Dude...as cool as that may sound, you're shooting WAAAAAY to high.
It was a joke
Overwatch Elite already use the AR2 alt fire, though as far as I'm aware, they're the only ones.
What I want to see is npcs using the alt fire of the MP7. Black Mesa disappointed me not having their H.E.C.U. soldiers using their grenade launchers.
PPPPFFFF. NO. THINK BIGGER. Shooting shoulders to cripple an arm and force them to retreat. Take out kneecaps to trip up an enemy. Downed (but not out) combine soldiers being dragged out of the way by the ones who are capable. It's the stuff of legend. Only a few have gotten it right. I have no faith that Valve will be among them.
Something like Half-Life: Invasion did?
I can see why Valve didn't use it, Soldiers throw grenades at you if you're hiding behind cover, but the grenades are easy to grab and punt back if you're paying attention SMG grenades would be extremely frustrating since you have almost no time to react
Same could be said about AR2 altfire, yet it's used by elites.
The combine balls are large and glowing, so they're super easy to spot and you can catch or deflect them with the gravgun. SMG grenades have none of those properties.
Same could be said about AR2 altfire, yet it's used by elites.
Not really, since it has a projectile speed, cooldown time, and no splash damage. I do however think that SMG grenades SHOULD be used by NPCs, but only on the more difficult settings
the SMG grenades could come in on the Hard setting IMO. and they should have a trail of some kind for easier spotting too, like the hand grenades do; maybe not red because then the player could easily mistake them for basic grenades
Or it could be modified to act like in HL1, moving in arc and slow (it would needed to modify the speed of the launching grenade, and the mass of the grenade). I talked previously about taking back the cooking feature for the grenades, that was rejected, right?
I like having it when my Sprint also depletes my flashlight and my oxygen. Having it all combined as one meter makes sense and makes managing power easier.
What kind of flashlight runs out quicker when you jog?
Dont know if anyone gives a damn, but I made a slightly higher res file cabinet If any other small crap needs to be redone, Ill be willing to do it. I believe that as much as the weapon and playermodels are important, the small things can help a game too
What kind of flashlight runs out quicker when you jog?
the kind that shares its battery with the power suit's motor systems perhaps?
To be honest, flashlight draining sprint power sounds still a bit more logical then sprint draining oxygen.
I didn't say sprinting is outdated, having a sprint meter is. It's like having lives on a NES game, it's pointless, lives were made for arcade games so kids would use more quarters. Sprint meters do nothing but annoy the player.
because gordon can run an infinite distance without getting tired also, if you meant just making it invisible or something, to be honest I prefer numbers and bars to my screen growing red liquid when i get hurt or something (rate me clocks) [editline]21st July 2013[/editline]
To be honest, flashlight draining sprint power sounds still a bit more logical then sprint draining oxygen.
>sprinting requires oxygen irl >breathing requires oxygen irl yes it makes more sense for a flashlight to tire you out faster than not being able to breathe and trying to run around underwater at the same time [editline]21st July 2013[/editline]
the SMG grenades could come in on the Hard setting IMO. and they should have a trail of some kind for easier spotting too, like the hand grenades do; maybe not red because then the player could easily mistake them for basic grenades
if npcs get smg grenades, and you need a trail for them, for the love of god don't use the default smg grenade trails they are absolute shit

Wandering around Combine Overwiki, I´m reading that on the leak, there is a texture of a burnt vortigaunt. http://combineoverwiki.net/wiki/Vortigaunt#Behind_the_scenes Considering that both humans and vorts have the same fate if the Combine discovers them conspirating, it would be interesting to try this. P.D: Someone can take a photo to that texture?, I´m curious.
the SMG grenades could come in on the Hard setting IMO. and they should have a trail of some kind for easier spotting too, like the hand grenades do; maybe not red because then the player could easily mistke them for basic grenades
I could see them working if you really wanted them to. Give them a slightly slower travel speed, maybe a clear trail, and get some sort of vocal warning just beforehand. Something easily recognizable, like that one grenade line where he starts counting down the timer. Maybe something like "Three, two, one, flush!". The 'three, two, one' grabs the player's attention, and the word 'flush' is strongly emphasized so it will be easy to recognise.
>sprinting requires oxygen irl >breathing requires oxygen irl yes it makes more sense for a flashlight to tire you out faster than not being able to breathe and trying to run around underwater at the same time
Well, I always thought that sprinting and flaslight in suit works on the same princip as powers of the nanosuit in Crysis. Like all the powers drain one battery that they are connected to. And I guessed that oxygen would be stored in some small tank hiden somewhere in the suit. Yes, I know that for sprinting you basically need to breath too but why the suit would you provide with it's limited supply of it when it could just have ventils on front of your helmet, providing you that much oxygen how you just can breathe in. I mean, sprinting is suit power, right? If not, why Gordon wouldn't be able to sprint before getting into the suit.

Someone make a better texture remplacing this NOW.
Between this, and the Annabelle texture, I hope VALVe fired the texture artist that made them. Even I made better blood in Paint! God lord.
Between this, and the Annabelle texture, I hope VALVe fired the texture artist that made them. Even I made better blood in Paint! God lord. Someone make a better texture remplacing this NOW.
Relax. 1.) The Annabelle was just a Google Image with some small modifications. It's fine because you're never supposed to see it up close. 2.) The Charple Vort was never used in-game. 3.) The Charple Vort's Texture doesn't work on the EP2 model HL2 now uses. Only the 2004 model.

I wouldn't mind passing through a "corpse depository pit" somewhere in the canals, or at least some floating bodies. I doubt the combine will take the time to bury them, recycle possibly.
I wouldn't mind passing through a "corpse depository pit" somewhere in the canals, or at least some floating bodies. In fact, I never realised they were saying anything coherent in that radio garble for a long time.

It's so irritating how we can make so many changes to the game to make it more interesting, but we are restricted because we have to keep it really true to the original. Some of the ideas people come up with are brilliant, but unfortunately I don't think we will be able to make most of those changes because 'it wont be half life 2'.
It really depends on what's suggested. Some ideas are out there, while others aren't so much. And it's all up to interpretation. This mod wants to stay true because Fakefactory did not, and in fact that's what inspired this in the first place.
