On a different note, I wonder if there will ever be a character who operates on different defensive mechanics than the rest. IE, they're very nimble and have the fastest roll in the game (which they can act out of quickly, almost like a wavedash), but they have no invincibility during it, and while they can perfect shield slightly more easily, that's all they have; they can't just hold a shield up like the rest of the cast. Also, rather than an airdodge, they can give themselves a little push of momentum in any direction a single time while in the air using the shield button paired with a direction, which they can act out of much faster than an airdodge, but again, no invincibility.
The standard defensive tools are transformed into versatile offensive ones, making approach and chase almost effortless, but making any situation in which you can't read your opponent much more dangerous.

Metal Little Mac.
Never again.

That sounds like something that would've been applied to equipment.
But the issue with equipment is that there's no equivalent exchanges going on, especially when you mix in the extra effects. So it's impossible to have a balanced equipment set unless you force every participant to use the same equipment, but that just stiffarms the entire purpose of equipment making customizable characters, instead you just get a subset of players using very specific rulesets to play under, and there'll be little overlap with other players if they were to constrain themselves in such a way.
The additions to the series this go round are less than phenomenal in their execution. New characters and rebalances are an expectation, as is the improved netcode. No one was expecting Smash Run and Smash Tour, but both of those are underwhelming. Single-player seems stripped down: classic mode is butchered, all-star and multi-man smash were left alone, no adventure mode or variant, break the targets got usurped by angry birds, master/crazy orders are fun. Most people don't care about single-player in smash bros anyway, but it'd be nice and all if it didn't lock custom equipment behind playing classic mode. Most notably the customized movesets, there's potential for great things with those. But they're arbitrarily locked behind single-player or grinding in smash run/tour. The interface for your loadout is clunky at best. Having it function more like TF2's loadout could've been easier to work with, including having custom moves "drop" after prolonged playtime so you don't feel like you're locked out of that content if you play PvP more often than single player. And then there's no support for custom movesets online anyway so it'll be difficult for them to even gather data on whether these moves are balanced or not since they'll have nothing to go off of.
Good idea, less-than-good execution.
Well, I was more interested in opinions on the idea itself, but very valid points.
For reference, it would be a single character who operates on those altered mechanics. A character who can move around quite easily and can fluidly link longer combos together thanks to the changes, but who is significantly more vulnerable to intelligent punishes, having only a split-second block (and maybe an armored grab or something) to defend themselves with.
My only gripe is the bad implementation of the various modes.
Like smash run was just pathetic for not including multiplayer and having unbalanced finals.
At least Smash Run can be fun. Smash Tour is about the least fun I've ever had with in a game made by Sakurai.
I think the main problem with smash tour is ironically it's greatest strength. It completely levels the playing field by eliminating almost any need for skill by having everything be pure randomness. I personally think the whole thing is kind of a sloppy mess that's nigh impossible to get achievements for, (Oh you have 9 fighters and need 10 for an unlock? EARTHQUAKE! You're down to 4 now!) but my little brothers seem to enjoy it because they can occasionally win against me playing it. In all honesty, I think that Sakurai WANTED Smash tour to turn out the way it did, because it turned into a evenly matched all around crazy game with tons of obscure Nintendo references. In short, it's the smash bros he always wanted.

It's mario party
You think it's about who wins the most, but in the end it's chance

I'd argue it's even worse than Mario Party in that regard. Everyone controls the same in Mario Party, and you never see someone start a minigame with a hammer and beat the shit out of everyone within 3 seconds.
Mario Party is designed around being random. It does not have a high skill ceiling in terms of what you, the player, can improve to. You're level no matter what. With Sakurai's design decisions which involve leveling the playing field, he needs to understand that Smash is always going to be a game where technical skill will be above all else, and trying to make it something else will not yield good results (look at Brawl).
The same tier list which had Dark Pit above Pit? Mmmmkay.
I still think the removal of momentum conservation upon jumping is what made SSE, and Smash Run by extention, somewhat unfun: In platformers, you get a running start and jump farther. In Melee that also applied. Then in Brawl, they made it so you lost speed upon jumping, and that is outright retarded.

Man, this guy always gets a laugh out of me.
Does anyone else encounter this weird thing in FG where you only get matched with Japanese/Asian players and they always DC in the lobby?

throw him.
Oh I hope Mewtwo keeps its throws from Melee, that back throw will be awesome to deal with Macs.

You know all those times you get "failed to connect to client" messages or whatnot? That's what's happening to them. The game adds you to the lobby before you're actually fully connected.

I figured it was because they didn't want to play with an American :v:
Still sucks, if we have to be forced to use peer-to-peer connection, why can't we search for people from our own region? Why is Mario Kart 8's online so much better than this?

Electroshock Arm KOs earlier at the edge of most stages, and the arrow does more damage when just spammed for spacing or to stall an approach (which is what most use it for)

The Ftilt being worse doesn't really have that much of a negative impact on his gameplay either, since Dtilt is usually more preferable to link into his Fair.
I hope they don't do the same thing to Mewtwo's voice like in the Genesect movie.
But that was a female Mewtwo completely separate from the original games and movie Mewtwo. I mean, I'm pretty sure they'll either reuse clips from Melee or go for the nostalgia rather than the fresher one.
Copy what Project M did.
Been having no good games as of late.
Each one has been a "For Roley" and "Grab into Grab into Grab into Grab into b-throw kill".
Like I know playing defensive is swell dandy fine peachy keen and all that, but running away from every approach while at the same time not approaching literally makes this the most boring game to play.
I just want jump momentum back
It's really obvious in Adventure mode type stuff like SSE, Smash Run, and Master Fortress and it pisses me off so much, constantly thinking you're going to make a jump without having to UpB to every single ledge

That happens to me in For Fun as well.
Other than with my friends I have never had fun online because lag makes the fight go on way longer.

Dunkey plays Smash.
kinda surprised he's friends with sky
Did anyone else initially assumed that Dunkey was black due to his voice?

They probably met through League Of Legends, considering both of their channel's content.

wow I thought I was the only one having this problem lately. I faced a sheik today who did nothing but spam needles and roll out until he saw an in and came in for a few quick combos then went back to keeping a distance with needles. first game I ever ran to time on. seriously just boring having to chase this asshole only to get fucked in sudden death because he's shiek.

The only players I've ever faced who consistently run the clock are cowardly Sheiks.
