we're on topic what are you talking about
well uhm, we've already confirmed the language thing long ago in fact everything about this conversation is just pure deja vu
I forgot to mention, if you guys are looking for some realistic gun sounds, I've been working on them. The MP7 is a no-go right now, it's almost impossible to find any good videos of, but I've got the SPAS-12, Annabelle, the USP and the Python sorted out. I'm not sure if you're going for realism or cool-factor, because the guns do sound rather piddly and weak in real life.
Eh, I am taking care of the sounds already, the guns will be a lot more realistic, but will still resemble the default style Before, I released these

Couple of critiques: -The SMG sounds a bit dry, could use more punch. -Pistol sounds lower quality than the rest of them, and sounds a bit odd overall, like it'd be the sound for a much bigger pistol. -The chopper gun needs to sound more vicious, it just sounds like a normal machine gun right now. -Explosions need to be louder, they were getting buried beneath the rest of the sounds. Still, sweet work.
That shotgun sounds really explosive in a really bad way. Like, I get it's a beefy gun, but it sounds like distant explosions every time you fire that thing.

Who here thinks the sprint sound should be changed? I think it sounds weird and I don't even know what it's supposed to be. A breath? It doesn't really sound right.
I always thought it was a hydraulic or something like that. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline] As for gun sounds, I tried to make an SMG shot sound, I dunno if anyone will like it and I doubt it'll be used, but here it is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/87931465/smg1_fire1.wav Source of sound from this video:

Let's go back to the HL1 way where you press shift to walk and sprint all the time after getting the HEV suit.

Movement keys are run, Alt to walk*, Shift to sprint. *Actual walking, not 'run very slightly slower. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline] Actually I just remembered the walkspeed is also used for when you play without your HEV. Would it be possible to have the train station normspeed (movement keys) be walking and the sprintspeed (shift) be running? Only for the train station levels though, when you get your suit it should go back to normal settings.
Who here thinks the sprint sound should be changed? I think it sounds weird and I don't even know what it's supposed to be. A breath? But yeah, the explosion (and some other sounds?) sound very quiet. Also the shotgun and revolver sound like thunderstorm, maybe make the echo quite a bit quieter and shorter decay.
I think breathing can take place in the ending of running (where suit's energy gets low), Gordon gets exhausted and he starts to breath heavily but without annoying.
And then it becomes hilarious when sprint and flashlight share power The flashlight is powered by breath :v:
And then it becomes hilarious when sprint and flashlight share power The flashlight is powered by breath :v:
When i have played HL2 i've had the think it's not gordon spriting and running more faster, in fact, i thinked its actually the HEV making your movements to be more fast. So that's why it uses the same than flashlight or oxygen power. Obviously, my theory broke in the start of EPI2
Honestly sprint meters are outdated and pointless anyways. That alone is a bigger change than giving gordon a body, and actually effects gameplay, something adding a body does not. :v: Also sprinting isn't outdated or pointless, take a look at how many new games still use sprinting.

Obviously, my theory broke in the start of EPI2
That was my theory too, it's a hydraulic or electric exoskeleton (Which exist and are Sci-Fi as fuck) enhancing the power of his limbs The battery is used by a hydraulic pump or motors moving the joints, which also explains why Gordon can easily pick up and throw barrels full of flammable liquid :v:
I think picking up barrels is just a developer oversight / laziness. They just gave all containers (including barrels) the same weight, whether they were meant to be empty or not.
This is exactly what Smod redux did back in the day. And it was glorious.
'Back in the day' It still works.
I think picking up barrels is just a developer oversight / laziness. I like it. Also, as is seen at the video, we can fix this annoying bug that has the AR2 at the cannon part?: *Crappy photo taken with Gyazo directly from the video* That part should be close completely, but most of the times it doesn´t. You can see it clearly at the video.
Item pickup sounds reminds me of Cinematic Mod, who comes first?
That's because they are from the Cinematic Mod, but those headcrab sounds don't remind me of Headcrabs at all.
That's because they are from the Cinematic Mod, but those headcrab sounds don't remind me of Headcrabs at all.
Aren't those from Alien?
Aren't those from Alien?
I first heard them in Cinematic Mod.
Aren't those from Alien?
That makes me think that no one did a Facehugger model replacement for the Headcrab. And we have Half-Life since 1998...
That makes me think that no one did a Facehugger model replacement for the Headcrab. And we have Half-Life since 1998...
actually someone did years ago
That's because they are from the Cinematic Mod, but those headcrab sounds don't remind me of Headcrabs at all.
from the cinematic mod? are you serious? unless he is now using the sounds from that pack (for which I was completely unaware because he did not say anything about using them), then nothing in it has to do with the cinematic mod. He used a lot of borrowed assets which he doesn´t mention where they come from, like things from metro 2033
With regards to the headcrab, I don't think we should changes its sounds. The basic headcrab has had the same sounds from the very beginning and I seriously doubt it'll have different sounds in the next Half-Life game.
