Does speed decrease landing lag? WHat about attack lag? Does defense fend off damage or just the way a person is launched? Does attack increase damage and launching power?
IIRC Attack increases damage (and as a result the knockback) and the priority of your attacks, Defense improves your shield duration, makes you weigh more (harder to launch) and improves the armor of your attacks which have armor, and Speed improves your walk/run speed, jump height and air control. Negative Speed increases landing lag, but I don't think positive Speed decreases it, only Smooth Lander. If I got any of this wrong please correct me.
I think Mewtwo will be similar to Smash4 Ness. And if he is then that means he will definitely be viable in competitive.
To those who say 6 months is too long for one character, please remember that it is hard as SHIT to balance a new character when your roster is as big as Smash's. The past four months might have been balance testing alone.
Considering that none of the Smash games besides 64 have actually been balanced and Smash 4's balance patches haven't even dealt with the biggest issues outside of game-breaking bugs, I doubt that is the case. The only realistic answer is that either they didn't even start Mewtwo when Smash 4 was released and are doing every animation from scratch or they are planning something else at the same time.
That's a bit of a fallacy in assumed repetition, believing just because something has been means it always will be. People assumed the game would never be patched in the first place, going by this same fallacy. It doesn't take six months to make a character, not with a team that size. It takes two months to make, one testing session to learn it's broken, a week to fix it, another testing session to notice something else broken about it, and so on until you've spent almost half a year and several days worth of playtesting hours getting it just right. This is how the development of many fighting games tends to go, particularly the more complex ones. [editline]21st March 2015[/editline] I'd bet money that the characters that are outright awful or unbalanced had changes, additions or subtractions made to them too late in development to get as much testing time, and as a result were not analyzed as completely as they needed to be. These characters are likely still being tested, with the previous balance patch addressing key issues they found in the FIRST post-release analysis, with the second or possibly the third underway right now with Mewtwo in the mix. With just how many characters there are and how many possible combinations of them there are (not just 1v1, they have to test 3+ player too, all the way up to 8P now), it might be a while before we get the second major gameplay alteration.
Custom Tourney going on, watch as a Luigi makes a diddy-cicle.
That ledge-camping Villager was just too painful to watch...
Yeah, heard it was getting banned (the balloons) so glad when it comes into effect.
Well, they are also gonna release the Miiverse stage at one point, as well as the ability to make tournaments and upload custom stages.
I can't wait until custom stage sharing comes out. Then I'll be able to download remakes of past stages made by people who are actually good at making stages! (Plus I won't hurt my neck from staring at the GamePad for half an hour.)
It was both funny and stupid to see that villager go diddy the moment he loses
i am the prince of all sayians
Man, people aren't kidding when they talk about Sheik's killing power deficiency.
sheik is ridiculous
RIP Nairo ;_;7 I'll kill a Sonic for you.
Sheik in a nutshell: "I see you're doing a thing. Stop."
Man, people aren't kidding when they talk about Sheik's killing power deficiency.
does that really matter when
Sheik in a nutshell: "I see you're doing a thing. Stop."
With the release of mewtwo soon I hope nintendo considers a lot of other characters. I'd really like to see some third-party/indie characters. Shovel Knight, Quote, and hell, maybe even a splatoon character would be amazing.
Oh boy. Whoooooo likes Diddy mirrors?
Remember that super smash land clone I was working on? want to take it for a spin? https://mega.co.nz/#!6oZVRK4b!TuMvcTK2DH3qKvtb7bEaIrqX_-4zpZOf1RXAw_Jg1TY Only bad thing is that you need two controllers if you want to try local multiplayer, luckly if you want to control the second character you just need to open the console and type ssswapcontrollers. Only the uptilt has sakurai-like knockback, so the rest of attacks send the character too far away, I also added less friction to how the character moves, the characters can die and respawn and I changed the level geometry a bit, I also changed a shit ton of internal stuff but since you can't see it it's pretty useless for me to go into detail, as always the source code is here: https://github.com/EIREXE/openmelee2d
so was the Mewtwo confirmation thing legit?
so was the Mewtwo confirmation thing legit?
If you're talking about this video, it's not a fake translation.
If you're talking about this video, it's not a fake translation.
ah cool thanks there was some doubt in the air when it was first uploaded so i thought i would give it a day
So, I saw this question pop up elsewhere, but... How eager would you guys be to participate in a smaller Smash4 tourney with only twelve legal characters (the SSB64 cast)?
So, I saw this question pop up elsewhere, but... I wouldn't participate if there were an entry fee, though.
Yeah it'd be a side bracket probably. I just think it's a novel idea, call it the Throwback Series. Hell, I'd enter if it was just for fun. [editline]22nd March 2015[/editline] Also does anyone else here who builds and rigorously tests a lot of stages feel like their Mario gameplay has improved as a result? I sometimes do.
Mario's best tool is his Cape (Side-B). Used right and it can ruin someone's day. It's a shame the FLUDD is still not that great, would have been better if it last a bit longer.
