i haven't faffed around with customs too much because the UI for Smash is fucking awful when it comes to using customs
like for fuck's sake samurai let us choose customs as we pick our fighter noone wants to watch a guy set up a billion sets or have to delete one because someone wants one that's not available god damn
Hello everybody i'm new to facepunch, since this is a smash bros. thread I need to ask, what kind of custom character to you guys use to beat the master fortress because I still can't beat it, right now I use an all defense ganondorf, but he's too heavy to go through the whole thing.
I personally spent longer figuring out the bosses and trying to beat them than to use any custom equipment. For example, the most helpful and important to kill enemy in the fortress is definitely the plant-turret-lookin thing. They're very large and can easily kill other stuff around them, and just getting rid of them is important too.
However, in terms of equipment I've heard good things about health-regenerating stuff, since you can safely sit in the fortress and wait for your health to regenerate if necessary.
You know what the biggest bummer of a feeling when making a custom stage is?
" ... What? I can't do that? Well... I'm not sure WHY I can't do that, but... Damn... "
Now, I get lynched for not liking the narrator but surely everybody can agree that the new crowd chanting is kind of awful. It's really muffled and hard to make out what they're saying and only a few characters have their names clearly stated, and I'm not sure why when we had perfectly clear crowds before.
On a lighter note, I think I'm getting a lot better at making stages. Sure it's easy to make a layout, but making it look interesting is a challenge too.
What do you guys think? My aim was to create a handful of gimmick-free alternative stages to compensate for the lack of simple defaults on the WiiU version, but to design them in such a way that they wouldn't look as much like just textured blocks and blobs on a background. No hazards, no moving parts, no bullshit, and playstested for hours apiece.

Duality (attempt at asymmetry, wanted a similar aesthetic to Smash4's FD)

Vista (more asymmetrical layout practice; AI hates this stage, but it plays well with humans)

Meteo (inspired by SSBM Yoshi's Story; has a fast pace, and the AI is amazingly competent on it)

Inferno (this was an absolute nightmare to decorate, but I think it was worth it)

That actually is kinda relaxing
At least to me
Oh my god. I just found a soundtrack rip of the WHOLE soundtrack with every song that has ever been released for Smash. In perfect quality and sorted by game. I hope it's not too wrong to post about that post. Maybe some haven't seen it before.

Now we need all the video files you can find in the vault at the highest quality for download!
Right? It's not only me who wants them?

I did this in Brawl all the time, making simple, yet different, non-gimmicky stages.
It's hell to do on 4 since you can't just place blocks anymore. Drawing or tapping to create points was a good idea in hindsight, but when you're a perfectionist like I am, creating the line 1 point off meant starting the shape over again.
Plus its hard to count squares/determine the center on this new ui.
I tend to make really gimmicky stages on the other hand, usually they're cages or they have something really cool about them. I'd take screenshots but I don't have an sd card for my wii u.

Pause while playing the stage, go to cubeupload.com, hit Select Image and choose the top one, then upload. Put the resulting URL in thumb tags here.
Smash can be such organic fun; just played it for the first time in a while with a friend; I was DK with one stock, playing against a zero suit samus with three stocks.
I WON, IT WAS GREAT.
Okay I made some progress, added attacks and cstick support, specials are next and then player interaction code.

I've always wanted something like this that could run on a raspberry Pi
so my tournament is on saturday, it's on wii u, and when I played the winners of the last tournament the matches were close, but the GameCube controller was actually throwing me off slightly because Im so used to the 3DS, and that's all I've got to practice with.
So I'll probably be bringing my 3DS to use as a controller. Has anyone got experience doing this? is there noticeable input lag while using the 3DS?

According to my buddy, 3DS works fine
Alright good.
I didnt want to be put at a disadvantage one way or another

Can I compile UE4 to the raspi? if so yes.
Otherwise I think I can do it with html5

Th only real disadvantage I'd say would be the lack of a C-Stick, but if you don't rely on it it won't hurt you any. Only issue I've come across is hand cramps :v:

Trying out Zelda. Now I know why the Zeldas on FG are so damn annoying.
how does dolphin run on a 2011 laptop? want to try project m

My custom-built from last year runs it fine-ish, but mind you it's of similar spec to a gaming desktop of around that time.
Running at original resolution with all optional effects disabled should be painless though.

I need Smash 4 modding to become a thing.
Maybe once stage/replay sharing opens up, but for now there don't seem to be any notable holes to exploit without a hardmodded console and a RAM probe.

It's a (semi) shame that the Wii U isn't as mod friendly as the Wii. That turned a pretty alright console into a fucking amazing one with just how much you could do with homebrew.
