They latch on dead bodies mostly, the "before-airboat" being an exception and the zombie-mutations probably need some time, too. Nothing wrong, letting them latch on citizen's heads but they most likely only can from behind considering their orientation on their victims bodies.
That's just a scripted scene. And i don't say that they should just, jump onto enemies and poof, they turn into a zombie, but i never got how do they even do an damage... What, they scratch your head with their tiny teeth, is that it? I mean, they could kill a citizen and they still wouldn't latch onto them. Also, they can maybe rotate or something so they are proper orientation. And i don't see why they couldn't be other orientation, not saying the should though, that would be stupid. Well... maybe it's more comfortable for them. also (Not reffering to you, sir) seroiusly, i have SO MUCH anticipation for this mod, but i probably won't be here when it comes out. And that's because most people are so fricking hostile to whatever i fricking post. I'm sick of it. I posted one joke, and that i admit, was my fault. Other posts were suggestions and that's it. I mean you mark all my fricking posts "dumb". Am is so stupid and i don't see it or something? I mean, no drama, but seriously, tell me what dumb did i do, i just posted a suggestion. Excuse me if it was already disscused in 5 previous threads, i would gladely read through all of them if i had time. Also, i just played vanilla HL2, After playing Cinematic Mod. I was amazed how everything was fricking ugly in Cinematic Mod... Only pros are resolution of textures and polygons of the fricking models. Not their looks or desing. You done **** it up Fakefactory. Well... Maybe i'm just over... something-doing i don't know the word.
My point is that they can't latch their claws instantly if the orientation is not fitting.
Perhaps they latch on that way because, well, they usually navigate that way?
They latch on dead bodies mostly
It's heavily implied that the hosts are still alive and aware of their state.
It's heavily implied that the hosts are still alive and aware of their state.

Playing parts of a Half-Life 2 zombie's sound files backwards will produce extremely disturbing yells of pain. The reversed cries have been interpreted as "Oh, God help! Help me!" and "Get it off me!" If set on fire, the victims may say things that might be interpreted as "Why, why, why!?," "Help, God... help! Help me!," "Gaaah!," "Gaaaah, I'm on fire! Gaaaaah!," "My life's fading!," "My eyes sting! Gaaah!," "Put it out!" and even heard as "Yabba, put it out please! GRAAAAGH!"
http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Standard_Zombie#Trivia
It's heavily implied that the hosts are still alive and aware of their state.
Or being alive, again? I mean the line between life and death can be pretty slim. Aren't there two occasions where a headcrab is hatched on a scientist's head at the start of half life and later on a security guard(not successful due to helmet) in a vent?
http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Standard_Zombie#Trivia
Used to think they were dead and that headcrabs kill them when they latch, but yeah it makes sense. But damn, that's disturbing. What i liked about HL1's non-hd zombies is visible human skull. It would be cool to see that feature on certain zombies in EM.
the whole 'human skull outline on zombies' headcrab' is a neat idea but I can only help but think that the headcrab has to be made of, like, a wet towel in order to be able to see that outline under that thick of a solid creature.
Yeah... and that's a shame. Because, i found them much more creepy when they had this feature. Well who knows, maybe headcrabs are empty in that region and have organs (or whatever those things have in 'em) somewhere else. What i think it is, when valve were making hd models for hl (or whoever it was, gearbox since its for blue shift, or ps2 i don't know) they were just lazy and didn't wanna make the texture for that. I mean... they were the ones who made the skull being visible, so it doesn't brake the canon. Maybe... the headcrabs adapted from hl1 to hl2 timeline to fit human skulls better since maybe... their heads were too big so that's the reason for the outline? Off topic: Awesome HL2 Fan-art I know it's old, but i'll just post the link here in case someone wants to see it. Also, the guy that did this one's got more art of HL2 and Portal in his gallery. It's amazing, check it out.
Some suggestions: Consistent RPG world model (I know BossN00b made one, but it still looks off from the original) Speed Reloader shown for 357 magnum reload animation (if possible) To use some of City 17: Episode 1's graphical assets To not make the grass just a static image (saw it on this thread a couple pages back) To release it before Half Life 3?

Poison and Fast variants are now existent and the original headcrab changed shape from both of its prior forms: HL1 and HD: HL2: And according to the wiki, not sure if I'm using the right one here, The original headcrab has six eyes, whereas the HL2 one does not. They're under its front arms:
Poison and Fast headcrabs could have been a mutation that the Combine put on them.
I'm still baffled about why this mod doesn't have a moddb page
Combine probably geneticly engineered the headcrabs they launch to be different for various reasons.

If it truly is changing the host into a gonarch, then It will be fusing with it. It's not the most dubious biological element of the creature. I mean, a zombie can still swing its arms despite having lost all visible muscle tissue, and the headcrab somehow causes the host to grow claws. The Fast zombie has no abs at all and yet it gallops on all fours.
Probably grows the skull while it's on and it's internals find a way in the head, and thus you have the human skull outline.

Also in Black Mesa, which happens in hl1 timeline (well now officialy cannon, since valve aproved it, as far as i've heard) I mean, maybe the skull was visible since they fused with host in hl1, but not in hl2, since they mutated? But then again, hd pack - no outline and black mesa - falling off.
I'm still baffled about why this mod doesn't have a moddb page
ModDB is honestly filled to the brim with garbage content and even trashier people. I can't believe how many will always tell you your content is amazing and "better than what AAA studios make" even when it's clearly not. It almost feels like the DeviantArt of mods and that's no good. ModDB isn't bad, no, but the community over there makes me sick. It's a great place to find mods, that's about it.
I wonder what the SPAS-12 looks like...
I wonder what the SPAS-12 looks like...
It looks like a shotgun.
It looks like a shotgun.
I know, but what I meant was, what does it look like in game?
Like a shotgun but with more polygons
I give up! Lets move along to another topic, shall we?

jokes on all of you all guns are replaced with thin air that's right HL2 has been turned into a pacifist's game
jokes on all of you all guns are replaced with thin air that's right HL2 has been turned into a pacifist's game
Literally POSTAL 2 with headcrabs. Also by the way, which weapons are actually done being modeled and material'd right now?
