And completely irrelevant to the point of the mod.

(And I didn't want breakable things on all HL2's maps; but where it fits and Valve didn't implement destruction.)

What's the matter with making things consistent? We've been playing the same game since 2004, with the same layout, and I for one wouldn't mind having some new places to explore in what is, admittedly, a fairly linear game.

There's a stairway to nowhere and a ladder + platform 3 feet below the wall because ???. And the concrete structures serve only to block the player, but the razor trains clip through them (badly) as well. I thought it'd be neat to give you one last view of where you came from, but I guess not.

Why would you rather not have these changes? It won't affect the atmosphere or game-play adversely, rather it should enhance it. Given that there are (according to the OP) five mappers and the maps aren't being rebuilt from scratch, will it cause unacceptable delay? Corgi, what about putting it to the vote? See how many people want what sort of changes. (Unless that's already been done, I honestly can't remember). As for the screenshots and shit, I post those because it's much easier to understand, rather than paragraphs and paragraphs of text. Others have spotted some of these problems in the past, like Adam Foster, creator of MINVERA: Metastasis.

Pretty sure the mappers will get bored if they have to spend all the time doing boring little layout changes like that when they should be adding detail. I just wanted to show them there is another side of people that aren't interested in these changes, so they don't feel so forced into them if they're not interested. Mods die if the modders lose interest.

I honestly thought those were just general building shapes at first glance Also in place of actual destructible stuff have you guys considered something akin to having cool impact effect particles and stuff, like spraying a type of wall kicking up a lot of dust that lingers, or shooting metal sheets that spark and having extra sparks that bounce around, etc. like FEAR? FEAR didn't really have much to "destroy" but the combat was absolutely amazing partially thanks to those effects. It really felt like your bullets tore shit up and didn't just exist to make the AI stop standing.

I`m liking what `ve seen of this project so far, that I want to help in it my main skill is sound, but I can also do some texturing, and provide some ideas. What I'm hoping is that they use cheap models for the vista when riding up in the citadel like they use for the skyboxes in L4D
Also, don't forget to add particle effects for rising smoke in the skybox. Yeah, nice job rating me dumb because as we all know, war-torn cities always have clean air.
