I have enough credit on Steam to get this game, I've been looking at it for a few days now but still can't decide if I want it or not.

If you don't mind having optimization issues (it's still EA), go for it.
If you have friends definitely get it.
They update bi-daily usually, and they have a pretty quick fix rate when a bug gets announced.

I've been playing singleplayer fine. I upped the taming rates and xp gain a bit to speed things along since I don't have other people to specialize for things. I'm happy to have gotten it simply for the fact that it gets updated so much/ They're doing EA right.
Ended up getting it. Have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. There a quick start guide somewhere?

The options for all sorts of things is really nice. It's easy to just change these settings for server as well. I'm playing with my friend so we are using the fastened taming speed as well. I just love the freedom to tweak the settings as I like.
Which reminds me that the UI/HUD [B]REALLY[/B] needs some serious options. I'd want to change the font and the darn ugly colors. Not to mention I'd like to hide the [I]useless[/I] and most annoying "Mate Boost" text. Hell, I'd replace it with a simple icon rather than an ugly text.

One of the top guides on Steam is a decent quick-start video.
So guys if we were to play together what would be a good server to go on and meet up?
When they add new dinosaurs do they just get added into the spawn system or does a new island have to be made?

I think they just get added in same island
Alright i don't know if this is normal, I am level 63 and i get defeated by any creature that is lvl 4 or even 2. Is this somehow a bug?

They replace spawns of previous dinos.
Like spinos replaced most the sarco spawns outside the caves.
Also some dinos might have increased spawn rates until another creature is put in.
Like how the two flyers probably will have reduced spawns when more flyers get put in.

So, i am at a cave, trying to build step by step barricading the caves. I noticed that the lava heat will not fill you're health. And the bats, spiders,scorpions keeps respawning at places, as i need crystals, it seems impossible to go through it. Is there a way to go through this? Maybe does the heat stop if i completely seal the lava perhaps? I keep getting these spiders, dilo's and it just keeps coming back. This is very annoying.

You are most likely at the south east cave which isn't the best cave to live in.
I suggest going to the very south cave, or the northeast island cave.
That one isn't the best for farming creatures/crystals if you don't want to have to constantly drink water/etc.
Also the very south one is small enough to where they won't constantly respawn as you go up/down.

Yeah, i am at the east side. I kept trying barricade through the cave for safety, but yeah if it is really hard, i should try the other south cave.
This is what i had, Full water support included in the cave. Yeah that much of effort went to it. :v:

My new base is coming along pretty darn nicely. Me and my buddy plan on building a huge base and then perhaps even upgrade it to metal some day. After getting the Mammoth the wood is no longer a problem :D (though I want the Beaver <3)

Spawned some Titanoboas and force tamed them. Problem is that you can't access their inventory and they won't stop moving unless they get stuck (like in the pic with the gate). So yeah, as badass the boa is there is no way to use them in their current state. ;_;

I actually believe you can tame one but it's incredibly difficult. They are immune to poison but you can get them knocked out by punching them. The problem will be bringing food back and fourth in the cave.

It looks really good, light reflection is a bit to much but the game looks really good especially for it being in early access.
Does the game still have major performance issues? Is there a way to figure out which of the like 10 launch options I should use?
I've not played since launch, so hopefully there have been improvements.
I play with the -useallavailablecores and the -sm4 command lines and I get between 60 and 70 fps.
Sure it looks a little worse but ill sacrifice that not to play at sub 30 framerates.
27 fps with an i7 and 970 GTX is abysmal
