I was playing fine last night, turn my PC on today and load the game up and every time it gets stuck at "did you know heists are available" on the loading screen, and then if I leave it long enough it crashes

So, it seems people with the same/worse specs than me are getting better performance maxed. I've got a 4770k, 780 and 16GB and I'm running every V. High with Extended Shadow Distance maxed, and averaging 45fps with lows of 27fps and highs of 59 (v-sync @ 59Hz). Other people are saying they're locked at 60fps so what the fuck?

Anyway, it's given me a new perspective on life, this game. I'll just be out on a leisurely cruise when a level 2/3 starts blasting away at my armored Karuma. Concered about the paintjob of my car, this frightened me and I immediately pull out a micro-smg and blast that shit hardcore.
tldr; there are too many people who are aggressive as shit and don't know there's a very little chance they'll shoot me.

Man this port is pretty great in my experience. I did have to change the mouse settings to Direct Input since Raw Input seemed to get some sort of lag, but performance wise it's really good. I'm getting above 60fps at 1080p on low with the exception of 16x AF, and population density and distance scaling which are both set to the middle. This surprised me cause I have an ATI 5870, I7 920@3.67 ghz and 8 gigs of ram. I was more worried that I would have to run at a resolution below 1080 to get 60fps. What I don't quite get is that there are people in this thread with specs better than mine yet get worse performance.
Anyway which houses are you guys buying? I've been cruising around looking for ones with a nice location, but they all seem to be centered in LS. I bought one in Sandy Shores, I'm planning on buying a high end so I can start heists, but what other ones are worth getting?
Does that stocks glitch where you invest in a crap one still work?

ugh thought i would be playing today but nope.. seems to have dropped to 100kb/s after i left for work, 12 hours left..
This game is literally unplayable now. After a couple of minutes it starts stuttering every now and then and huge chunks of the roads and buildings disappear. I'm using 1.5gb/2gb vram.

It's definitely better in the graphics/performance ratio. Can't really directly compare the performance.
And yes i'd say if you can run GTA IV fine, you'll run GTA V.

I was hoping there'd be a [sp]crack[/sp] coming out soon, but from what I hear, Rockstar has a very hard-to-break system in place to prevent this sort of thing. I'm not interested in MP at all, so that's why I couldn't justify re-buying this game if a crack was out. I'm dying to play this though and think I might just bite the bullet and buy it. Now I've already pre-downloaded the torrent files and installed it. If was I was to buy it through Steam, what would I have to do with moving files into which folders?

Hey, could any of you guys go through the control setups on PC and check if each gear has its own keyboard button on manual? I'm curious how optimized the game is for steering wheels with a clutch and gear shift!
