Yet none fix the actual performance, you'd think the devs would make that the top priority
Each patch is slowly making it better, I've seen an increase in performance.
How is another open world survivalcraft game, early access, a top seller with "mostly positive" reviews? Do people never learn or is it actually decent?
It's actually a fun game with friends. Once optimization is fleshed out, it can be a truly great game.
I'm already nearing 200 hours on the game, there's a lot to do for an EA game. More than any other survival game at this point. They also do a lot of content updates and really listen to the community.
Just recently we got a new dinosaur added into this game. I got the chance to talk to the devs cause my group found out a bug that would crash the server, he even gave us a few copies of the game to give to friends. But he jumped in the server and we got to talk for 3+ hours, and they fixed it on our server and then pushed out a patch.
We also were able to put our input in about some things, and I know it probably wasn't only us, but the next patch is including a suggestion we had.
The devs really seem on top of updating this game.
You'll have to make sure that your Dinosaurs are safe and have enough food to survive the night when you log out or they'll die. It's like one of these Tomogachi things or what they were called.

When you log off your dinos don't lose hunger, or it's at a very reduced rate.

Really?! Well then someone tricked me on the Server... He told me that my raptor will survive about 12 hours with 20 meat. Every time i logged off i'd make sure that all of my Dinos had enough food to survive the time i was sleeping and at Work. :v:
Just a collection of clips from my first time playing ark the other week.

I can live up to my Canadian heritage and ride beavers around.
The latest updates have done wonders for my performance.
I'm able to get 40-50 FPS on high graphics settings. Before I could barely break 30 on any setting.
i bought it a few hours ago, really fun but runs like total shit on my 970
Getting a refund. Game is completely unplayable for me.
Hahaha any settings other than Epic or High are absolutely shit.
This game shouldn't be this demanding on a 970gtx
My game is just getting worse with updates
Steam's new refund policy is legit. Got mine refunded overnight.
Well, I asked Orkel to change the thread title because it seems like the games isn't too bad afterall and some people here look like they're having a blast.
It's just been bugging me every time I was lurking in the thread.
[editline]21st June 2015[/editline]
Though we'd probably be better off making a new thread and OP but I don't think anyone would be arsed to do that. Sure won't be me. :v:
why are they only doing an inventory wipe? if you're gonna do a wipe, at least commit and wipe everything.
all those people that duped already have tons of metal structures. anyways, doesn't seem like this game is very popular with facepunchers. really wish FP had its own tribe
why bother with a wipe at all, apart from when it leaves EA, cheaters gonna cheat and your just punishing people who actually put time in
are you kidding? Wipes should be common in EA, cause of issues like duping.
looks like they are doing a full wipe now. who wants to start a tribe ?
So they wiped everything but levels. Pretty cool, kind of wish they just went with a complete restart.
I was hoping they would do a wipe, but they executed it all so weirdly.
Seems I might take a couple days+ of a break from the game. Or just start entirely fresh (which is what I wanted)
Why are people actually buying this game? It Honestly looks like a pile of Dog Shit.
Infact a pile of Dog Shit looks better

Because it's fun, they update pretty much every other day, the devs actually respond to exploits pretty quickly.
This is a game where you need to have friends to play with though.
I really want to get this game, but I'm kinda cautious because it's EA and all that. Have they said anything about changing the UI or at least the font of it? Also anything about generating random worlds/maps?

I beg to differ. I joined a server and managed to build a full base with fence and raptors, by myself.
I'm thinking of starting a tribe of Raptor Riders.
I don't understand how anyone can play this game and enjoy it. The netcode is fucking horrendous, dinosaurs rubber banding around whatnot, it feels like the most unpolished game I have ever played...seriously.
Maybe I am just getting old but this shit is so broken...I just don't even know how people are legitimately playing it when I go to attack a trike and it's just spazzing out all over the place.
I keep going to play this game, but I either have to deal with playstation graphics at 30fps or pretty awesome graphics are 8fps. Really no middle ground.
I have a 680gtx 4gb and a two year old i7 3.8ghz, which can near-max any other game, so It's a little disappointing.
Well, at least the optimization can and will get better as the time goes by.

