I just think liquid is a whiny angry man who is trying to convince solid that he's in the right [sp]he's probably lying to himself, just like huey[/sp]
Well he did try to make himself seem like he was above [sp]Naomi's[/sp] attempts at 'petty revenge', only for Solid to point out two minutes later to his face that he's no different. By MGS1 Liquid's literally a spiteful ball of superhuman hatred, [sp]especially if Psycho Mantis stuck with him all those years, and due to MGSV's context it was all about his goddamn pride as a warrior feeling 'insulted' by the father who he claims stole his fate from him and left him as the recessive mess. I'm sure Ocelot also helped temper that anger.[/sp]
[sp]Considering Big Boss was busy building Outer Heaven in South Africa, even if it is a good amount of distance beneath where we play in the game area, I wouldn't be surprised if Eli met Big Boss before Venom Snake, or alternatively he was inducted into FOXHOUND some time after MGSV and the real Big Boss treated him like shit before disappearing post-Outer Heaven to make his Zanzibarland plans. It does disappoint me that we don't even see the start of this 'blood feud' though considering how central it was to Liquid's character in MGS1. He just comes off as a spiteful prick at his ego being wounded.[/sp] [editline]23rd September 2015[/editline] Weird, I guess i'm misremembering the context then despite only beating the game a short while ago.
[sp]I'd like to imagine that too, but meeting beforehand would be unlikely and risky because Eli could spill the beans to Venom that they've met before. The only things that really needed to happen with Eli were finding out why Big Boss told him he was the inferior one and berated him for it but instead we just got more questions.[/sp]
So I was grinding before for a S-rank female soldier with savage and I got one with the asthma voice. The reason this is weird to me is because as far as I know the voice actor doesn't change. One I skipped over had Athletic. How the fuck does someone with the athletic skill have that voice?
I just think liquid is a whiny angry man who is trying to convince solid that he's in the right [sp]he's probably lying to himself, just like huey[/sp]
I'd be pretty disappointed if the backstory on [sp]him and Big Boss/their vision[/sp] went out of the window for the sake of him just being whiny and angry, it's a cheap cop out. But that's sort of what's happened, actually.
On the whole Eli thing, [sp]I wonder if we would have trash talked him during Mission 51, knowing the truth that he is a clone would allow us to play at his psyche, causing emotional scarring that would last him years. He didn't join Foxhound until 2000, way past the time Boss and Liquid would have met, so that point would seem likely.[/sp]
fuck this stupid mission because the first time took me forever and when i found out you could just do this then all enjoyment i got out of it was immediately gone
But only people who are bad at video games actually kill their targets instead of extracting them :scream:

Of course, that would only have been playing on Eli's hatred still but it was kinda cruel. [/sp]
But only people who are bad at video games actually kill their targets instead of extracting them :scream:
That mission was so easy though, and you get 2 super duper guys: the arms dealer and the high ranking officer. One is a gunsmith or something and the other is an athlete that's like A++ in combat. What a waste of decent soldiers.
Not sure if it was posted in the last thread but Super_Bonnyhop did a vid about his though on MGSV and its endings [SPOILERS]

Sure, he's right, but that's not what you say to a child with severe ego problems.[/sp]
But only people who are bad at video games actually kill their targets instead of extracting them :scream:
it's not like i haven't done it non-lethal one hundred times and when you're trying to train your B rank waifus to a higher level, the quicker you can do a mission the better
I just realized (MGSV END SPOILS) [sp]we can't see the Man On Fire Body Retrieval mission as Our Avatar. What if, instead of that final scene being original!volgin and mgs3!snake, what was really happening was original!volgin and original!medic? The true nature of both is revealed, Volgin realizes the other person isn't actually Boss, and promptly dies. Makes more sense than what we saw, because the twist hadn't happened yet.[/sp]
Well, in the [sp]unfinished cutscenes for 51 near the very end, Venom does say some very harsh and unfriendly things like "Yeah, blame me, not yourself." I mean, the first ones he sees he decides they should be soldiers for him, so talking to Eli in such a harsh tone isn't out of character for him.[/sp]

Sure, whatever Venom probably shittalked Eli with would've been unpleasant, ontop of him accidentally shooting Eli and all, but whether he's a kid or not doesn't excuse the sheer assholery and the fact that at least twice he tried to murder Venom on his own base and was also planning an armed uprising through homemade bombs and equipment.[/sp]
I just encountered a really crazy glitch while playing [MGSV Spoils] [sp]"Pitch Dark" I had just made it out of the village and was racing towards the oil refinery in a jeep across that big field plateau to the south. Suddenly the cutscene where you shut down the oil transfer pump plays and you're standing in the control room. And the tank destruction objective is still not done yet. Weird.[/sp]

And why take his anger out on Venom? Such a little shit.[/sp]

General MGSV thoughts (again, major spoils) [sp]This game is such an oddity. I sort of like that about it, it's very cryptic and it does make me feel empty about a lot of things. But at the same time it's disappointing. The story is chock FULL of amazing quotable moments and ideas...The Man Who Sold The World, V, language as a weapon. Every time I think of the hospital opening where the phone rings and the woman says "V has come to." before it devolving into glitching and corrupting audio until you hear the iDroid voice say "V HAS COME TO." I get amazing chills. It's so cryptic and Kojima like, I love it. Mission 43 was amazing in so many ways, I almost wish the game ended with MB being destroyed and the Quarantine strut was the last strut, and then the events of 43 happen so you're forced to mercy kill the last of your men, who are completely nuts due to the effects of both the virus and cabin fever. I do like the idea of Big Boss being The Man Who Sold The World, and Venom being his Phantom of Vengeance. I just wish maybe only Zero knew about the duplication. I feel it would've been more powerful if maybe earlier on Big Boss came back to find the imposter and Ocelot betrays MB to join the True Big Boss but Kaz remains loyal to the Diamond Dogs or something. This game is giving me phantom pain. [/sp]
I think you are supposde to do it normaly in that order anyway but weird.
Actually, my first play through I did do it in the reverse order so...
can someone explain FOBs to me. Like, Ive just been putting shitty soldiers on my security team thinking if I get raided it won't matter. Is that the right thing to do? Like what is even the benefit of having, using and developing your FOB?

Such a little shit.[/sp]
[sp]It's explained that a child's rage is much more powerful than an adult's rage, so that's why Mantis went for him. Honestly, if I was told that I was just a clone for the purpose of carrying on the memes of my "father," I'd be pretty pissed too (especially if I was told I was inferior). Things probably spiraled off from there, causing him to feel everything is the fault of Boss.[/sp]
Maybe it's just me, but [sp]I never saw Liquid as this kind of guy. I like how with chest stabbing, the knife can pierce through riot suits. Diamond Dog knives are the original high frequency blades.
