why do people seriously think indie third party characters stand a chance
like the third parties we do have are all super stars in their own right, come on. you guys ask WHY WALUIGI WHY CAPTAIN TOAD but they're infinitely more likely then characters who aren't nintendo aligned, aren't huge stars despite not being nintendo etc.
i really do not look forward to the next few months of chaacter roster wankery again
I'm aware that third-party characters don't have as much of a chance as the ones made by Nintendo themselves, but why can't a man hope?

Great work so far!
I really want to see a doodle of Klonoa in a cute little business suit, but I'm sure you already got ideas who the other fighters will be.
Looks like Third Party characters are fair game for the Smash Ballot.
Woah...woah. What the shit.
I recorded a replay of me fighting my Megaman amiibo along with a level 9 Fox, and when I went to watch it again the battle was completely different.
According to the replay, I used my leaf shield a ton(Which is way off, because I NEVER use leaf shield, unless its accidental), and halfway through the battle I started acting like a fucking idiot and jumping off the stage for no reason. It showed me using my attacks on nothing, as if I was fighting an invisible person. Eventually I run out of stocks and its my amiibo vs fox, and they fight for like, 6 more minutes. Fox eventually wins. My megaman amiibo had the default colors, while I had the yellow megaman palette.
In the ACTUAL battle, I was rarely off of the stage, and my megaman amiibo was destroyed quickly. I eventually took out Fox, but it was pretty tedious as it kept spamming grabs. I won the battle. I had the default colors, while my amiibo had the yellow palette...
I checked my other amiibo replays and none of them are like this. What the hell would even cause this to happen?

Desync from an update patch. Replays only retain the RNG settings for items and the exact times of individual button inputs.
I feel like we're going to end with the most boring picks that satisfy the least amount of people and have zero wild cards.
Do all DHD's roll like crazy or am I just having bad luck?
Playing DK64 again has reminded me of how wonderful it would be to play as Lanky Kong in Smash Bros. Him and Dixie please. K. Rool would be ok, but I'd prefer those two or maybe Cranky. As it is, DK as a series deserves more than 2 representatives.

Do you guys have any suggestions for the matchups Sheik vs Sonic and Sheik vs Pikachu? I fail to win these matchups even though they should be favorable for Sheik.

Well, Nintendo thinks I am, does that count?
The degeneration in Youtube comments for Sm4sh is real. People insist game should be fun to watch, while it should be fun to play first and foremost. Nobody likes a game that feels like a second job to play, that feels like it's played merely for the entertainment of people.
I was playing my brother in some rounds at Smash 4 last night and I lost every single one. Melee has ruined me.

Turbo mode is too fun.
I'd love to see Turbo Mode TAS more often. They'd look insane.

there are people who like smash bros for the playable characters instead of the metagame

people say that the smash 4 competitive gameplays are boring because for the most part they're slow paced, considering how defensive the nature of the game is. it might be fun to play, but watching it is oftentimes quite dull. on the flipside, with a game like PM, it's really fun to play, while also super fun to watch, because of how it promotes an offensive playstyle. it requires more effort to get into, yes, but that's because people enjoy the game and adding the tech skills required for higher levels of play adds a level of depth unseen in smash 4. i'm still quite ass at PM, but the games i've played, even where i've gotten completely destroyed were really fun, and i'm enjoying even just going into training mode and improving on my tech skill. saying it feels like it's "played merely for the entertainment of people" seems to just be brushing off the people who put a lot of effort into learning just because it's really fun to them.
altho, i do agree that people who are saying "smash 4 is SHIT" or those guys who chanted "melee" after the Smash 4 finals at Apex aren't doing any good for the community.
If Turbo had a few balancing changes (get rid of single move stunning (fuck you toon link)), I think I could end up dropping any other game forever.

It's not like Youtube comments outside of Smash videos have grown to be more intelligent.

Most games that aren't fun to watch are also not fun to play.
It kind of bothers me that a lot of characters people want to return seem to be only for the sake of returning.
If most of the cut characters hadn't already appeared in a past game, nobody would be clamoring for them to be introduced for the first time.

[sp]Roy, Pichu, Ice Climbers, even Snake [/sp]

While understandable, it'd be nice if the gameplay matched the parity of the rest of the quality put into the games. If Brawl or Smash 4's gameplay was not coupled with the high quality animations, music or usage of famous game characters, the games would have been dead in the water the moment they came out, whereas 64 and Melee would have probably been able to last both casually and competitively. I feel this is a pretty big problem with the series direction in general because I know a huge amount of people that are getting turned off by what the series gameplay has become as the gameplay of the first Smash Bros games, themselves, was one of the biggest draws for them.

Do people seriously want Pichu back?
I wonder how a redone pichu would work without the self-hurting gimmick.
He'd probably be a faster version of pikachu, but pikachu is already super fast so I wonder how they'd make it work if they re-included pichu.
I like the idea that Pichu evolved and the old Pikachu retired. Or maybe evolved into Raichu.
Raichu would be a cooler fighter than Pichu

Especially considering the costumes. In Melee, Pichu has the goggles costume:

And in Brawl, Pikachu has the goggles, instead (it's a blue party hat in Melee):

I like how they did that because it brings up the unlikely but cool speculation that Brawl's Pikachu is Melee's Pichu. The other bit of evidence is that starting in Brawl, Pikachu is able to use Volt Tackle, which can only be learned during the Pichu stages.

Funny thing about Pikachu's final smash, it's based on the move from Pulseman that has the same name. Not saying this refutes your theory, just a neat little tidbit.
If there's one thing I don't really like about SSB 4 at least as far as For Glory gameplay goes, it's that 9/10 characters have extremely strong recovery. The list of characters who can't easily recover from being launched off-screen without hitting the death zone is very small. Although this results in a strong emphasis on meteor smashing, I guess, but I wish recovery when unimpeded was less of a non-issue.
