the fact that they have to play two top tier characters is really disappointing
i thought they were the best smash players because they were good at the game and not because they play cheap characters to win
[editline]1st February 2015[/editline]
I thought they removed Star KOs on the last stock
That ending though.
Oh man...
that was soo unfortunate
Oh my god that ending.
That fucking ending.

No, star and screen KOs get removed in the last few seconds of a timed match.
That was so tragic.
Like, at least they're still going to Japan, but holy shit I wish they won. It physically hurts.

Well that's stupid.
Should really be who hits the blast line first that loses, not who gets KO'd after an animation.
mad respect for fow and mjg and obv props to m2k and zero
gorgeous set
So now is it just Smash 64, Smash4 is all wrapped up?
Nerf the Blasting Off Again animation plz.
why are you guys blaming the players for playing diddy instead of the game for having diddy be such a problem in the first place?

RNG is a cruel mistress indeed.

Smash 4 top 8 will soon be on VGBootCamp's stream.

When you have players that are the caliber of guys like ZeRo and M2K play such a powerful character like Diddy, you have a tough, sometimes unwinnable, fight on your hands.
The important thing to do is to out-think the other guy.
So now is it just Smash 64, Smash4 is all wrapped up?
there's still top 8 on vgbootcamp after melee
why are you guys blaming the players for playing diddy instead of the game for having diddy be such a problem in the first place?
Well are they playing Diddy because they like Diddy, or are they playing Diddy because he's top tier?
"M2K and ZeRo showing why they deserve to be the champions of Apex 2015."
They picked double Diddy. Yeah sure, they totally deserve it.
winning the biggest sm4sh doubles tournament to date where all the top players in the world come together isn't as simple as just picking diddy. from the perspective of a spectator i hate diddy too, but don't dismiss the skill of M2K and zero just because they're playing diddy. you can't deny that they're both very good at sm4sh even if you don't enjoy watching them.
Well are they playing Diddy because they like Diddy, or are they playing Diddy because he's top tier?
kinda hard to play a character if you don't like the way they play
why are you guys blaming the players for playing diddy instead of the game for having diddy be such a problem in the first place?
I'm not blaming, I'm hating.
kinda hard to play a character if you don't like the way they play
I guess I said it wrong, I meant "Did they like to play Diddy before they knew he was the OP Hoo Ha'ing monkey that gives free wins? Or did they start playing him because he's the OP Hoo Ha'ing monkey that gives free wins?"
why are you guys blaming the players for playing diddy instead of the game for having diddy be such a problem in the first place?
I totally agree, but character choice is the one thing that the players have control over.
The players can't control which characters are strongest and whatnot, but they can control which characters they choose to play.
They're allowed to pick Diddy, but man is it unhype. It automatically means you can't be the underdog. If you win, no one will be as excited or happy as they'd be if you won with a different character.
Case in point, notice how there was literally no one in here or the Twitch chat going "OH BOY, I REALLY HOPE M2K AND ZERO WIN THIS ONE!"
It was all about throwing your hands to the sky and giving FOW and MJG your spirit energy.

nothing's keeping the other team from doing double diddy as well
and yeah like you said it's unhype as fuck but is it really the players' fault that hoo haw wars are so boring yet effective?

yes because they could not pick hoo ha and play some character that they're good at
especially m2k and zero because they're good at many characters, like how zero is a great falcon for example
Don't ask why, but I've got a hunch we may see another balance patch by May.
I actually really hope Diddy Kong is banned from future tournaments.
And not just because he is a really good character. Because he is really boring to watch too.

i think we're going to get in a huge patch balance + tournament mode + mewtwo during spring
Non-Smash related, but Splatoon trailer on Sp00ky before Smash 64
[sp]Oh it's the E3 trailer[/sp]

why should they limit their chances for your amusement? they're competitors. this is their career.
if there's a character in the game who's very easy to play, very strong, and very boring to watch, that's the game's fault for having a poorly designed character and poor balance.

Which is, again, a compelling reason to ban said character. If the players can't be sportsmanlike on their own, it might well be forced upon them.
See: Meta Knight
diddy is easy to pick up and to master, not even close to be the best in the game. if you payed a little bit of attention to singles, you could have seen tons of diddys getting bodied by luigi, sheik and rosalina too.
comparing it to meta knight is idiotic
Just for reference ZeRo actually does really like Diddy as a character, in some of his videos he went out and bought a amiibo and sometimes talks about how the DKC's were some of his favorite games growing up. He's also planning on doing a video on said Diddy amiibo because he thinks it would be fun.
M2K has admitted openly that he just likes Diddy because he's overpowered though.
[editline]1st February 2015[/editline]
Only really really bad think about the diddler is the fact both M2K and a number of other players already said they think Sheik is 100% better but ignore her or others anyway.

we should probably wait until the meta is more developed until taking a drastic measure like that. people are gravitating towards diddy because he's really easy to understand and to play, and really strong. there's actually a good amount of character diversity in the top 8 of singles, so that's evidence enough that diddy isn't nearly as bad as MK was. and we're talking about doubles here, which is even less explored than singles. who knows what team synergies people could discover over time.
