Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V4 - 3 and 1/2 Years in the Making: GTA V PC

The social club downloader is a literal piece of shit. Dipping speeds everywhere (I'm only getting 500kbp/s, what the fuck?) and I find that it's been downloading the same x64q file for almost half a day.
Is it possible to get the Los Santos map poster from the retail version packaging anywhere?
Dont say that please! Its been 2 bans in less than a month for me because of stupid stuff.
Could someone confirm this before the third ban happens?
Imma snip it before something bad happens.
Ask the mods before you post links to music files here, I think that's the best way.
PSA: Do NOT sleep/go shopping/etc. with the RockStar downloader running. It WILL lose multiple GB when you do so.
The first time, it went from having 38GB done, to having only 25GB done. This time, it went from having 55GB to FUCKING 35GB (out of 62.37). HTF does it lose 20GB? Also, it now shows yet ANOTHER total download size: 55.0GB. Francis-level amounts of rage.
Next time I'm just going to buy from Steam :/
I've added all the invite requests
Well, finally got GTA5 now that my check came in. This is literally the biggest thing I've ever had to download. I don't think my old PC would've even had enough space left.
How's the performance? Has anyone benchmarked it pre-release? The recommended specs are almost surprisingly low. (I have i7 quad 2.9-3.2[auto OC]Ghz, 16GB RAM, and GTX 860m 2GB)
R* forum rep just confirmed that the recommended specs will get you 1080p 60fps on high settings (all pc screenshots are on ultra-high)

Holy shit
So, I might be able to get 60fps 720p at ultra high, you think?
[editline]11th April 2015[/editline]
The TV I use for controller gaming on PC is only 720
This settles it. Grand Theft Auto V is the first game i've ever bought on/before release.
I wonder what settings and performance I'll get with my 750 ti at 720p.
Has anyone with the rockstar downloader been able to successfully complete the download?
i think so, my folder is 60 gb
it kept slowing down to like 50 kb/s and i'd have to pause it and restart it
at about 20 GB downloaded i left my pc on for the day while i was out and it was done when i cam eback

ebay, that's where I got mine

Why are people saying they're gonna play at 720p? Might as well have played it on console.

Maybe they don't have a console?
so wait, my lady bought it for me retail instead of on steam
I gotta pick it up from gamestop on tuesday, do i get to install from the CDs or can I preload beforehand?
Why are people saying they're gonna play at 720p? Might as well have played it on console.
Never said I would. I'm just wondering.

I feel like the full price on steam is worth it compared to the cheaper options for the convenience alone.

Some people don't have a 1080p monitor, myself included. But if your native resolution is higher than 720p, which mine is, you might as well play at native resolution.
I didn't have any problems with the rockstar downloader. Downloaded fine without any problems in just 15 hours.

framerate trumps resolution*
*Unless it's 4k gaming possibly maybe
Why are people saying they're gonna play at 720p? Might as well have played it on console.
Like I said before, the TV I use when playing PC games with a controller is only 720p, and I refuse to play a GTA game with anything but a controller.
That said, I'd rather have a high framerate at a "low" (the fact 720 is considered low these days is hilarious to me) resolution than the inverse. My bare minimum FPS goal is 40, but I'll shoot for 60 in any way that's feasible.
[editline]11th April 2015[/editline]
Also I'll play my games any way I please, thanks. PC is always the better one ultimately; saying that a low resolution on PC is a waste and that I should just get it on console flies in the face of everything that will come a year or two after release, like added shaders and other mods.
Goodbye sweet prince. It's been fun, but it's time to say goodbye.

My 770 should be able to run this nicely in that case.

I don't get it
it's not out yet though?
maybe I'm just dumb
Does anyone know how GTAO will handle differences in control method? Will it lump mouse+keyboard and controller players together? Will controller players have aim assist to compensate for this?
Does anyone know how GTAO will handle differences in control method? Will it lump mouse+keyboard and controller players together? Will controller players have aim assist to compensate for this?
I'm going to be using controller for driving / gamepad / mouse for aiming so that would really effect me
I don't know if they'll do that at all though, I doubt they will
so wait my lady bought it for me retail (bitch) instead of on steam

You're complaining that someone else bought you the perfectly usable retail copy, and you can't be arsed to even check what is in the retail version?
You're a bit of a dick mate.
For the record you're getting a physical copy of the world map and 7 dvds, no preload needed.
You're actually getting more with the retail copy than what people like me get with the digital copies.
R* forum rep just confirmed that the recommended specs will get you 1080p 60fps on high settings (all pc screenshots are on ultra-high)
Someone else said that it would only do medium settings at 1080p 60fps

Wow it was a joke, she bought it for my birthday and I'm hella stoked, lmao. Didn't think anyone would take that completely seriously, my bad.
I assumed I would just install from the CDs or something but I'm curious if there's a way to pre-load beforehand or not use CDs at all, since I ran out of SATA cables and my optical drive is unplugged.
