Also, (Ending spoilers) [sp]when did Ocelot use the hypnosis on Venom? I'm trying to figure out when that would have been possible but it's not making much sense. Unless during the 9 years he was able to wake him, hypnotize him, then make him forget, I don't see how it works.[/sp]
the ending [sp]truth tape with ocelot and big boss, bb specifically mentions that the medic looks like he's awake. it's likely that ocelot was able to keep him in a semi-conscious state throughout the coma to hypnotize him.[/sp]
one of the things that i like about that whole bit is how it explains in mgs2/4 [sp]ocelot's incredible ability to brainwash himself into thinking he's liquid. it's a callback but also gives it a bit of an explanation as well, showing that in MGS2/4 it's not the first time he's done something like that[/sp]

That's actually pretty cool functionality.

When it works its great but the reason I had to fast forward was because it disconnected from my PS4. That happens sometimes

Ah. What's the latency like? I can see this stuff having terrible input lag.

Its not too bad for me although mileage may vary depending on internet speed of both networks and the framerate you choose to use
Yes, the part about Campbell and FOXHOUND from PoOp's is canon.
In [sp]The Truth Records, i believe the LET one or the first Big Boss report[/sp] Ocelot says "It was after you formed FOXHOUND and left America" Which would've had to have been during Portable Ops' timeframe.
Ocelot also mentions [sp]obtaining the second half of the legacy[/sp] which is an event shown only in PoOps.
Really anyone who says PoOps is none canon is just delusional at this point. Like the whole Ghost bullshit is probably non canon but the rest is.
Generally I just consider RAXA and Gray Fox's appearances to be non-canon. Doesn't really matter if Sokolov being alive is canon or not since it doesn't affect the rest of the series.

It affects how impactful the torture scene in 3 is though. "Holy shit he just beat Sokolov to death!" is better than "Oh Sokolov just got over it."
yeah but it doesnt look charred, its pitch black with a little bit of shine
charred bone would've lost the charred dust pretty fast, given the amount of action venom gets
or obviously i'm just overthinking and its all kojima's fun and games
The doctor said both fragments of human bone and metallic shrapnel were in Snake's body. Judging from the metallic look of the horn, I'm guessing it's probably from the helicopter.

True, but remember: people don't die in Metal Gear, they just go into comas :v:

I didn't even know that was possible. How's the input lag? How far away are your parent's houses?
Ocelot in V is for all intensive purposes just a random diamond dog
He has literally no aspects of ocelot personality
Except they're both foremost japesfellows that dress like cowboys and torture people. But then again MGS3 Ocelot doesn't feel very like classic Ocelot, so I guess the problem is because he's mainly a dull advisor in MGSV.
I thought that was just the FOX unit, and it didn't become FOXHOUND until like the 90s or something
In MGS3 [sp]the end timeline says FOX was disbanded in 1970 and Big Boss established FOXHOUND in 1971.[/sp] In Poops (late 1970) Gene takes command of FOX and rebels so Big Boss establishes FOXHOUND with Campbell, which presumably gains official status a few months later in 1971. But as we know Poops has a dubious place in the canon.

What about Quiet?
"Quiet... QUIET I NEED HELP, QUIET SPOT THEM QUIET THEY ARE SHOOTING AT ME, WHY DID YOU STAY 3 KILOMETERS AWAY FROM ME?!"
"oh ok you came... thanks, oh hey heres the higher rank I wanted! I'll put him asleep"
"wait, what are you... noNONONONONO *bang* GODDAMNIT"
Still, best situation I was in was on the [sp]Mfinda oil field plant thing[/sp]. Went up the stairs that supposedly are in the front of the building, but was surrounded by more than 10 guards spreaded all around the metal catwalks. They were all shooting at me, and these fuckers are dangerous enough to the point of one alone being able to connect every single bullet on me at long range, so either go down the stairs, or try to kill them one by one, OR....
Order a bombardment strike!
The 10+ markers on the screen all disappeared as soon as it rained fire on their heads.
Didn't get to extract a single one on that mission except for the walkers, but man was that satisfying.
If you get spotted and Quiet starts covering you with a lethal rifle it's kind of your own fault anyway.
Is there some kind of an interconnected MGS event chart thingy? Not as a single timeline because its too damn confusing, but more like a time line for each important character, and how they intertwine together

Yes kind of like that, only less spaghetti and more informativeness

I'm sure someone has made one out there, but honestly all you really need is the timeline of canonical games and to know that Ocelot is one of gaming's most magnificent bastards, and otherwise each game explains themselves pretty well all things considered. Just reading an event chart out of context sort of.. probably isn't actually all that helpful besides as a summarization of what characters do.

Just about every major character has some sort of connection to every other major character in the series (thanks in part to MGS4).

not to mention that stupid metalgeartimeline.com summary isn't even accurate, yet everyone links it anyway
"The Boss gives Russia an American nuclear head, which is used by Colonel Volgin to destroy a Russian Research Facility. In this way, it looks like the US attacked Russia, a very ingenious move setup by Russia."
Except that was Volgin's plan, not Russia's, and The Boss had go be killed by Snake to prove the U.S.'s innocence to Russia. The Boss's sacrifice makes no damn sense when you say that was Russia's idea.
Okay I have come to the conclusion that FOB soldiers have eyes on every single bit of their hitbox.
Getting spotted from around the corner because someone's fucking gun is pointing out is bullshit.

Too bad that Hiimdaisy decided to delete all of her old work. Her Persona 4 comic is pure gold too.
So did anyone notice the subtle retcon that the area of the Soviet Union you played in during MGS3 was Tselinoyarsk, not just the cliffs where The Boss threw BB into the river?
I think that the idea that Zanzibar Land is actually Tselinoyarsk might be legit after noticing that that.
The cliffs you start at are the ones near the famous ladder, the main base you infiltrate during the first half before the tower was maybe the area right before you meet The Fury, the tower was built over top the area where Grozynj Grad used to stand, the bridge thats destroyed that you have to hang glide over in MG2 was the one the Shagohod went over in MGS3, and the second half of the base and where you run to in the end is further down, ending at the field where the final boss fight was.
