I hear this game is nothing but high level trolls going around blocking resources and destroying offline player bases, but the dinos still intrigue me. Would you guys recommend this to a mostly solo player with a sub par machine?

Also what do you mean by sub par.
I hear this game is nothing but high level trolls going around blocking resources and destroying offline player bases, but the dinos still intrigue me.
Endgame people raiding, both offline and on? It's just like any other survival game. Most people complaining about that don't have metal bases though. Just get a good enough hiding spot and get enough metal to build a metal house and you'll be better off.
Can you update the OP with more information relevant to the game since this seems like the main thread everybody is going to talk in?
The devs surely promise a lot of things for this summer. I'm eagerly waiting to see how they succeed in it. I hope they don't promise too much.

I feel like I have gotten more money's worth in one month of Ark Updates than I have since owning things like The Forest or Subnautica since they have been released.

I just love how fast they are pulling out these updates. Like the game's performance could be completely different in few weeks. They sure have a lot of motivation and seem to actually get things done. Also I really like how the dev answers the questions in the QA thread. The improved taming and dinosaur AI will be totally awesome. Not to mention things like procedurally generated Ark and improved building system. Like I said earlier, this game has tons of potential.
This game in the past 5 major version changes has added more content than DayZ in a year. I've been playing the hell out of it on my private dedi and it's just overall fantastic. My only gripe is collecting fiber. It takes ages. The devs said on reddit though they're adding a sickle.
So the dinosaurs rubberbanding back and forth from me when I attacked them only happens on full servers? That was more or less the only reason I got a refund.

Decided to buy it to at least try it. GTX 770 + i5 4690 system, medium settings @ 1680x1050. My framerate jumped between 5-15 FPS on a completely empty beach. Thank god for Steam refunds
I would like to try it, though I might give it another month of development to try it. I don't want a bad taste of it if it gets better later.
Aside from being forced to 10 years old graphics for a cinematic 30 fps I'm having a great time. Starting out is really hard though, if you're out exploring some of the hostile dinos are pretty much impossible to evade if they aggro you, and it takes time before you can craft a bed to set up your base
Weird, my GPU and CPU are both worse than yours, but I get a steady 30FPS everywhere.
Are you using 100% resolution scaling?
I have GTX 970 and i7-3770 @ 1920x1080 100% resolution scaling. Epic textures and some options high/medium/low. Getting pretty good 30~40 FPS on the beach and around 30 in the forest areas. I don't usually like playing with such "low" FPS, but this game is really fantastic. Burned 26 hours in three days alone and can't wait to play more tomorrow. Dinosaurs for the fucking win!
Are you using 100% resolution scaling?
I'm on all medium, so probably not. Game still looks pretty good though, the only downside is the draw distance is a bit short.
I don't understand how anyone can play this game and enjoy it. The netcode is fucking horrendous, dinosaurs rubber banding around whatnot, it feels like the most unpolished game I have ever played...seriously. Maybe I am just getting old but this shit is so broken...I just don't even know how people are legitimately playing it when I go to attack a trike and it's just spazzing out all over the place.
The offical servers are laggy, try an unoffical one. they're usually less laggy anyways, i'm 300 hours in and still in love with this game. playing solo, i basically have a metal fortress in the middle of the map, with tons of walls after walls that deter any raiders. how's everyone doing ?
Anyone know of a working trainer for the latest version (local only obviously)? I can only find either out of date stuff or malwares
I've just been playing singleplayer for now. I'm glad they let you tweak things like XP gain and tame rates so it doesn't feel too slow playing solo. Has anyone seen the new sea creatures yet? I haven't even seen Megaladons lately, just piranhas that like to spawn right on top of me.

If you tame a single water creature Itchy's will spawn non-stop because they're cheeky motherfuckers, and they'll orgy around it.
I just found the most badass looking Parasaur I've seen in the game: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8512731/ARK/ShooterGame%202015-07-05%2023-35-05-62.jpg[/t] Now I just have to keep it alive :3
Also can I make a proper thread for the game if I have the time? The current one is just a random thread turned into "discussion". I could probably do a nice looking thread and try to keep it updated.
Do it up.
Anyone tried this yet? [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/q75A4c9.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/oKMtx0X.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/OVzSNmT.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1kGCFDY.jpg[/thumb]
Can we create an official FP tribe somewhere ? it'd be awesome to work together to take over a server. Maybe after the next wipe
Currently I'm on PvE 441 But if we get our own I'm down with that.
Yeah I'm definitely interested
I hope someone makes a mod to add Jurassic Park dinosaur sounds or something. The current ones are alright, but not really that great. The JP ones probably aren't all that accurate but they're definitely memorable and intimidating.
I personally want a Land of the Lost mod, or a mod that takes place in a run down city filled with dinosaurs.
