are you kidding it's the most fun shit ever lol
Backup, Back Down is a horrendous mission. [sp]15 minutes of running around after vehicles and prisoners or sitting at the edge of the area where all the targets go eventually. It's not worth doing all the mission tasks in one go because it's so finicky, and after you've done the timed part there's an additional 3 tanks + gunship (oh boy!) to deal with. The whole thing can last up to half an hour only for you to get spotted and killed within seconds, and there are no checkpoints. Then there's the extreme variant...[/sp]
Backup, Back Down was actually my favorite mission in the game. Riding around on D-Horse with a rocket launcher while "Rebel Yell" plays, it just felt really cool. Actually, I would have really liked to have seen Snake have more interaction with the Mujahideen, maybe have battles with AI guerrilla teammates.
Just gave S-Ranking it a shot. Extracted all the armored vehicles and tanks with a couple of alerts, and shot up the chopper with the Serval. As I was shooting it, though, it ascended into the high heavens and vanished from existence without dying. Whoops. Tried using a checkpoint to see if it would place me right before the tanks, but it ended up restarting the mission. Ah well. What's the general criteria for S-Ranking it, anyways? Do you have to eliminate every single vehicle with no alerts? Eliminate most with one alert? How much leeway do they give you?
Backup, Back Down is a horrendous mission. It's a time sensitive mission on a large map, there's no way you could think that could go well. Taking it one at a time with stealth camo/box abuse seems like the way to go.

Free tanks and assault vehicles for me, and an easy S rank or A rank at the least.

I believe you need 130000 points to get an S-rank You mostly get points for finishing quickly.

I hope there is text chat for the console version of MGO3 like there was with MGO2.

It has that 15 minute time limit that seems impossible to bypass unless you can fast travel between the bases and take down the vehicles at their spawn points without anyone noticing you. Seems like you have to go down the eliminating vehicles route, I'm just wondering how much you do.

There should be a checkpoint after the timer is up, because going after those final vehicles only for a little mistake to send you back to the very beginning is just crap.

Also you don't have to fulton them to S rank it either, I blew them all up & got S rank

Another mission that's more challenging and intense than the Backup Backdown mission is Metallic Archaea. I find it's the best when you take Quiet on with you and her Sinful Butterfly, then go around subduing/killing as many zombie CFA soldiers as possible first. This clears the targets for Quiet, who can then go after the Skulls with that OP-ass S Butterfly (bringing the Fakel grenade launcher helps too). It's even cooler if you manage to counterattack a Skull who tries to machete you, I watch that sequence time and time again and just think "jesus fucking christ snake how are you this badass you're not even [sp]the real big boss[/sp]"

There's a specific amount of them. Once you destroy all of them, the timer ends and you get a bonus round with some tanks and a gunship. I need to figure out how to record better, 60 FPS isn't a good idea it seems for OBS since it's clear the video is stuttering a lot, and yet I can't pinpoint a good recording method besides setting it down to 30 FPS which I don't remember working too well either

[sp]4 enemies that can teleport around you in an open area, throw rocks and otherwise clobber you even when you're doing a counter-attack.[/sp] On extreme it's just annoying.
On normal it is 3 hits with Anti Material and dead.
It's kinda lame how those rifles are massively efficient and other weapons are just pea-shooters. Even the RPGs struggle to leave a mark in comparison.
shame how we have to wait until january for mgo on pc but i guess thats the price for getting mgs 2 weeks earlier than intended
[vid]http://webm.host/c7db1/vid.webm[/vid] What
That's the [sp]Devil's House[/sp] mission, isn't it? You probably triggered a scripted point for the next part of the mission, and the game subtly gets rid of guards in the area you just passed through. Except in this case obviously.
So, having no prior knowledge of this series but wanting to get into it, what's the best way to go about it? Which of the games should I actually play and which should I skip? What order should I play them in?

I'm guessing that I entered the mist area and it cleared any existing guards and spawned in the affected guards.
Get the HD collection or Legacy collection on ps3.

I've noticed side-ops do weird things before with guards and such, but Wandering Puppets is probably the most explicitly quirky since i'll finish the last one off, and then suddenly I hear a guard responding to my gunfire because they poofed into existence again somewhere nearby due to the side-op being completed.
