In that case maybe the regular soldiers/ CP should use the beta sounds and the elite should use retail.
If there's anything the beta sounds should be used for it should be regular conversations between metropolice, I always liked the idea that the game would show how CPs were just people with regular lives.
The filter they used for the voices in the beta is way different, so they wouldn't fit together. They kept the old death sounds, which is why they sound so weird compared to the CPs normal speaking voices.
isn't the "take him down" line in the Gordon-gets-zerg'd-and-Alyx-saves scene in the first chapter still using the old filter?
Barney and the cop who brings the other citizen in for interrogation use the old filter too.
Barney's filter is a tad different from the old filter, it's not quite as clear and seems more low pitched. As I recall, his filter doesn't have any beeps that start or finish his sentences either.
Probably because it is the old filter, they just edited the lines a bit to be slightly more consistent with the new filters.
I always found Barney sounded weird because there aren't any other cops that share the same filter so he sounds extremely out of place maybe you guys could add variety to the metrocop filters?
That would be weird because why do they all have different voice changers in their helmets? Also you'd need raw voices to edit.
That would be weird because why do they all have different voice changers in their helmets? Also, would you really need raw voices? Just change voice pitches after their little beeps and boops. Unless you're referring to changing the filters.
The latter, yeah.
an army of clone police
[thumb]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090918154727/starwars/images/7/7d/Grand_army_formation.jpg[/thumb] The idea may seem weird but it works in a lot of different media.
I got a response!
Checking this over, the typo's have actually effected the gameplay and been factored in, so this is now "by design" :)
I.. I guess the typos in d3_citadel_03 and d3_breen_01 were intentional, which means that if more than 4 of any weapon is dropped (in this case, AR2's and SMG1's), there'll never be more than 4 of any weapon visible and vaporizing.
i don't understand
That would be weird because why do they all have different voice changers in their helmets? Also you'd need raw voices to edit.
Newly recruited cops with new helmets/filters in them and old cops.
i don't understand
i think it's to do with why weapons dropped during the Citadel levels vaporize upon the NPC user's death?
i think it's to do with why weapons dropped during the Citadel levels vaporize upon the NPC user's death?
Isn't that intentional when you have the powered up gravity gun? so you can't get any other weapons?
No, the combine soldiers in general had a different voice in the beta, it was definately a load clearer and sounded pretty cool.
You're thinking of the wrong one, there were several voices used. The one you're thinking of was showcased at e3 iirc. The one I'm talking about is the one the soldiers in the leak actually speak with (though they don't speak a lot, they mostly just shoot).
If there's anything the beta sounds should be used for it should be regular conversations between metropolice, I always liked the idea that the game would show how CPs were just people with regular lives.
Yeah, a scripted conversation between metropolice at the trainstation somewhere. I liked how in the leak they were protrayed as slightly nicer, seeing as it's implied some people join up just for better living conditions, it makes sense that they wouldn't all be bullies. Well, at first anyway.
The filter they used for the voices in the beta is way different, so they wouldn't fit together.
isn't the "take him down" line in the Gordon-gets-zerg'd-and-Alyx-saves scene in the first chapter still using the old filter?
Yeah, it's in the metropolice folder (metropolice_new is just an unfiltered voice for some reason).
Btw in HL2 Intro there is a part of the map from HL1, do you plan to "Enhance it"? or maybe it has been asked already...
Btw in HL2 Intro there is a part of the map from HL1, do you plan to "Enhance it"? or maybe it has been asked already...
Already been asked, but yes it will be "enhanced". Pretty much everything in the game will be enhanced in one way or another.
Even cheaple?
Cheaple cannot be enhanced, he is perfect.
Cheaple cannot be enhanced, he is perfect.
He's TOO perfect... I think we need to tone him down a bit.
cheaple is love cheaple is life
When I think of love, I think of cheaple.
I don't care much about Cheaple/Andrew, just do your stuff and I won't even mind about him. (Kitty0706 features him getting hurt, or even scaring Chuck Greene)
Cheaple is obviously best half-life character
Cheaple was actually kind of clever, having a low quality model for distant people so they're not so taxing.
Cheaple was actually kind of clever, having a low quality model for distant people so they're not so taxing.
Was an odd way to do it imo. LODs take care of all of that.
The guy it was based on felt bad because his citizen was cut and cheaple was the compromise <3 <3 <3 <3
