Most females play female heroes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Can confirm this. I only have one gal that plays a non male hero.... and that's AA. :v:

I meant non-female, but FP is buggin' so I can't edit my post.
>maining heroes.
Why would anyone do that.
Sure, I can understand liking a hero significantly more than another hero, but picking between only a few options gets kind of stale don't you think?

Depends, maining one or two heroes is just dumb, but having a pool of heroes you do better on and pick more often when you're trying to actually win a game makes sense
Holy fucking shit this match felt like it went on forever

We lost all of our tier threes and all but our mid melee rax by 35mins, yet we managed to persevere and hold out another 30mins, slowly taking teamfights and one mid tower at a time.
New last hit record too woo.

Even if you only play as six heroes, if each of those plays a different role in the game or is very versatile then I really don't see the problem.
If someone can only choose between Invoker, Mirana, Brewmaster, Void, Rubick, and Doom then they're still pretty much set for like 90% of games.
I'd rather have that than someone who can play any mid, but only mids.

if you have a proper brain a, and can adjust your build and priorities you can play most of the heroes in any lane/position. I mean, there are only very few options that are stupid/unviable, like support pl/naix
5 man stack vs 5 man stack. I've never seen such a stomp like this before. Our Viper casually proceeded after a blink to just buy a rapier since in the end, just before the Dire ancient got destroyed Doom hit level 6.
Also laning Doom and Juggernaut together was kind of a bad idea.

How the fuck are you THAT slow in getting lvl 6 as DOOM?!
By not eating creeps.

Who bought the rapier in that match?
Gyro probably.

the fun part about this build is every maelstrom helps you farm the next one faster

I had no bussiness winning this one, Storm and Mirana refused to push until 45 minutes in.

Literally Zeus.
how come I keep getting trashcan players every few matches and then decent players every few matches.
Like I get 3 wins in a row
3 looses in a row
http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/870150532
Latest trashcan match pissed me off. Tusk probably had some sort of mental deficiency. Entire match was like "SNOWBALL IS SOOO HARD" while throwing himself and me into a snowball into 5 very fed people. Like it's fucking common sense, it isn't skill.
DK then was retarded the entire game as well. He charged into 5 people for no explainable reason every teamfight. He would also afk farm a lot.
Our bane didn't support one bit. No sentries to counter weaver. I think our brood mother was the one who bought sentries all the time, but for her self.
Our Broodmother was the only one who did really well. Though I was annoyed at how she micro'd her spiders half thetime because it usually ended up me getting stuck, which is why I had to get a force staff (also force staff is good for not making teammates and myself feed)
Like a bunch of matches before, we had superb communication and teamfighting. Like it was exceptional to most of the matches I've played. Like I get those 3 times in a row, then loose 3 times in a row.
Like it's really hard not to believe these theories on a forced ~50% winrate.
[editline]2nd September 2014[/editline]
Like I'm looking at some of my teammate's dota profiles and holy shit this guy has played viper 700 times, basically 70% of all his matches. Like I've only played viper 19 times and apparantly I'm a "Better" viper than he is. And on the other team I'm looking at some pretty solid experience with a mix of heros.
Bane players who get Agh's before a Blink make me cry. Bane with Blink is so goddamn good.
Just won a game with this XP graph.

I think aghanim's is pretty horrible on bane full stop. the extended duration doesn't kick in until you've already been gripping for 5 seconds, and that's usually more than enough time to ensure the target is dead (and similarly, the bonus damage is fairly irrelevant).

Not a single BKB against Tinker/Silencer/Clockwerk/Kunkka, ggwp.
Funny I just realized the other day why it's called rat Dota.

Yeah I know I played like shit and got carried by sniper and tinker, but i am still wondering how dire could fuck up THAT HARD

Just got out of my very first Riki match after over 2 years of playing Dota

He just never seemed appealing to me but I randomed him so I went with it.
I was nervous at first because he's not really my style, but he's incredibly straightforward and they couldn't buy a gem because they had a Broodmother. (Our Venge did at the end of the game anyway)
Was my build good?

I think normally you should get an agility item instead of Maelstrom/Mjollnir since +agility items work good with his backstab passive, but you were against Broodmother & Nature's Prophet so it may have been good to clear waves of their minions.
You also leveled up smoke instead of taking it last which is good.
Diffusal Blades's Purge can purge a lot of debuffs not just Dust of Appearance, it also slows enemies.
Using it on Warlock's Golem(s) instantly kills them.
Manta Style's Active can disjoint many things, it also removes dust.
The illusions won't get the backstab passive, but they do get his permanent invisibility(this has lots of uses) and if you are stacking agility they will probably be strong.
I specifically got the maelstrom to fight back their waves of summons, otherwise that probably would have been a yasha or basher.
I knew there was a big agility item I was forgetting about, it was manta.
I used the purge almost exclusively to hold people in smoke/static storm, I also used it to purge Brood's ult twice (seriously why is that purgeable?) but they didn't actually have any debuffs to put on me that were actually able to be purged.
The biggest problem I think I ran into was regen. Since I went diffusal blade I couldn't have lifesteal and no other source of regen really fits him. (I ran out of mana a few times too but it wasn't as big as a deal as health due to the bloodseeker)
vlads solves both if you like it i personally dont like giving away my position with auras
Honestly past early game you aren't going to be lingering near your creeps invisible for a long time.
If you are just using invisibility to sneak up on someone it won't be that big of a deal.
Also Vladmir's Offering's aura grants 15% of base damage as bonus damage which is useful if you are stacking a lot of agility on Riki.
Somewhat unrelated: I wish you could recharge Diffusal Blade 2.

Needs basher in maelstrom's place.
[editline]3rd September 2014[/editline]
And Vlad's is kinda good too yes, it stacks with Diffu so why not if the need's be.

I already addressed the maelstrom as being necessary against Brood and specifically said I would have gotten a basher otherwise.
I thought about vlads but I really see it as a support item and I was the only melee hero on my team so making a support build an item they themselves don't benefit as much from didn't seem cool.
Sometimes I see Rikis build tranquils to address their regen needs since they roam around a lot but I'd rather have the agility and attack speed from treads.
I also considered Heart.

Do you ever really need more than 16 purges? Build a Manta if you're spending them all on yourself, and there's dozens of other offensive slows.
