Urgh u adhd peeps gets too much hand holding nowdays!!

But this is really easy to do. Just get community made Template Mod for ASW, copy hl2 code, connect it to projects in Visual Studio and after fix some errors. It may take some time since hl2 code is huge. But that is all.
purifying water is easy too and deer park still makes a mint

would b nice if u released it and saved 'some time' for a lot of people

But he's a coder himself, he knows what he's talking about.
Which further validated Milkyway's point.
Yeah you can do so much about 128 kbps HL2 ost. Not to mention pre-ep2 music was mastered pretty badly with some major clippings and compression artifacts happening here and there, so manipulating with frequencies of such lofi material will just make all the noises and artifacts sound louder.
I've never noticed any clipping in HL2's music?
But he's a coder himself, he knows what he's talking about.
Still dodged the question. He asked for a yes or no, and got neither.
Awesome work, HL2 never looked so pretty.
Just gonna say: If it's so easy, then that's all the more reason to remove a boring plodding monotonous step for everyone forever. It would go from something to sigh and grunt about to something no one would ever have to think about ever again.
Imagine if Humphrey Davy showed off the lightbulb and when everyone asked how he did it he just went "oh yeah, it's easy if you're a chemist!" and then disappeared forever.
For anyone who is interested, here's a link to the ASW mod template: https://code.google.com/p/swarm-sdk-template/
What it essentially does is combine elements of the Orange box SDK and splices them with the ASW one. What you get from this is a mod base that is already set up with a first person view mode and other major multiplayer features like classes, prone animations and weapons.
I knew the reception to this comment would be less than warm, but what started as an "enchancement" is turning into an "overhaul"
Well jeez, the game was made in 2007? back then it was made for MUCH older hardware, so some things were limited and set back all for the sake on running on many hardware devices.
Nowadays, we have more horsepower, and we want to make the game look a lot better, and crap brush/displacement doesn't help.
We aren't overhauling it, all we are adding is a few more buildings, making organics and the architecture already there look better, higher res textures, and adding a few visual effects. Other than that, it should be the same experience only in higher quality. We aren't even gonna touch the lighting unless it's for the better good (like for extra rooms to make things feel more like an office or whatever) (we'll lower lightmap scales so you get pretty shadows also)
Late but whatever.

I'd have to disagree on that, since everyone has the resources available to easily recreate this.
Compare it to Cola, there are alot of different varieties but every recipe is a secret.
I feel at this point it would have just been easier to say "no". We would get our answer without all the beating around the bush.

Actually you're right there. I haven't listened to any of HL2 music for ages, since well before i got 'good ears'. There probably are some horrid artifacts in those audio files. Hmmm, ahh well.
Why is it that whenever I check this thread, even if it's weeks apart there always seems to be a comment about how this mod is becoming too ambitious/changing too much at the simplest of changes?

Because that's half of the discussion in here. Fandoms are very protective of their canons.

I tried at least...
Oh well.
But it's true, if you want to mod source engine you should already have some experience, not much but enough to manage simple code , which of should be enough to port HL2 code.
Also it's much better to use a scratch SDK to be honest
Additionally, you won't learn anything just copying code, if it's a challenge for you it's a good thing for learning
I'm sure that I could learn how to do it, that's not the issue. I wasn't speaking for me, I was speaking for aspiring coders/modders. My only point was that when people give answers like that, it does absolutely nothing to help anyone. Explaining that either "you need to know such and such first, then it's easy, here are some links to help you get on your way" or "if you know nothing about coding then you should start elsewhere, etc etc" would be way more helpful to people. That's all.
God I hate answers like this. As someone who has taught themselves everything they know about the source engine and modding in general, answers like this were the bane of my existence.
This is exactly why Source engine modding has been in serious decline in some time now.
relatively?
Dude, Hammer is fuckin worldcraft with a haircut.
Hammer definately ain't no Mjolnir.
But I can see it now, successor to hammer will be called that.
That would be so fucking great.
It's a conglomeration of all of these reasons.

There you go. There's a few glaring issues (zombies causing crashes when they die under certain conditions, flashlight breaking detail sprites) but is otherwise pretty much complete.
Hey what ever happened to that open beta Deathmatch version of this mod that would slowly update during this mod's development? Last I heard you guys were waiting for HL2:DM to port over to the VPK system.
This is what I mean: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1236615&p=39697123&viewfull=1#post39697123

Well that can't be good.
Still, I appreciate you taking the time to upload this stuff.

It's actually done being ported. Not sure what happened.
Actually we changed our minds a bit about the DM beta. We'll still have it, but we want to get all the new textures added to it first, then we'll release it.
Just noticed that at least two buildings around the trainstation plaza mysteriously change colors:

What is it with that part of the map being full of problems?
It was probably revised a ton before the final release, leading to inconsistencies.
