Yeah the opening mission ran perfectly for me and most things was on high or very high. Got into open world and even on lowest settings cannot play at all if I start to do anything other than drive around as my fps dives to unplayable levels.
Well if that's the only reason input's shit, then I'm glad I'm getting a new graphics card...
Seems like it's caused by CPU actually. Mine is pretty old, and GTA is such an ungodly resource hog that it's impossible to play with a lower end cpu, even if your GPU is as recent as it gets. There must be some crazy memory leaks going on in the back because not even an open world game would shit itself that badly on a 970.
You will run it at 30fps 720p and everything on low, but it will be too ugly and not enjoyable imo. Keep in mind notebook hardware is different from desktop hardware. It's way weaker even if it has a shiny i5 or i7 label in it.
Woah.. I didn't expect that. I mean that's good enough for me.
If they can make it work with 512 MB of ram, surely PC shouldn't have this many problems? Or are you saying it's not really the same game? Which would make sense.
The game needs atleast 1 GB of Vram, it's not the same version as the PS3 version.
gonna try a full reinstall wish me luck
it didnt work fuck me
because it worked fine for you the launch isnt a disaster? Many people cant play because their keys have been snared in some broken account limbo, huge amounts of people cant play because the launcher doesnt even start for any one of twenty different reasons ranging from not having an integrated graphics card to having your user account contain an apostrophe. At what point would it be a disaster if this isn't?
Well also every single person I know who got it and played with last night (like around 10 people) had zero problems too. In fact I've heard nothing but praise for this launch. I've only seen a handful of people with issues.
Me and hezzy did the introductory heist stuff. It's pretty cool. I recommend hard more for bonus $$$$
OpenIV has them figured out but they have not released the tool yet. [editline]14th April 2015[/editline] Ugh, I need more RAM, I can't play for more then 15-30 minutes without windows yelling at me about memory usage and then my computer locking up. I have 8GB, I would think that would be enough, guess not.
Did you set a fixed maximum size for your page file in Windows? (That's one of the frequently recommended things to do to save space on an SSD.) I don't have GTA V yet but had a similar issue while running Crysis 3: I have 8 GB RAM as well, but I had set my page file size to 1 GB in the past. Setting it to 2 or 3 GB fixed the problem.
I can't get over how beautiful this game is. Now if only it'd stop overwriting the settings put in by GeForce Experience...
Why the fuck do people play with part of the HUD off of the screen? Fix the screen bounds!
sooooon :pwn: i just wish it could have a steady 11mb/s but nope
Praise the gods it's even downloading at all in your case. :v:
So is this launch a fucking disaster or what?
The game works flawlessly for most players, only minor launch issues. Anyone calling this launch a failure is being dumb, wouldn't listen to them. Especially since there's a work around for every issue.
I'm away from home until Sunday but got V PC for my birthday. Sounds great from what you guys are saying on the whole although I'm kinda concerned my 560ti 1gb is gonna let me down a bit. Rest of my system should be OK I think, anyone else running on lga1366 i7 9x0 (I have a 920 oc'd to 4GHz)?
ordering a GTX 970... hope that fucking cuts it
You can bet it will.
If any of you guys are getting an Out of Memory error and have a Samsung SSD, be sure to check out this thread: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203283328-GTA-V-PC-Memory-leak The fix that "themeanster" posted worked for me in stopping the crashing.
There's always gonna be a certain amount of people getting problems. It's physically impossible to assure something will work simultaneously for millions of people. It's going fine for the majority. Get over it and wait for your fix.
Right up until 50% of people's games dont launch the it cant be a disaster? ok.
The game works flawlessly for most players, only minor launch issues. Anyone calling this launch a failure is being dumb, wouldn't listen to them. Especially since there's a work around for every issue.
Yeah, listen to Delta616 "there is a work around for every issue" instead. Very accurate information that isnt completely incorrect.
The game works flawlessly for most players, only minor launch issues. Anyone calling this launch a failure is being dumb, wouldn't listen to them.
Wouldn't call it a failure but when a lot of people can't even download a 5 GB patch (what was that even needed for?) because for some reason they haven't explained yet I'd definitely call it flawed. I'm sure the port is mostly fine though. Been hearing good things overall.
