Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V4 - 3 and 1/2 Years in the Making: GTA V PC

I can run GTAIV on high with >45fps on my 2011 rig. Disappointed with how worse GTAV runs... Online seems to be running fine though so at least there's that. I don't get how I'm seemingly the only one that gets better performance with IV.
Does anyone know a way of limiting the FPS to a specific amount, like let's say 40 for an example? My FPS stays around 40 - 60 and it's a bit irritating when it keeps changing and dropping all the time.
I suggest turning off your fps counter. I find that if you don't see it you barely notice the difference.
then it could just be the controls suck, i haven't had a chance to play pc yet so i wouldn't know. they control just fine with a controller
Flying with finesses(As in things like the Flight school) can be challenging with the keyboard because it is harder to correct for turbulence.
How do I flip people off using mouse+keyboard?
While you are driving, aim while unarmed.
When you are on ground, it is capslock by default, but you need to select your quick-action by pressing M.

turbulence was such a dumb idea tbh.
like i get it my character is supposed to be bad at flying but don't just jerk the controls around on me.
If you're playing on PC, the default screenbounds are messed up, so change it in the options.
It's not supposed to have the map stuck in the corner like this:

There should be a few pixels of padding like this:

How does one fix this? I thought it was my TV.
Hey guys, if I'm not wrong an AMD X8 FX-8350 CPU should be pretty okay for this right?
Yeah, I'm using it with a 7950 and 8gb of ram and get 50-60 on very high @1080p.
Online is... slightly frustrating.
Please add to facepunch crew, nick is Visceric

In display settings change the safe zone.
Online is... slightly frustrating.
i just had a match of about 20 people trying to steal and deliver suitcase.
It was carmagedon.
Anybody know if you can use the data from a disc install for a steam version? I managed to borrow a retail copy for the data but when i try and launch it steam tries to download it?
Thanks in advance guys :)

Apparently it's a problem for some people with some characters in your Windows user name.
Contacted Rockstar Support in hopes they can fix the wrong account of mine being linked, they got back to me in less than 24hours which to me is an amazing feat of customer service. But while i'm waiting for that to be fixed ive been playing singleplayer and by god first person definitely makes a difference.
This game definitely was worth the wait.
Where'd you contact? I did the same thing.
Anyone else getting a stutter / frame drop when they mouse over a new menu item? Like just go into options and move the mouse between two buttons...
Online is... slightly frustrating.
Does anyone know how to skip the intro?
Where'd you contact? I did the same thing.
I went on Rockstar's support site and submitted a ticket, they asked me for things such as social club accounts, proof of purchase, etc. I'm waiting for them to reply to the information that I gave them
For me, as soon as I hit play on steam, I get a box where I can select single and multiplayer. When either are selected, I get "Grand Theft Auto V launcher has stopped working" almost immediately. Here's the details:

Anyone know anything about what this means?
I found a solution to this. Apparently, I had to replace my launcher with a different one. If you are also having this issue, here is a link: https://mega.co.nz/#!4hVyyQKQ!q6MWKRNxCFVSKKuYoesJJSOXWOi_rNNXzu5jekSSPJY
Mine was actually able to open the social club and begin installing from there.
updated my drivers to play and now apparently I have no display drivers installed
tried deleting them and reinstalling and nothing, fucking amd

MP or SP?
downloading all 60GB again. Fuck this. Just waiting for the damn patch.
im finding it really hard to get adjusted to the new map and also learn where things are.
i also sorta miss the layout of gta sa which is much more understandable than gta v's map
Sounds like a CPU issue.
Yeah it is, going to swap my CPU with my father's soon enough (I have an old as fuck 650, he's got a 4000 series, forgot the exact number), that should improve things a lot.
im finding it really hard to get adjusted to the new map and also learn where things are.

That's because GTA SA's urban areas are tiny as hell so there wasn't much to learn.
reducing your graphics wont do anything to curb heat, you need to limit your fps. underclock your cpu + gpu by like 5-10%. should help stop it overheating.
Oh muh god.
I checked my graphics performance settings, and for some reason it was set at a 100% minimum. Dunno if that's what it was about, or OverDrive also being on. Anyways, my computer runs normally again and the game runs great on high settings! This'll also fix all the problems I've had with my other games, and I can finally game normally again! Thanks!
