Holy batman the retail version is retarded, install + 5 gigs of downloadables at 20kbps-400 kbps, biased toward the lower end and mandatory lost connections after 40 seconds. I mean what the hell R*
Does the retail version have a steam key?
FXAA is fucking horrid never use it
[editline]i eat ass[/editline]
literally a blur filter
MSAA doesn't seem worth it, very big framerate hit even for 2x.
I just used an SMAA injector, FXAA is a tad blurry but SMAA does a pretty good job and doesn't have any real performance hit.
So I got the whole
thing again after I reinstalled the game. If the same thing happens that happened last time, the next time I play the game it will bluescreen my PC. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but I'd like if the damn game didn't crash. Anyone found the solution to this shit?
Same error for me. Was happening last night and tried all the solutions I could find. Verifying Game Integrity did nothing but removing those two d3d dlls seemed to have reduced the crashes for me as well as getting rid of my stuttering.
I moved the install to my SSD and gonna try that tonight when I get home from work. Also I'm using the latest Game Ready drivers. Hopefully a patch fixes this soon.
EDIT: the strange thing is that I'm not getting a BSOD with this error it only crashes the game
*knocks on wood*
If you have these specs:
i5-2500k
GTX 680 2GB
and want 60fps locked, use these settings:

I get to the game's splash logo screen, and it freezes, or crashes. Solutions?

there's also a decent amount of talk on the nvidia forums about the latest drivers being kind of bunk

Getting into car crashes in first person is terrifying.
Is anyone still locked out of the game because the launcher crashes? I hope there is a fix before I get home. I tried the graphics card method where you disable it but my screen goes blank and I have to restart my computer, am I doing anything wrong?

especially when you fly through the window

can't believe i forgot about this i've used it for a shitload of games before.
Atleast you are done with that stupid fucking downloading from useless piece of shit as Rockstar Social club is
Yeah, Could have been worse I guess. I don't have to download it again, looks like.
And that's good because my top speed is like 1 mb/s

the director mode is a lot of fun
[sp]also you will not believe how many tries this took[/sp]
so should i install the new drivers on 8.1? saw some people having troubles the other day

nvidia drivers
I'm honestly surprised how well it performs, I was expecting to be disappointed after the long wait. Only issue I'm having is frequent crashing during GTA Online, mostly during a race I'll be about to take 1st place and the game craps out; Other than that, it's all good.

THANK GOD i'm not getting the insane BSODs these people are I really feel sorry for them. Maybe I'll try to roll back my drivers to see if that helps with the crash. I'll report back when I do that tonight.

From the looks of it you should hold off. ^
The game currently runs fine - aside from huge stutters when driving, but apparently everybody is getting that issue.
By default without the new nvidia drivers SLI is disabled right? I'm getting 60-90fps on my 580's at 1080p with 2xmsaa and most settings on veryhigh.
I'm astounded at how good it runs.

The blue screen came with a different error that said something about files being corrupt and to restart or reinstall the game. So I reinstalled the game last night. Still got that d3d error, hopefully will never see the corrupt one again cuz that bsod my computer.
I'll try underclocking my GPU, I think it came with a factory overclock, but it hasn't caused problems before that I know of.
I got the 3d3 init crash on my old nvidia drivers and the launch ready drivers, so that isn't the problem for me.

You can run most things on very high with a single 580? I am running at around normal-high on a 760.

well shit...what drivers did you roll back to and from the 350.12?
I get past the login phase, but when the game actually starts up, the splash logo screen freezes and crashes. Nvidia related?

I think it really depends on your other hardware as well such as your CPU and RAM.
so excited to go and pick up the game
then spend 5 hours installing, and 4 hours downloading
and play it tomorrow :(
well shit...what drivers did you roll back to and from the 350.12?
I didn't roll back, I tried playing the game first without the new drivers because I read they caused problems for some people, and then I got the 3d3 init error, so I tried installing the new drivers, played the game again and got the files corrupt error followed by the bsod, then I reinstalled the game and played it for 2 hours this morning with no problems until I got the 3d3 init error again. Trying the underclock right now, still on 350.12

Try running it in windowed mode? You can set the launch options to -windowed or use ALT + Enter
I'ma roll back to 347.88 when i get home from school and i'll report back
Fuck yeah.... I just Bypassed shitty rockstar servers by downloading 5GB patch from mega...

ah ok...that's a shame. Some reports show that 347.88 works on the Nvidia forums.

Please let us know if it helps. I'll probably try this as well.
