This game is set in the 80's yet there are zero ridiculously bright, neon coloured crazy outfits for anyone to wear. Imagine walking around MotherBase when everyone is wearing their greatest 80's outfits.

I feel robbed!
yeah this game has some psychic ass guards
the previous games probably did too, but it was a lot less obvious most of the time
In previous games it was not as easy to discern thanks to the way the games either had a map system or literally no way of determining that the enemies were coming for you without literally seeing them run for you. It's extremely obvious here since you can mark enemies and see them running for you through the walls.
and good fucking luck if the defender has their platform leveled up at all. that extra strut infinitely improves the effectiveness of a highground position, and the bridge is such an effective chokepoint that easily takes advantage of the defender's vision
A strut can work in your favor. Okay sure, it would be easier if all defenders kept their platform at level 1 so you could take their nuke on the platform, but all platform types (Literally all of them!) have this position on the left hand side that's good for sniping.
Get that autoloading antimaterial rifle ready. Unless they are close to you, soliders who spot a sniper sometimes won't call an alert but radio that they are firing morters, so when that happens just start running.
Also, what einstein thinks its a good idea to put nonlethal troops on when you have nukes? You can often run right past them without fear. Actually, I just did that. Easiest nukestealing ever.
Dunno if others have experienced this but on the PS4 the AI in some places is utter shit, i'll sneak into a base and plant C4 or tripmines with a decoy, i'll blow it up remotely and for some reason the other alerted guards will run right to my exact location where i pressed the remote detonator even if i've made no noise or anything and i'm hidden, they even do it while wearing the stealth camo and even do it if i silenced weapon shoot explosive barrels, EVEN when i'm like 200m outside of the damn base and haven't even fired a shot, its really fucking annoying and needs to be fixed.
Speaking of FOBs, how do you color them? My MB is dark green but my FOBs are orange.
Probably endgame spoilers:
[sp]So I may be over analyzing here but something I noticed that was really interesting was how your DD soldiers (and pretty much everyone else) will flinch and be knocked back when you walk into them or they walk into you whereas in the Prologue when you bump into the real Big Boss i.e Ishmael you're the one who's knocked back and flinched.[/sp]
May just be a cinematic thing so the game could rail road you down a certain path with ease and didn't have to worry about your actions knocking the AI off path but it's still an interesting little mechanical subtlety that could be hinting to [sp]who's the real deal[/sp].

exactly
also because the levels were a lot more closed off

So if you bring D-Walker with the fulton cannon on Traitor's Caravan, you can just fulton out the truck without the [sp]skulls[/sp] ever coming out of it. Which I guess means that at motherbase, you've now received a truck with 4 [sp]skulls[/sp] in it? That's gonna be fun for whoever has to check the truck.

It's most likely just coincidental. The prologue is the only mission where it has to play out an elaborate scripted sequence where you follow someone. There's no other sequence like it in the entire game, so we have nothing to compare it to. Since there's no way to prove it wrong, that's a perfectly valid interpretation, but it's more then likely just video gaminess.

C'mon, you can't just make something like that without sharing the settings
Just got spotted at ~300m by an enemy UAV that wasn't looking at me before I shot it once with a suppressed sniper rifle while prone and it then started an alarm instantaneously. Good to know.
I'm really choked that FOBs hardly work. I've only gotten it to work about 2 times for defending an ally's FOB, even though I've gotten like 20 requests for help.
Its really fun when it does work, but I wish it wasnt so shitty :c
Aw yeah my copy of the Soundtrack arrived. Cool shit.

I noticed last night that a good shot to the core box of a UAV will destroy it instantly with a Brennan at the very least.

Didnt know this was what I wanted but it is, can I get the Avatar info?
Also I just had a hell of a time with pure stealth. Phantom Limbs, using the Infinite Heaven mod I enabled a secondaries-enabled Subsistence. With only a lethal pistol to my name, I crawled through with no alerts, not even a caution, and used only hold-ups with no shots fired. It was actually incredibly satisfying to get a No Traces S-Rank, even if it was the first real mission of the game.

I've noticed that if guards aren't on alert and you throw a grenade, it's fine. But if they're searching for you and you throw it, they'll fire at you even if they didn't see where it came from. What the fuck.

That bump tech has always been in MGS, you probably just can't bump into Ishmael because they don't want you messing with the scripting

Oo I didn't know there was locational damage in this game.
In other news, I used another piece of advice from this thread. I cleared the first strut and then the owner came to defend, but the combat strut had a full 4/4 platforms, so I had time to roost up in the 4 story tower. I don't know who it was that recommended that I simply defend and retreat, but it worked.
Kinda felt like Sniper Wolf or something and he had just been sent on a bossfight to kill me. He tried rockets and counter sniping and simply sprinting at me but he was wearing an EOD suit and I was wearing a stealth suit, so even when he did find me, I just rolled out of the way, threw smoke, and NVGs made it look like bullets were just coming out of nowhere after switching levels. The MRS staggers players slightly even if you hit them in the chest :) I killed a bunch of dudes of his while he sat around thinking about what to do in between shots. After I nailed him a few times I decided to stop testing my luck and retreated to the portal with 10 dudes and some resources. Finally, half-revenge.
I'm really not a fan of sniping in games pretty much ever, I've always thought it's just something that little middle schoolers obsess over, but that just felt... cool. I recommend it instead of continuing your random act of jihad when a defender arrives. It's a shame that retreats aren't considered Draws.

Yes because [sp]Calling Venom Ahab and himself Ishmael was so subtle :v: Ahab being the captain of the whaling ship Pequod, while Ishmael is the protagonist[/sp]

Ya know come to think of it [sp]One of the only other people in the game to call you Ahab is Pequod. Meaning he's probably in on it.
Pequod is Morpho.
He's alive I tell you.[/sp]
I don't get why so many people are outraged over Quiet's outfit. I mean its pretty obvious to understand why she dresses like that (and I'm not talking about the biological reasons).
Were they too furious over it to pay attention to cut scenes with her in it?
Yay, I finally got the "Snake, you stink!" cutscene :v:
[sp]TOO BAD QUIET IS DEAD SO I DIDN'T GET TO TAKE A SHOWER WITH HER[/sp] (mission 45 spoilers)
Is there any tutorials or anything regarding swapping models?
Yes because [sp]Calling Venom Ahab and himself Ishmael was so subtle :v: Ahab being the captain of the whaling ship Pequod, while Ishmael is the protagonist[/sp]
Mechanical subtlety not narrative, Kojima always waved his symbolism in your face. More likely just a programming thing anyway, but I'm an A level English student so...
also the helicopter animations
it's weird japanese fan-service. cool character, but goddamn.
ever since i unlocked [sp] the XOF uniform, everything feels so much more right. I no longer feel the need to not wear a shirt.[/sp]
[sp]I finally removed the butterfly and let Quiet go today. I might try to get her back with mods later but it still hurts man :/[/sp]
less of an outrage and more of a not rly cool outfit
and people claiming it isnt purely out of fanservice clearly didn't notice any cutscenes she was in (those butt/titzooms lmao)
But it isn't purely for fanservice
It's a huge part of it, but there are reasons why shes like that

I see people calling Kojima childish and other insulting names though.
[sp]Also it isn't fanservice without a reason. I think its quite easy to infer that she's trying to seduce Snake (who you usually play as) without having to speak. Maybe it could be done better, but saying its for 15 year olds to jerk off is pretty stupid.[/sp]
