tbh I always expected a massive firefight on motherbase between heaps of xof dudes and diamond dogs, and you gotta fight off heaps of goons while your soldiers die (staff died -30 heroism etc) and then you confront skull face, but it never reached that climax

I mean, they [i]have[/i] the sounds, it shouldn't of been difficult to have sort of a random variable selection for various pain, grunt and other sounds. They already do that with the DD petting lines, commands to buddies and such.

I feel that all this talk about the game being purposefully unfinished to give us a feeling of phantom pain is just people in denial trying to justify all their pre-game hype. I spent $100 on the collector's edition and only bought a PS4 to play this game(before PC was confirmed) and I don't regret the purchases one bit despite how obvious it is that the game was rushed, is missing a lot of content, and is filler in the same way ME2 is(which I also loved so much that I bought it after pirating despite it requiring that I now put in a DVD each time I want to play).

Clearly Kojima wanted us to feel phantom pain when we never fought Hot Coldman too right?

Wait OK, so MGS4 Spoilers [SP]so who's body was on life support near the end of MGS4? It's been a couple years since I last played it, but I thought the original idea was that it was BB's body and brain, then the twist was that it was actually Solidus's remains? If Old Snake is Solidus, and you meet BB in the graveyard after the credits (beautiful scene, since I at least understand BB's timeline mostly), who's body is that? And more complicatedly, since I have to reevaluate the entire series now as I'd previously just believed that Solid Snake, being the superior of all the clones, was just the mostly-moral-good, what the hell is Solidus' beef with BB? I thought the feud was with SS and BB since SS technically ended BB's empire while he was working with the US...where was Solidus in that? And why does Liquid Snake (Plisken) want Solidus dead in MGS2? I thought Solidus, from my impressions after MGS2, was just the weird fat 3rd clone that was "evil". And serious final question: am I supposed to be able to play the games without realizing that SS is only in MGS1 and the beginning of 2? Why was it so intentionally ambiguous whether Plisken was SS or not? Didn't Plisken even work with Otacon like SS never died? Metal Gear has fantastic boss fights and Skull Face has a cool as shit gun. There's no feeling of phantom pain from not fighting him or when he's gone, it's just underwhelming.

I think some posters in this thread have completely, seamlessly merged the lines of sarcastic and serious posting and rating enough to make this conversation INSANELY confusing for anyone without exact understanding of the MGS universe? Or is the Old Snake = Solidus thing a memejoke amongst the MGS community?
