except every time you're in a lane to farm or every time you're sneaking up on a pushing enemy hero that will be promptly alerted by your creeps suddenly glowing green (the aura aoe is 900) and running away or tping, vlads is an early item and getting it means you're giving away your presence before that point in time that knowing you're there doesn't matter and they get 4 shot anyway
Um, vlads isn't exactly an item you want to rush on most heroes. It grants more benefit later on in the game. [editline]4th September 2014[/editline]
Do you ever really need more than 16 purges?
No, but it still bugs me.
I'm starting to get tired of this loosing streak. Lost like 5 games in a row so far as a support. I'm going to try carrying next game.
Um, vlads isn't exactly an item you want to rush on most heroes. It grants more benefit later on in the game.
Vlad's costs about 2000 gold and builds almost entirely from early game items. When else would you get it? You need it right away on heroes that actually have to have it (like Lycan). The percent based damage is just a nice bonus so it's not a waste of a slot in late game, but there are plenty of other auras, regen, or armor items you could have and should have as a core later on. You're either a core getting it immediately or a support that gets it around the time the other support gets the mek.
No, but it still bugs me.
The problem with this is that unlike refilling the drum charges with a recipe, the Diffusal Blade recipe actually upgrades it into a better item, similar to dagon and necrobook. Do you want there to be a diffusal blade 3?
Vlads isnt something that is a 100% needed every game unless you play 100% lycan, but my opinion is largely based of this. Also unless you want to do an early push strat with summons, its not great as a first, immediate item if you're a farming carry.
If you're a farming carry and you're not either Lycan, Broodmother, or Ursa from a few months ago then don't get it at all is what I'm trying to say.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/j8YoPoJ.png?1?9349[/t] So much for fucking carrying http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/873292003 I knew it was going to be a loosing match from the start TA and Juggernaut were brothers. They wanted to lane together but we were like "no lol". We told TA to mid but TA didn't want to so lina had to mid. I had to compete with juggernaut for farm. I managed to farm up an ags, and a refresher orb but nope that wasn't enought to stop the trashtalking medusa. We had no map awareness because our supports didn't buy wards. We had flying courier by like the 30th minute mark.
100% of the benefits are via an aura so there's no sense in taking up a slot when a support could be holding it while standing next to you. [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] muh auto merge
If you're a farming carry and you're not either Lycan, Broodmother, or Ursa from a few months ago then don't get it at all is what I'm trying to say.
vlads after bfury is nice as an afk ricing antimage. you're not going to have a support following you around the jungle anyway, especially not with all the blinking
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/872963636 Lest I say, that game was wonderful. First time I had no deaths at all, and I've been playing for almost 1,5 years :v:
vlads after bfury is nice as an afk ricing antimage. you're not going to have a support following you around the jungle anyway, especially not with all the blinking
Although AM is kinda shitty Hero IMO, and you're gonna need like Bkb(+Heart) to survive anything. As for early game farming, and then jungling, Vlad's is not necessary for that. Quelling Blade + Bfury is all you need, + Treads and maybe PMS. But even with these items, and even with Vlad's added on top of it, AM still can't be in the center of fighting until he gets really farmed with Heart or BKB at least. [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] Which is to say that I kinda really hate the Hero. Each time I play AM, I get really farmed and fast, but that's about it. Then we lose.
battlefury regen isn't enough to support jungling tho (especially if the bf is really early), which is the point of vlads not an every-game core but a nice option if you know you're not going to be active. but if you do decide to be active, antimage's mobility certainly facilitates it even without big survival items. and in early-mid game skirmishes, sometimes just blinking in and ulting is enough to win a fight for your team [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] if you're losing the long game maybe you should learn when to press your farm advantage. also i wouldn't consider bkb especially core on am, you might want to put that money and slot towards a basher/abyssal instead
Each time I play AM, I get really farmed and fast, but that's about it. Then we lose.
That's his thing, getting really fat really fast, then pushing off that advantage. As a result however he's extremely vulnerable to earlygame pressure, if you manage to fuck him up and delay his BFury to 20 minutes or later he won't do much worth mentioning until 50 minutes in.
