The tube is long so that when the player equips it in first person it looks like a shorter barrel. I believe the same is done with most of the other weapons as well for pleasing aesthetics.
Work in progress airboat seat. I need to finish rounding it off and unwrapping it for the texture guy. Left is the improved design and the right is the old one meant to get a rough idea.

I think you should wait until you get a higher poly version of the can, or make one specifically for the poster because that can's texture looks insanely high res but the low poly model makes it looks really off.

The poster was just made to showcase the skin, it's not gonna be an actual poster in-game. Also most people aren't going to really care if the can has a higher poly model or not, you almost never see it up very close.

honestly though, [I]perceived[/I] polycount/resolution matters a lot in games, that's one of the things that separates greeble and clutter from stuff you should pay attention to. there's no point in having something so high res on something so tiny, it's even counter-productive because this'll be so sharp it'll actually stand out too much.
i'd rather see actual improvements at a gameplay level. i think this mod needs to focus on the actual flaws of HL2 if you want to make something worth replaying
like the game likes to hand you a whole lot of shotgun ammo so you never run out of it. that pretty much made every other weapons redundant
I don't even use the shotgun that often, I mostly use the SMG / AR2.

If anyone asks how I found the models in my list, I was picking them out by looking in the Model Browser inside the Hammer Editor (Yep, Source Filmmaker includes Authoring Tools).
Also, weren't the weapon models supposed to be view + world = Combination model? That means you can use both viewmodel bones and a worldmodel at the same time, along with Level of Detail. It'll be the coming of a large-scale performance update! (Of course, newer technology requires efficiency)
