D-walker's great for sand dune drifting
Pro-tip with D Walker in drive mode: don't hold up/W. You're not supposed to. Only use left and right/A and D. If you hold up, he starts doing this weird uncontrollable drift thing.
When you keep that in mind, all it takes is a little practice to be able to control him really well.

I never understood how you could jump off a hill with D-Horse and die while d-horse didn't give two diddly fucks.
Maybe Snake died cuz his balls exploded on impact idk
Also D Walker has a tendency to lean left or right when damaged, so compensate for that if necessary.
Funny how Big Boss changed from Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid (and he was much cooler in MG)
Might contain spoilers

He changed from MGS to MGS3, not from MG to MGS.
D-Walker's controls are easy in drive mode, you just have to remember you steer it like a car, not run like a player.
Honestly, (major spoilers) [sp]I can get behind the idea that we're technically Big Boss / Venom Snake as part of the legend, but it feels unsatisfying because there's only a few standout moments where we / Venom actually seem to have our actions play out with results that should. Mainly Skullface, Huey and Paz. Meanwhile the real Big Boss, who lost his Mother Base, the MSF and nearly lost all of his greatest allies at the time, decides to leave it all behind once he learns of Zero's and Ocelot's plan so he could go make Outer Heaven - when he has more than enough reason to seek vengeance for the men he lost. Remember how lost he looked, how angry he was from Ground Zeroes? You'd think he'd personally want to resolve such problems, but no, he leaves it to the body double since Skull Face was specifically targeting them, doesn't even contact anyone so the ruse is kept until the tape to us.[/sp]
Episode 46:
[sp]My head, all is a ruse. You play as Big Boss and not at the same time, I should have known when I heard the tape about Eli's DNA not matching yours. Now after this is it just replay mission/freeroam or is there something else as well?[/sp]

(Major spoilers)I disagree. [sp]Big Boss isn't vengeful by nature - just an idealist. Not even Venom was vengeful - It was all Kaz who was seeking revenge. Venom even says to him right after he rescues Kaz "One thing, Kaz. This isn't about the past; we're fighting for the future."[/sp]

I can deal with that, I think what bothers me is just the lack of dialogue. There's being silent to set a scene, or silence being a reply in itself, and then there's just having no dialogue written. Kojima watched too many movies with near silent protagonists and missed the subtleties of it, going for literal silence all the time.

You've basically completed the story. There's [sp]the Truth tapes[/sp] but otherwise Chapter 2 ends with no fuss and no real oomph besides [sp]the whole twist reveal.[/sp]
But on the bright side, [sp]you can now play as your Avatar who has full access to Big Boss' bionic arms and costume sets unlike the DD Soldiers, and replaying older missions with the avatar has him replace Venom Snake in the cutscenes too.[/sp]

It was Venom who established Outer Heaven in southern Africa - Mother Base in Seychelles was just the first iteration of Outer Heaven. Meanwhile, Big Boss was off quietly establishing Zanzibar Land under the radar, probably under a different identity.[/sp]
[sp]I guess that's one way to look at it, Kaz was pretty much the driving force while Venom seemed almost apathetic towards the whole situation besides his personal ties to people like Paz. But the game timeline and post-credits outright states Big Boss was the one establishing Outer Heaven in the background, while we had Diamond Dogs keeping the world's attention off of him, before we took over running Outer Heaven for Operation Intrude N313 while he presumably went to the backup plan of Zanzibarland.[/sp]
D-Walker makes me want to puke.
D-Walker is full of rats. They never wash it.

Ah, then I guess I was mistaken about that bit. I'll edit my post, thanks.

Then what about [sp]the virus Eli has and the Sahelanthropus he stole? The kid soldiers? Psycho Mantis will stay with Eli up to MGS1? This does not feel like closure at all![/sp]

Go look up Episode 51 on Youtube.
It was part of the collector's edition stuff because it was meant to give closure on that subplot but it just wasn't able to be finished in time before the game's release.
I think given that [sp]Skull Face was essentially planning to kill off more than half the human race because of some bullshit about language[/sp] Snake felt he had to be stopped, and THAT is why he went after him. He wasn't motivated by vengeance, for his part.

