I feel like even at 2 chapters the game was excessively long, so god knows what 5 would be like, although I'd hope that 90% of the filler missions would be replaced with story based ones
It's only excessively long because of the filler missions and the game's side-ops cycle in the first place. Want to have an easier time? Better go grind some resources, men and GMP for better-developed weapons, and then some more resources and GMP so you can use those weapons. And if someone's gunning for all side tasks in the missions, it really can change up the mission variety but simultaneously has some truly heinously bad ones in there. The entire game is literally designed to waste extra time just to pad things out.
I think the truth mission is only there because of the cuts. "We can't ship this game without the big twist"
the thing is I can see how bored you'd get when you're just fultoning tanks or doing the same fucking kill heavy infantry etc but then near the end of chapter 1 and chapter 2 the game actually remmebers it's a MGS game and unloads tons of great voice acting, story philosophy and satisfactions it's just inbetween a lot of filler, like a really shit anime
[t]http://i.imgur.com/JzkByvq.jpg[/t] It's a damn shame what's happened to this game
I question the legitimacy of this a lot. If this were truly how many chapters they intended to have then Konami would never have let them do it and therefore Kojima wouldn't have caved. The major issue with TPP as a whole is that the marketing was a complete lie and basically half the true product was made. We were supposed to see the downfall of Big Boss' legacy. [sp]The game infers he does end up bad but all the shit we wanted and needed to see occurs after the game ends.[/sp]
[t]http://i.imgur.com/JzkByvq.jpg[/t] It's a damn shame what's happened to this game
Getting upset over that is crazy. It would either have to be Chapter 1 changed into like 2-3 of those chapters, or a game that's already 70-100 hours being 2-3 times the size. That's fucking insane to demand that much.
But you did see the downfall of Big Boss' legacy. I don't understand people who claim he didn't [sp]BB was never going to be generically evil by just shooting a bunch of children or nuking them BB willingly left his comrades behind, and stole the life of an innocent man just to protect his own hide.He used a man like a tool, which is something he seceded from the US for when they did it to the Boss. He became a hypocrite and a monster.[/sp]
Makes more sense with Kojima saying he's worried some people would never finish the game.

It's fun how it still leaves Big Boss' intents to subjectivity since we know he formed Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land the way he did to fight Cipher and the Patriots, but simultaneously evidence from his MG2 monologues and his actions in PW/TPP point to the fact that he's basically become no better than Zero during his worst days, willing to use whatever means necessary to fulfill his goals even if he has to leave his morals and true comrades behind. And all because of a grudge he never realized Zero had never intended to create.[/sp]

With how much of an emotional manchild(and regular child) Liquid is, I'm surprised he forgave Ocelot and decided to work with him in MGS1 after all the ass whoopings and I think he [sp]tortured him at one point or got really close to doing it[/sp] Ocelot probably let him get in a free hit and Liquid had no problem punching an old man [editline]10th October 2015[/editline]
i can't blame Konami too much for cutting it down though, even i think six chapters would have been unreasonable. they just cut it in the worst way possible
Aren't all of these extra chapters fake though? I think 51 was really supposed to be the end of the game and an extra chapter or chapters got cut not by Konami, but by the team since it would have been unreasonable to create so much content. I would have rather had an episode 2 that wasn't just rehashed missions. We probably would have had to go back to Camp Omega for some Skullface stuff

[sp]The entire area is quite clearly completed, and the cutscene data for at least the lead up into the boss fight and the ending itself are finished, and they could've literally done just a chopper drop-in like any other mission with unique dialogue over it. All they had to do was get the facial animation and then finish the touch-ups on graphical effects and.. well, it would be finished. Maybe like 40-50% of the cutscene should've been the missing effects, but seriously, all the motion-capture is there besides for faces, and Snake's face looks like his made it in at least.[/sp]

Just realized it's impossible for me to 100% my 200 hour save because I can't complete a mission task due to the disappearing blueprint glitch. The phantom pain is real
I doubt there actually were 5 chapters but I don't blame Konami for pulling the plug either way. Kojima had $80 million and several years to make this but in the end we have a bare bones story for Chapter 1, an unfinished Chapter 2 that's mainly repeat missions and at least Chapter 3 was cut. That's Tim Schafer level budgeting.
Most of that time and money went into FOX Engine itself, plus an indescript amount of time into Silent Hills. Kojima was probably coasting on the idea that MGSV would take a while to complete fully given his perfectionist streaks, but Konami stomping their foot down may have royally fucked everything for all we know.

Just a reminder that MGS4 was 70 million.

Although it's really unfair to compare them since eastern european devs can make games out of nothing
I finally finished The Man Who Sold the World and lsitened to all the truth tapes I... I love it guys I love the ending I can't believe I ever bitched about it
Yeah I REALLY fucking hated it at first. But I've grown to accept it. Not the best ending to the series, but I guess it could have been worse.
Just a reminder that MGS4 was 70 million.
MGS4 was a finished game though and didn't need a couple more years or many millions on top of that. Between cut content, a ridiculous amount of scrapped Muranaka songs etc who knows what else Kojima wasted resources on?
snip nevermind

I would have been happy had it just ended with the game coming full circle, all i really wanted was a Solid Snake cameo at the end or something! :(
