Man you can really cheese your way through FOB with a sniper rifle
You're so heroic that all of the good soldiers are already on your base.
[sp]Seriously though I have no idea I'm getting the same sort of thing happening[/sp]
Something tells me the game tries to make S+ to show up but same time those S+ have been made not to be able to show up so it breaks itself and dumps random units below S+.
So looking into Moby Dick, turns out at least in the original British version, is the unauthorized Censorship by the British publisher and the omission of the epilogue and Ishmael's "miraculous survival" was left out of that version.
Sounds oddly familiar.
If you're playing on PC, the game also saves a copy of your MGSV save files to the Ground Zeroes folder every time you play the game.
i bought MGS3 for the 3DS (2ds really) and I'm really enjoying the game, but the controls are absolutely shit.
Like fuck The Fear. Do you know how hard it is to aim with fucking 2ds buttons jesus
Yeah, it really requires Circle Pad Pro or New 3DS for proper controls. CPP controls are actually really great, too, because they use the modern "shooter style" control scheme that MGS has used since 4.

I'm playing it on the PS3 and it still feels like the controls weren't designed with humans in mind, which is a shame because it's otherwise pretty cool. I wish they added a more modern control scheme to the HD versions.
No, no, no.... Stop. I mostly forgot about Silent Hills and I keep learning more amazing stuff about it.
I really wonder how would TPP look like with another year or 2 of development, unlimited resources and probably better planned out development cycle.
Well for one thing we would not have so many plot holes because of cut content

The controls for MGS2 and MGS3 are godlike though. More games should have had the pressure sensitive controls; they're really intuitive once you learn them.
Man, I tried that setup with the battle dress and launcher-rifle but it's just honestly having me do worse, if that's even possible. Five losses in a row.
Iono, I just feel like I'm not cut out for FOBs at this rate. Switching back to my old loadout at any rate.

I kinda wish MGS3 HD had an updated-graphics version of Snake Eater 3D as an option because if you play with the circle pad pro the controls are great.(I don't remember if Snake Eater 3D came before or after Snake Eater HD if it came after I'm dumb)
Plus(at least on ps3 and vita) you could've used images you saved for camos like in Snake Eater 3D

Christ, every single thing about Backup Back Down is designed to be tedious for the sake of being tedious. More than half the objectives come down to luck.
I've spent several tries dedicated to extracting 6 prisoners, but because I'm not following a specific, optimal route, the one fucker being transported always JUST manages to slip away. Doesn't help that one of them is the only one in the entire game with the skill required for the med arm.
Oh, and they just had to make an extreme version of it too. Why the fuck not.
man, i'm so angry about backup back down that i'm going to complain about it on the internet
"yeah extract all those prisoners all over the fucking map without dying once or else you do it all over again thanks snake"
and this is just the NORMAL version of the damn thing, i don't even want to think about the EXTREME version

The pressure sensitive CQC works fine after a bit of practice, but release-to-fire and the massive analog stick deadzone make shooting very difficult.

It helps that the 3DS version added both crouchwalking and the shoulder-aim from MGS4/Peace Walker. Infact, with how the assets are, I wouldn't be surprised if Snake Eater 3DS is literally a port of MGS3 onto the Peace Walker engine in various ways that then got reworked to include MGS3 functionality.

If you are getting stressed simply plan out several runs of the mission. I think what's great is first focus on the vehicles. Most of them will come to you, I think there is one tricky armored vehicle that starts pretty close to the end of the mission area. During this plant your box or the more sure option EMP mine in their way to fulton the vehicles (1 from the first part of the mission and then the 3 tanks that come after you manage to disable all of the armored vehicles). Of course bring your horse. Next run destroy one vehicle and go prisoner hunting.

Every single vehicle goes through the supply outpost, you can just wait there.
Fuck, I wish I could've recorded this, but some guy had a rocket launcher aimed at Pequod, and I hurried up and grabbed him before he could fire off a shot, then Pequod turns around and sprays the guy I'm holding with gunfire.
Jesus christ, Pequod! You nearly tore me in half!

I'll give you a tip; don't try to do all tasks in one run. You can't. If you want all 6 prisoners you'll have to inevitably let a few vehicles slip. One guy you'll want to get ASAP though is the one escaped prisoner that the guards are searching for up in the mountains, because they will actually kill him if they find him.
I had to do 3 separate runs (6 in total with EXTREME) to get all the tasks.

I love the idea of Backup, Backdown: the stealth being on a huge field being give a huge area and multiple objectives to complete in a set time. Completely open ended, however you like, ambushing, sniping whatever. Sure it wasn't executed great, but MGSV had the perfect opportunity for shit like that and I'd say there's a few good stuff like it throughout the game, Backup, Backdown being an example.
In a way, completing the tasks is some of that extra variety the game really needs, but some of it like listening into conversations or going completely out of your way to find a specific individual when the mission (or even the condition of said person) may be time-sensitive in some manner or another, are just not fun. Not to mention that unlike Ground Zeroes, there aren't even any 'for funsies' missions that really change things up for the sake of it.
Protip for those wanting to complete all the tasks on Mission 1: Phantom Limbs, or rather specifically sneaking past the Skulls: [sp]you can call Pequod to a different RV, including (if you destroyed the anti-air radar) right outside the village Miller's at, and the Skulls encounter won't activate anywhere else. You'll still get the bonus for not being detected by the Skulls.[/sp]

I'd agree if dualshocks had taller buttons
also you do require kinda arcane amounts of fingers for peeking around a corner in first person while aiming and trying to cancel out of that without shooting

not sure if posted here already

I don't even know how extracting 3 tanks is supposed to work since I only ever see lighter vehicles, except for that one vehicle that departs from Yaka Oboo whatever outpost that I never get to see because the game doesn't inform me about it leaving before it's too late. I don't even know what that one is, but as far as I know there's only at least one tank that ever enters the map.

y'know about that vehicle in Yaka Oboo or whatever that barracks is called right?
You can eliminate it before it starts moving.
These "your pf rank has been update" notifications were constantly popping up without me doing anything. Then I found the screen where I can get materials and personnel in exchange for PF points. Blew them all on fuel resources :v:
Guess now I can upgrade one more platform
i seriously want to meet the person who came up with the idea of UAVs for FOBs
fuck, i thought these assholes were bad enough in MGS2.
