Voted for Wonder Red.
It was honestly a toss-up between him, Shovel Knight, Snake, and Banjo/Kazooie.
A Wonderful 101 rep seems the most likely out of that bunch and I feel like his moveset would translate really easily to Smash.

But Shovel Knight would be fucking amazing.
Unfortunately in Snake's case, it's no longer a matter of negotiating exclusively through Kojima, as Konami has terminated him and now owns Metal Gear as a franchise collectively.
I vote Wonder Red not because I like the character, but because I like the game he is from and if he was in Smash as a fighter then his series would get a lot more publicity.
Just like what they did with Shulk and Xenoblade.

I want to vote for the characters from Star Fox 2 as alternate costumes like the Koopalings, but I know it wouldn't happen because the game didn't get released.

My top picks are Quote, Shovel Knight, Wonderful Ones (I made a really extensive theoretical moveset/playstyle for them a while back), and Black Shadow.
what do you guys think about adding a non-Ridley Metroid representative?
at this point, i feel as if it's almost deserved--yes, the franchise had a game in the last five years, but Samus has been (characteristically) alone for all four Smash games.

Rundas's ice-based combat skills could sprout a unique moveset, and Weavel's ability to split in half, turning his lower body into a turret and his upper body into a mobile walker, could lend itself to an interesting gimmick a la Rosalina & Luma.
now if someone could come up with a reasonable moveset for Dark Samus that would offset her clone-y appearance and name enough to please people, i'm open to persuasion.
Weavel or Sylux would be great. Weavel could split in two and leave a turret to combo off of, Sylux would be lightning quick with a focus on chasing and mixups.

The thing is, characters appearing only in the spinoff of the gaiden series are just slighty less irrelevant than a random mook.
Dark Samus and the Prime 3 Hunters are much more relevant as characters. And of course Ridley, whose apparent size is mostly an artifact of his sprite design, and thus the apparently objective complain is not quite:

If the Hunters had more character to themselves, maybe, but as they are, they are very obscure Metroid characters, and Metroid has more worthy representatives. If they appeared in more games and had more characterization apart of being multiple FPS classes, of course they'd be neat.

I think Dark Samus's assist trophy is a pretty good frame of reference for potential movesets.
Don't know what their Final Smash would be, though, maybe [sp]transform into Metroid Prime? Dark Samus is basically a fusion between the Phazon Suit and Metroid Prime, anyway.[/sp]

It's implied Sylux has a greater relevance in Samus' story than just Hunters, as his ship - the Delano 7 - can be seen tailing Samus' in the true end of Prime 3.
Also, aren't those points you made near exactly the same as ones you made previously? I hate to be that guy who groans every time a subject is brought up, but it's become almost routine now.

I got matched up against a little mac as ganondorf, never really fought him before seriously so I practically gave the other guy the first match, but the second match I 2-stocked him because I noticed he'd go for the KO punch as soon as he got it. Warlock punch super armor huehuehue
Part of me would like to vote for Waluigi or Ridley just to show that there's a demand, but with them already in the game as side characters I'd feel like I'd be wasting my vote.

Don't get your hopes up. It sounds like the exact same recordings from Brawl.
Wonder what they'll do for his custom moves though, if they're going to parallel Ness's customs, with a few switched up for obvious reasons, they'll need to get a recording for PK Flash.
I voted for Takamaru, because Sakurai did say he was considered, so he has a better chance then most 'nearly made it's.
My 500 character blurb was lengthy, too. Talked about how he could be redesigned a la Pit in Brawl, how he has a bunch of neat mechanics (projectiles out the ass, a sword that deflects projectiles, eastern swordplay, stuff like disappearing temporarily to avoid lots of damage). I don't think assist trophies rule out characters being in, either. Lucas was a regular trophy in the 3DS version after all.
