If Sakurai wants Banjo in the game, he'll [I]attempt[/I] to go through the channels to make it happen regardless of whether the playerbase actually has a high vote turnout for Banjo. If his attempt fails then he moves onto the next idea, simple as that. Sakurai does as Sakurai wants.

(The Wario Land games have sold more than the WarioWare games though and, with other games like Wario's Woods make Wario have slightly more sales than Yoshi. Both are 20+ million sale series though and thus have as much of a right to be represented independently as many other game series in Smash)

Mario has the right number of characters now. Both it and Pokemon cannot be overrepresented, because they have more market share than half of the cast put together. Seriously, they are popular as fuck. They had already more characters than other franchises in 64. It works that way, deal with it.