I'm being honest here, the graphical options are not impacting this game at all its just the engine failing to free up memory when needed, I'm one of the people who can run the game at a flawless 50-60 fps when starting the game and after a few minutes the stutters will appear and the fps will go lower and lower. Setting the priority to high makes the game stay at a constant fps rate but will still yet fail to bypass the stutter spam later on. I won't set the game to realtime because its probably going to give me a bsod at this point. I'm still pissed off at Rockstar's lazyness with this. Also disable the steam overlay if you're not using it to take screens or chat with other people. They better have a good hotfix for this or I'm going back to gta san andreas. I refuse to play a game on lower textures because its poorly optimized.
Will the framerate really improve if you increase the priority? I usually never mess around with stuff like that.
Right up until 50% of people's games dont launch the it cant be a disaster? ok.
Calling this game launch a disaster because a small percentage of gamer are experiencing issues (most of which can be fixed on your own and don't affect gameplay) is a pretty big exaggeration. This is day 1 on the PC, did you seriously expect rockstart to have every single issue fix across every possible system configuration out there, or there not to be server issues when millions of players are bottle necking the servers?
If any of you guys are getting an Out of Memory error and have a Samsung SSD, be sure to check out this thread: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203283328-GTA-V-PC-Memory-leak The fix that "themeanster" posted worked for me in stopping the crashing.
so just allocate some virtual memory is what you're saying?
sooooon :pwn: i just wish it could have a steady 11mb/s but nope
Download it from mega. It's what i'm doing after i wasted my whole afternoon trying to download it from there. R* Social club is just pure shit

[2015-04-14 12:11:08.912] [WARNING] Resetting device... Switchable graphics is definitely the problem I'm having. I hope Rockstar figures this shit out - some systems won't let you disable the integrated chip, and the game is apparently refusing to use the dedicated card.
Calling this game launch a disaster because a small percentage of gamer are experiencing issues (most of which can be fixed on your own and don't affect gameplay) is a pretty big exaggeration.
We're not talking about server bottlenecks or minor impedence. The game won't even launch for a large number of people then there's a whole other subset whos keys are in limbo due to an extremely obvious account oversight. For a game that's been delayed twice and released in 2013 have you seen how fast the "game not launching" threads are moving? it's impressive really.
This really is how it's meant to be play. Traffic and Pedestrian density makes it feel like a real city. All the little touches like garbage, fire flies and cats and rats really add to it. I honestly think Social Club is crashing my game at this point but I don't think you can play without it.
Right up until 50% of people's games dont launch the it cant be a disaster? ok.
What if i told you your numbers are not accurate at all? :downs: If you can prove 10% (making it easy for me) of GTA V PC buyers are unexpectedly not being able to launch the game or having game breaking bugs i'll shoot [s]myself[/s] my GTAO character in the dick.
Download it from mega. It's what i'm doing after i wasted my whole afternoon trying to download it from there. R* Social club is just pure shit
it's "only" 8 gigs left though, i doubt it would be worth it
I don't understand how the map has aliasing, you could supersample that with a almost 0 perf hit.
Yeah, listen to Delta616 "there is a work around for every issue" instead. Very accurate information that isnt completely incorrect.
Perhaps if you take the time to do some research on sites like RGSC forums, or even the reddit and less time complaining that your game won't work, you will learn that most issues do indeed have fix or workaround. For a game that's been delayed twice and released in 2013 have you seen how fast the "game not launching" threads are moving? it's impressive really.
I wonder how many people in those game not launching threads don't do simple research before making a big deal. No amount of delay can prepare a developer for unforeseen issues, most of which aren't a problem if you look into a fix. The large amount of people who can't launch the game if they spent a couple mins looking into the issue. And the only people who are having key troubles got their keys stolen because they broadcasted it on twitch, and got their copies replaced. Calling this launch a failure is moronic. The game works amazingly and millions of players have already played it.
You can bet it will.
I have a 970 and I can't get past 9 fps when driving in a 720p window at minimum settings.