Do you get this on all servers or just the Official ones with large player counts? I've been playing on a personal server with 5-6 friends on pretty constantly with increased dino spawns and no one has had any rubber-banding whatsoever. I've got just short of 100 hours on this game and the only real glitches outside of the exploits that are already patched that i've seen were the megalodon's beaching themselves and some dinosaurs not reacting well with caves. The first has already been patched and the latter has a year left of early access to be fixed, not that it matters because the team basically patches the game daily at this point.
Also in other news, I've tamed 5 Dodos, 3 Dilos, 5 Raptors, 2 Turtles, 2 Crocs, 5 Megalodons, 1 Carnosaur, 1 Ankylosaur, 1 Pteradon, 1 Argentavis, 1 T-rex, 1 Parasaur, 5 Scorpions, 2 Megapiranhas, 1 Trike, and 1 Mammoth since I started playing. I'm pretty sure I have about 3 larger dinos to tame not counting cave creatures(I have no clue if I can tame spiders/bats) and I could definitely spend a lot of hours just trying different base designs at different locations. That's not even mentioning all the custom server options the dev's gave over the previous week, so you'll start to see a lot more custom/tweaked servers that play entirely different than the default game.
My sound dies 5 seconds within opening the game. Any idea why?
Well it made it to the menu now before it died, I don't know what is causing it.
How hard is it to host a private server? I want to play together with my buddy, but I have no interest in joining public servers.
New patch notes!

Two new dinos!
* Shader Model 4 (DX9, DX10) mode now looks a TON better, with proper light intensities, shadows and night lighting and dynamic lighting
* NEW DINO: Plesiosaurus (with custom saddle!)
* NEW DINO: Ichthyosaurus (with custom saddle!)
* NEW STRUCTURE: Poison Gas Trap
* NEW FEATURE: Emote Wheel!
* Players are no longer allowed to carry more than 20% over their maximum Inventory Weight, as this was otherwise exploitable when standing on Dinos.
* Nonviolent Taming method for Ichthyosaurus (will follow-up with implementation for all Herbivores soon)
* AFK kick Timer at spawn/respawn screen: server configurable, default 30 minutes
* Structure Paint effect looks much better and fully covers the surfaces
* Preparation for tomorrow's Mac & Linux game releases :)
* doubled smithy and fabricator weight limits
* configurable server auto save interval
* pipes/cables are no longer considered "enemy" foundations that prevent building nearby
* Obelisk terminals no longer get an auto-demolish timer
* Sabertooth level-up damage scaling ramp reduced by 50%
* In online PvP, use of sleeping bags now triggers cooldown to all your sleeping bags nearby.
* Taming with Higher Taming Affinity now increases base level of dino, improving its base statistics (previously wasn't doing much, was only generally increasing their damage)
* Added missing mammoth dossier
* Using spyglass now shows Floating HUD of Dinos, Players, or Structures that you are _directly pointing at_, for long range reconnaissance
* C4 can now be placed & detonated underwater
* Buff timers no longer 'appear' to reset when you relogin
* Mod makers can now override the minimap and spawn regions
* Dragging a body no longer removes your FPV hands (bug required players to manually switch to weapon and then back to hands to restore their hands :-P )
* Various minor bug fixes

plesiosaurs and ichtyosaurs are fucking AQUATIC REPTILES not DINOSAURS
YOU FUCKS
no but seriously
How is the framerate fore the game these days? I'm looking to get it in the future since my friend is having a hell of a good ime
Bought the game yesterday and I'm really enjoying it. Playing with a friend on private server and we have had no problems so far. Hunting the meals, crafting, building a base and pooping all over the place is actually quite entertaining. Sure, the optimization still sucks and the game runs with around ~30 FPS, but to my surprise I'm still having lots of fun.
I can't wait to see this game grow and most importantly get better optimization. I wanted a good dinosaur game and this game sure has the potential.
OOh, it's 17% off today
Guess I'm finally gonna buy it.
