It seems pretty convincing. Even the lack of shadow behind his portrait can be explained by the fact that characters get a shadow behind them when [I]selected[/I], and that the rayman in that pic is not selected (just being hovered over).
This, combined with the fact that Rayman's trophy had slight changes, makes me think he'll be his own character. I won't get my hopes up too much, but then again I've never had nostalgia for the guy.

K. Rool could easily get "too big" slapped on him by sakurai, only instead of ridley's tallness it's his wideness. I would love to be proven wrong, though.
The Mewtwo render looks like the same model as the one shown in the 50-fact stream, right down to the creases in the middle of it's face.

So seriously, why is it that most of the people i beat as Samus immediately switch to Megaman? was there some Reddit post saying he's her hard counter or something? because it never works, i always find Megaman a really easy matchup
I'm on the fence. The shop button looks legit either way though, that's the same UI style and it doesn't look misplaced.
Personally I'll wait until there's video or audio evidence (announcer saying the name, etc) before calling it.

I'm not sure Rayman in the "joins the battle" shot should be having the same pose as Rayman in the character selection menu.
Then again, they probably haven't made a trailer for him yet and it's probably just supposed to serve as some simple promo shot (If it's real, that is).
Either way, when Mewtwo comes out and we see his render, we'll know if it was faked or not.
And I honestly hope it's real. I love it when western characters get some smash representation and Rayman is a great character, regardless of what I think of Ubisoft.

I was pretty sure Mewtwo wouldn't come alone but I expected veterans to come back, like Wolf or Lucas. I only know Rayman because I played Rayman 2 & 3, these were cool games and there's definitely potental for a good moveset, but I don't see why Nintendo would even bother making a whole new character after the game's release. What's the point?

Ice Climbers will have their Mewtwo / Dr. Mario moment in the next game, as well as possibly Wolf.
Lucas probably wouldn't be relevant enough anymore by that point to be worth considering, sadly.

This leak honestly looks very different to the render we saw in the 50 Facts.

While I doubt this could be the final Mewtwo render, they did for some reason bother to show a [url=http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2014/10/mewtwo.jpg]low-res version of the render for the 3DS version alongside the Wii U version[/url], which for me makes it feel more finalized in my mind.

They need to be way thinner IMO, but maybe it's just a bad shot and they're not as dramatic when you're actually playing as him. Or the picture makes his skin color look off.