You can only watch it?
You can only watch it?
Completely cut from the game because Konami.
Speaking of, confirmed no story dlc for MGSV by Konami- the final nail in the coffin for some closure.

[sp]No. Quit saying this. Ocelot straight up says Big Boss is founding a military nation named Outer Heaven. Zanzibar Land comes years after the fall of Outer Heaven. Venom Snake just dies in place of Big Boss there, most likely to protect him. He did not create the Outer Heaven nation. Remember, the Outer Heaven Uprising happens 11 years after the events of TPP.[/sp]
You can only watch it?
Essentially. The storyline for it was pretty much complete, most of the episode is technically watchable alongside concept art and story plans they narrate about it, but the cutscenes were only 30% complete and likely were going to go through revisals if they were able to finish it.
Whether this was due to Kojima fucking around too much with FOX Engine or some other shit, or due to Konami stomping their foot down and forcing a release date before the game was ready (although to them Kojima was wasting a lot of time and money with his perfectionism supposedly), it's already pretty infamous now that MGSV is technically incomplete as a release. Plus a Chapter 3 was planned and numerous trailer scenes just were outright missing from the game if they weren't explicitly for the trailers only in the first place.

Goddamn was this game horribly mismanaged. The first DLC and it's a bunch of costumes (nostalgia costumes sure but still costumes) and literal horse armor. No major story DLC or anything planned thus far, not even completing Episode 51, and now they're retroactively claiming that Camp Omega was intended for MGO the entire time despite Hideo Kojima's claims on his own Twitter that were quite to the contrary.

Even with constantly supplied rockets and upgraded battle dress I still find myself getting killed left and right.
Just when I thought I had their number, a skull's shield showed up right in front of me as I shot a rocket and killed myself :blaze:
Just go roll with D-Walker and the improved minigun, then stand close from them. Their AI is shitty, so they will stand still making the mist trying to rust your vehicle. Just keep one-two steps back from it and shoot them at their faces. Around 150-200 bullets needs each one. S rank guaranteed (same goes with the one at the airport).

After several retries because the sniper at the second gate kept discovering me through several walls, I took the easiest path: just went into one of their tanks. If you do well, no one will discover you.
don't be so quick to dismiss it, i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that kojima considers it v for venom and not 5, which it why it uses a roman numeral instead of the usual numeric title
That also explains the code "V has come to" although if you listen to the [sp] zero ocelot tapes [/sp] towards the end it explains that.
Everyone is blaming Konami and yes they are making horrible decisions but can we stop pretending and admit Konami simply doesn't have endless resources and Kojima most likely got carried away with his ideas?
if your questioning Big Boss's motives, MGS3 pretty much gives you a dead spot on account for what his motives and aims are. #bigbossdindunuffinwrong
That's a really good way to sum it up, and I admit I've never thought of it like that. Even in MG1 and MG2, Big Boss's actions, when told from a different perspective, appear heroic, not villainous.
The only time he comes remotely close to explaining his actions in MG1 is this though, and it doesn't appear heroic at all.
Solid Snake! I've been expecting you... I am the supreme commander of the FOXHOUND unit... And... The leader of the fortress of Outer Heaven, Big Boss! I gave this mission to you, a rookie, thinking I could use you to fool the rest of the world... But you were too good. You went too far! Solid Snake! I'm not going down alone. I'm taking you with me! Prepare to die!
Then in MG2 he talks about creating an endless cycle of war, which he justifies by "saving" victims he created himself, just to train them to kill for the sake of creating more victims. He does this because he only cares about the thrill of battle and he thinks everyone else should think the same. He's a classic villain with a warped sense of justice, saving your own victims in order to make more victims is not heroic.
The Big Boss we last see in MGSV doesn't really match the man who only cares about eternal bloodlust. There was room for more character development but we never got it.

MGS V ate up 80 million dollars. I can understand Konami pulling the plug.
It still hurts.