Nah definitely not core item, but BKB is good against some annoying shit that's all. And Basher oh yes, it's a definite choice for AM no doubt about that. And I'm not exactly losing the late game, I just never get there as AM. :v: Not usually anyway, which is kinda lol. I expect my team to pull their weight as 4-man while I farm/push for a while (not the entire game afk-farming ofc), but that's where things usually go downhill. So it may be their fault, and it may be partly my fault too. Oh well.
Anti mage being forced to build a bkb is a bit of a kick to the groin for him
Depends though. If he's forced to get it really early, then yes, he's wasting time farming an item that won't let him either farm faster or carry harder. Otherwise it's pretty standard for AM's to get BKB's (he'll have enough money to buy a bunch depending on how long the game goes) later in the game to prevent being sheep'd and he won't have to worry about wasting farming time since he already has the essentials.
I've never needed more than the Battlefury regen and a pms to jungle as him before, are you guys doing like triple stacks?
if you're not stacking camps as am every chance you get, then you're playing him wrong
Something very, very bad is going to happen very, very soon.
Techies will happen.
if you're not stacking camps as am every chance you get, then you're playing him wrong
but if you can clear like the 3 main camps before they spawn then it's kinda not even needed. Plus the lane creeps are already pushing the tower ohshit-- [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] Which is to say that stacking is slightly more important for some other heroes like Luna, Gyro, Tinker/Kunkka, and the likes. AM can't take ancs unless he has a whopping heart and butterfury. AM fucking suxs.

How did Ursa play? Did he farm for 2 seconds and think he could 1 v 5 the team? [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] He must've had trouble farming because everyone on that team needs gold.
I wish Icefrog would just rework Antimage to completely change the meta of how he is played. Battlefury into nonstop jungle doesn't make any sense with his kit. He shits all over supports, casters, and other early game heroes, or he should in theory, but he needs too many items to be really effective in the early game when 75% magic resistance and mana draining is most relevant. [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] Wasn't there a time like years ago when he was played as a ganker/semicarry?
Bfury on Elder titan :suicide: http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/874616758 and my void was a pussy.
Kept on solo initiating on 5 people with my double ulti, shit's fucking strong. Like, drop a long-range fissure, blink in, ult, stomp, refresher -> ulti, stomp, fissure, and make sure to smack someone in between your two stomps and you've got a dead team. Only time someone survived was when I didn't catch them in one of my fissures. It's a shame I sucked as ES, though. 25 assists is sub-par as compared to how I usually do.
I'm not sure if ~67% kill participation counts as sucking in any known universe. Especially when it's higher than the main carry.
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/874739508 Void apparently insisted on farming, we didn't mind as Techies did a hell of a job clearing the creepwaves until Tiny was so fat he killed towers in 5 hits and since Void was insisting on killing Tiny first in Chrono (and failing, obviously) we could eventually catch up to their big-ass lead. :v:
I'm not sure if ~67% kill participation counts as sucking in any known universe. Especially when it's higher than the main carry.
You aren't trying until you give it 100%. :v:
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/876581890 Techies is fun :v: Even with all the detection they had, it was easy setting up mines and luring them into traps. Stasis traps literally won the game for us.
Stasis traps when used with Black Hole or Reverse Polarity are pretty much a 'win teamfight' button.
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/876810681 Least played. I played it so I can practice against techies and to avoid pubstomps. Ironically there was a pudge and a brewmaster on the enemy team. And a Void, TA, Tinker on my team. The enemies knew how to play their heroes, ours did not. I had no items because pudge ganked a lot and I was spending it on wards and sentry wards for techies (but it turns out techies didn't know how to mine that well so yeah). Also we didn't have another support because apparently 4 carries is the new meta.
Like I never bitched at a game so much in my life. I probably have the most amount of posts in this thread http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/877015708 I decided to play least played. Someone on my team insta pick techies, I pick gyro and plan on going mid. I pray for someone to support. My teammates pick Legion, Storm Spirit, Miranna. Our Storm spirit who ironically picked last, complained about the lack of supports the entire game. Miranna didn't want to support because she said "idk how to play support" and techies just did nothing but place mines in one exact spot or feed in teamfights when he had no levels in suicide squad .
