Killed a lot of dudes and [sp]built a nuke.[/sp]
so that might of explains why I can't [sp]shower my blood away.[/sp]
[sp]Yeah, a nuke is extreme amounts of demon points. The only way to eventually work it away is to avoid killing people, dismantle nukes, fulton a lot. It decreases the demon points, and, contrary to what some may say, Heroism has nothing to do with Demon.[/sp]
the thing that bothers me the most about Metal Gears is the fact that they're supposed to be the ultimate stealthy first-strike nuclear weapons platforms
but the ballistic missile submarine is already that
I prefer mech over mecha, but Sahelanthropus is still clunky and stompy enough to excite me
The best thing about Sahelanthropus is [sp]that it doesn't work.[/sp] Probably the best detail to make it a canon design.
how is ray the worst when its literally made to counter rex
and yet it still failed at that

The nuke fired by a metal gear can't be detected by radar. It isn't a stealth weapon because you don't know where the launch point is, it's a stealth weapon because you won't know it's been used until the nuke hits, allowing you to ensure you hit the target and possibly preventing a retaliatory strike. A missile launched by a submarine can be detected by radar and either shot down or retaliated against before it hits.
Sahelanthropus is just a ripoff of Metal Gear KODOQUE anyway.

What about GANDER?

The idea is that a Metal Gear can be deployed onto nigh any terrain for any sort of operation as a bipedal death tank that mixes tank and infantry together efficiently. Hell, the Shagohod alone is the predecessor in various ways and yet with only drill treads it's one of the most terrifying of all thanks to Volgin's tenacity. Combine this with nuclear design specification on Metal Gears like REX, which are intended to be undetectable and can hit anywhere in the world with the right calculations, and you could hide and deploy these things almost anywhere in theory compared to the limitations of submarines. With pre-warning of bombing attempts, they could defend themselves, and if opposing forces were to attempt to sabotage or take it out on-foot, a piloted Metal Gear could tear down opposition as both Snakes are forced to learn the hard way repeatedly.
and yet it still failed at that
no liquid octopus failed at that just like he failed at all his other attempts to kill snake. probably because of self psychotherapy.
how is ray the worst when its literally made to counter rex
A fully operational RAY was destroyed by REX, a metal gear which was wrecked and had been sitting in a hole for 9 years. Also 25 RAYs were defeated by one rookie on foot.
Fuck you, RAY is awesome. It only lost to REX because it was being piloted by Ocelot.
I still don't know how Solidus took one down with P90s. I guess he knew the weakpoint
[editline]27th September 2015[/editline]
It's still too bad that nothing ever came out REX schematics being made public. The GECKOs seemed more like RAY than REX

It's weird because one moment he [sp]shoots Olga in the head and although it's bloody, and the hole is large, it doesn't blow her head off or anything.[/sp] They must be specialized anti-armor rounds of some sort or another. Or Solidus just has plot powers.

Rex only won that battle because Otacon fucked with the fight. I'm sure that, on an even footing, Ray would have won easily.

Inside of an infinite space in arsenal gear.
Ray is definitely the worst Metal Gear, with ST84 being a close second.
If Otacon hadn't designed REX with that weakpoint purposefully, IT would probably be the ultimate Metal Gear. Its rail gun capable of launching undetectable nuclear warheads makes it far more useful than any of the others.

REX, and probably ZEKE and Sahelanthropus, were the stealth weapons because their railgun projectiles can't be tracked the way missiles can. The Shagohod and Peace Walker still launched rocket-propelled ICBMs, they simply had the advantage of being more mobile than nuclear silos
Do all RAYs have giant swords or just the ones from MGR? I don't remember what RAY did with its cute flippers in MGS2
Do all RAYs have giant swords or just the ones from MGR? I don't remember what RAY did with its cute flippers in MGS2
the one from MGR was desperado custom

No shit, Ray was specifically designed to destroy REX.
However, all Otacon did was update REX's software/offload processing to another computer. With that simple modernization upgrade, REX fucking obliterated RAY.
Ray was the only bipedal metal gear not designed by an emmerich
Ray > Rex
TX55????
D??????
After dumping so many hours into the game and getting my teams to lvl 60, I still think it's dumb that gameplay wise they removed [sp]quiet[/sp]. I really don't want to start a new game all over again just to get them back to use in the game. I'm holding out that a future patch/DLC update may make them available in the game again, but I know that probably won't happen.
TX55????

I think its safe to say after mgsv those are retcon'd. At least their designs.

Were ZEKE and ST84's rail guns ever said to be able to launch nuclear weapons? ST84 just used it to do some dumb electricity attack (with its hull being the nuclear weapon instead), and ZEKE had its railgun long before the MSF had ever planned to get a nuke (and was also designed by someone extremely against nuclear weapons).
I think REX's railgun is the only one capable of launching nuclear warheads.

TX-55.
MG-D.
Gekko (if you count them)
I think its safe to say after mgsv those are retcon'd. At least their designs.
except literally nothing in MGSV retcons anything about them
Remember, ST84 and ZEKE were one-off super weapons. TX-55, D, REX, and RAY were all designed with mass production in mind.
I think its safe to say after mgsv those are retcon'd. At least their designs.
Why.
Big Boss probably, after fighting half a dozen of the mother fuckers, "Lets make it small" so if it was hijacked it wouldnt go Godzilla on the base.
[editline]27th September 2015[/editline]
They're still fucking huge anyway.
Unless Huey went on to make even more weapons of mass destruction after how well it went all those other times 1984 is the cutoff for Huey-tech, the fucker was probably such a super-genius that Metal Gears made without him suddenly started looking like crap

And also mass producing something like fucking ST84 wouldn't be very economically practical even for a super power like the United States, let alone a fledgling mercenary nation.
Retcon since the technology has been retcon'd to be better. Even the shagohod was more advanced.
