Metal Gear Solid - A Hideo Kojima Thread - Flimsy Huey and the Phooey Fallacy
I think Kojima said he wanted to continue in the game's industry, even if it isn't Metal Gear, but i'm not sure.
Honestly, the only way anyone could continue the heart of Metal Gear is with indie games that don't have the license but try for the style, unless somehow someone at Konami manages to get the series under reign and continue making decent (even if not Kojima-quality) titles. And they'd probably just butcher the ending and point of MGS4 unless they made an alternate continuity to leap from like the series is prone to doing.
unless it goes into the future like mgr or deep into the past pre-snake eater with bb in korea there isn't a whole lot of timeline left to explore.
imagine if kojima moved on to make ac!d 3, but instead of playing like the previous 2 games, it was instead about a young solid snake trying to become the best card battler, like yugioh.
If there are going to be any more Metal Gear games I want them to be kooky spin offs. I feel like we're done with the main series now and anything else is pushing it.

Thus the spinoff idea. We have the aforementioned AC!D, and Ghost Babel. I can imagine all sorts of points in the series that could branch off into their own storylines, or alternatively start a new timeline over with a new Snake and a new world with its own conflicts and issues.
I say Snake because whether it's David Hayter or Keifer Sutherland or even some other voice actor, it's clear the series can't let get of the codename unless you're Raiden.
Fuck escort missions.
Just spent two hours on 18. I give up.

Any tips that might help through it?
all the camos feel so incredibly useless, has anyone done any testing with them to see their effectiveness?

Naked Animal is the most effective camo
Do people even play FOBs? I've had one defender show up while attacking out of about 50 attacks. I've had one defense request from people I'm supporting (where the guy left immediately), and zero invasions on my FOB.
I get a decent amount of support requests but for some reason I haven't had an invasion to my FOB in like two weeks
I think most people probably don't realize they should support other people to get some support back

MGR 2 when :(
The game's not even trying to PRETEND to be broken when my rockets are somehow passing through pixel spaces of helicopters and pretending I didn't hit them at all

Still want my game about the Cobra Unit back in WWII. That's the only thing left that I give any shits about and would want to explore from the series.

I haven't been able to invade without a defender joining the match in less than 30 seconds.

I managed to do it first time with Quiet covering my escape. Having a silenced tranq rifle should also make things easier.
If you're up to it, you can try neutralising guards that are close to the jail cell to prevent the base from entering alert mode. Also, do the mission at night, not only is it easier to sneak by guards but you will also be able to see the helicopters searchlight, which indicates how much it can see.

The one with the [sp]kids[/sp] offering you diamonds?
Just destroy the anti air radar in advance, then as soon as you let them out of the cell, put them all to sleep, call helicopter right at your head and just stockpile em in it :v:
Well shit, I lost my only S++ guy in a combat deployment. At least it was successful.
I don't know why anyone thought a sniper fight on a system with no analog control was a good idea. This is the least fun I've ever had fighting a boss.

They all have analog control though?

S Ranked it on my first try without Quiet (used DD). The trick is just to move fast; if you move quickly enough, the guards won't have spread out yet, and you'll make it past the Hind before it starts searching for you in that valley.
They all have analog control though?
PSX didn't have analog pads at the start and MGS1 doesn't properly support them because the reticle moves at full speed regardless of how much you push the stick.
EDIT: nevermind it does have actual analog control, it's just shitty and has a 50% deadzone so you can't aim slowly
Has anyone else been having more frequent bugs and glitches as you play more? The game was perfectly fine for the first 50 hours or so, but then I've started getting shit like this.

Supply drops on her head.
Do we ever find out why Chico had a headphone Jack in his ches or is that just a completely dropped plot point
Also a bit confused did Miller lose his limbs in the vagina bombing or being interrogated by the Soviets

You can see blood on Miller's clothes (where his limbs used to be) when you rescue him. Popular theory is he lost his limbs when the Skulls attacked.
As for Chico, yeah it's never explained. My theory Chico did it himself from PTSD when they took his walkman and I think he did to plug it in and hear his heartbeat to know he's still alive. Earbuds don't work that way though so I go with heavy symbolism. Simply put Chico is pretty fucked up at that point.

i dont think that works anymore? i tested it just for fun, she usually jumps immediately before the box drops and goes to a different location. tried it again out of spite to see if it was a coincidence, and she jumped again. maybe i'm doing wrong

Does a rocket punch count as a firearm or just a fired arm?

Or you can just skip the whole escort part by destroying the radar. I was so glad when I found out you can do that, because I hate bullshit escort missions in anything
Though you have to keep in mind that the [sp]kids [/sp] will automatically run towards the scripted path to the LZ (ignoring the wait command for some reason), that is why you have to tranq them all first.

What you have to do is bait her into taking shots at you by crouching/standing repeatedly behind cover.
This makes her unable to dodge the supply drop because she can't transition to her dodge animation while trying to hit you.

You have to hop out of cover and get her to fire at you right before the drop arrives, say if the yellow number is around 100. Bit more risky on extreme (she can kill you instantly even in full battle dress :/) haven't tried the[sp]Hard helmet for soldiers yet, might have some resistence[/sp]
Tip for side objectives - you can stun grenade her, tranq her etc. to get her health down, then as long as you deliver the final attack with CQC you'll get the 'neutralized without firearm' objective
Best way is to fight her in the day and wait until she[sp]runs to the shallow pool and absorbs some of dat sweet sunlight[/sp]
