i'm really hating these 'combos' that are consist of the same single input over and over again
up-tilting marios are my bane on FG. I know you can airdodge out of it at anypoint, but with online input lag its hard shit.

The best part of V-Day is the fanart.

funny thing is that i didn't even play awakening but i saw some screens of it, with lucina and chrom blushing during a kinda awkward dialogue and i said to myself: "oh that's one of those games..."
Speaking of which, does anybody have any tips on playing Lucina?
I've been trying to play her recently, and I'm doing alright with her, but I think theres still more I should know.

Nobody has tips when playing Lucina.

Since you have even damage throughout the blade, you're able to be more aggressive than Marth could be without as many risks. Also, down air I believe does have a tipper, so remember that if you want to Meteor Smash.

I keep seeing people say this, but it's not really true. While the damage and knockback stay the same throughout the blade, you still have to deal with the same lag Marth has on his attacks, which means you can't afford to be too aggressive with her moves or you'll get punished constantly.
She has much better grab setup opportunities thanks to the consistent damage, and has less to worry about in terms of variable knockback reducing the damage output of her combos.
You're sacrificing raw DPS potential to get that though, so whether or not it's worth it is up to you. I personally prefer Marth.

Think of it kinda like Captain Falcon versus Ganondorf. One is all about getting strings going and racking up damage for a finisher, and the other reaps huge rewards from being patient and getting those few good hits.
Except Lucina has like, next to no actual combos.
So if you're looking for performance over aesthetic preference, just pick Marth.
If I was looking for performance I wouldn't be playing Marth or Lucina in the first place :v:

Well you came into the thread asking for advice how to get better
Theres a difference between wanting to improve as a character, and just playing a character because they're better
The biggest difference between the two actually comes from fighting them; it's more difficult to be aggressive against Lucina because she doesn't have to constantly try and keep you at a set range. Marth only really has his grabs to punish excessive pressure, while Lucina can just cut you.
Meanwhile, other spacing characters have an advantage over Lucina, because unlike Marth, she can't punish spacing nearly as hard. Against them, she has no choice but to be aggressive.

If you have trouble counterplaying pressure, go with Lucina. If you want more even footing against tactical characters, pick Marth.
anyone here emulate Project M before and if so is it worth it? found a place nearby that does weekly P:M tourneys and want to get some practice in, but don't have a Wii anymore.
Marth needs to stop getting nerfed tho. Still kinda solid, and Melee Marth was ridiculous, but still...
And seriously, pairing the Avatar with Chrom just because and accidentally marrying him... The game wants you to pair him with Sumia, complete with complementary stats and an awesome Lucina and sister. Waste of a shepherd pie joke however (bento boxes at least made sense in the original)...

I kinda miss those trophy event matches. they were weird, but it was fun to fight on top of giant trophies.
Man, Charizard polices Battlefield pretty damn well. The hitbox size and vertical reach of his Utilt and Usmash cover more than 2/3 the standing space of a platform.
I'm getting a feeling that heavy characters aren't gonna go far in 1v1 comp, but they will be a necessity in 3v3 / 4v4.
And that is clever. Even in 2v2, that's a good thing, better than Fox/Falco squads.

i play PM on Dolphin with Flyingman pretty regularly using a USB-GC controller adapter. it's pretty good practice for tourneys, but i think if you're REALLY interested you should either get a second hand Wii/CRT and invite people over to practice, or practice with others (either at events or just at peoples houses). there's probably a facebook group for your area where you can ask people to play and they probably play a bunch of friendlies at those weekly tourneys.
