no-one goes on the official forums, though I suppose that's a bit of a chicken and egg problem.
