Make figures first, then make NFC-imbued cards (Nintendo may do this in the future anyway) for those who just want the character.
The upside to this is that rather than being unable to buy the character(s) after the in-game shop eventually closes, as long as you have the physical thing to unlock it, you can unlock it, forever.
And the massive downside is that rather than being able to buy characters in the eShop, you'll never be able to buy it ever once physical stocks run out (which is incredibly common if the Amiibo situation hasn't tipped you off yet).
Also by the time to eShop closes we'll be on the next generation of Nintendo hardware. It took a long while for services such as DS Wifi to shut down, what makes you think that the eShop of the current generation is going anywhere anytime soon? Especially when you're solution is the even more-limited idea of physical goods.
I doubt they're gonna do the amiibo DLC thing. It would be cool if every amiibo DLC character came with it's own code to download it though. Though if they did, they'll sell it in the eShop as well.

Again, figures first, incredibly easy to hyper-mass-produce cards second. There would be no shortage until they stop producing them entirely.
Why do leakers have the best dates for their leaks
We got the big leak on 9/11, now we get the DLC leak on Valentines Day
Hope for Snake has returned, please bring him and Shadow Moses Island back
The figures themselves are the most difficult and expensive part of the amiibo to make. Putting out cards with the NFC guts would cut 90% of the cost of manufacture and ~98% of the materials needed, meaning they can make hundreds of times more.
This is why I don't think an amiibo-based DLC system would be as bad as people say/think.

No.
eShop first. This is how you get DLC
Amiibo's second. This is how you get an unplayable FP fighter. If you want to play as the character, see eShop.
Cards last. In the event that Amiibos are entirely out of stock.
You're thinking under the pretense that Amiibos unlock DLC. While cool, it'll just become a jungle of trying to figure out how things should be priced in order to make things fair for people who have and don't have the DLC already, as well as people who'd be bringing the figure with them to a system that does not have the DLC, such as to a friend's house.
If only they'd leak Globox too, then I could die happy.
The unlock would be tied to the account the amiibo is registered to. If you bring it to a friend's house, using it temporarily opens that character up for them too.
That's already a bonus over straight-up DLC.

Having to buy physical download codes instead of buying them online sounds incredibly dumb to me, there's nothing it would have over online distribution that way.

Ehh that one seems real fake. Blurry, icon ripped straight from Brawl, and when has mario had a frown on his fake? 0/10 gg.

That just looks like a shopped Dr. Mario.
So since Rayman has pretty much been confirmed as DLC now, what music tracks do you hope from the Rayman series are in the game?
I hope we get some music from Rayman 2 (also known as Rayman 64). Here are a few of my choices:

That's REALLY grasping at straws. The only thing this has going for it is the picture quality. Could've just opened a picture and played the theme. This is coming from someone who is completely onboard for this and is hyped as shit
Yeah I agree.
I won't sleep tonight until we get a gameplay upload.

While I am in the camp of "Rayman is probably in smash", this video does nothing for us. Wake me up when gameplay arrives.

With your idea, the price would need to be higher in order to compensate for the fact that I'd be purchasing 2 things. Tell me how that's fair to me if I already have the DLC purchased, now I'm just shelling out more money for something that I already have. While it's possible for them to deposit the extra funds into my eShop wallet, what if I want that money to be cash? Maybe I don't want things in my eShop wallet and I'd rather buy myself some lunch. If I go in and expect an Amiibo to be priced at 13 USD like the others and it turns out that it's more like 20, why would I rather be losing 7 of my dollars by committing it to something that perhaps I don't want to buy. Yeah I could spend those 7 on something enticing on the eShop, but a consumer that's forced to do that is not going to be as happy of a consumer if they were given the option to freely spend that 7 dollars on anything and not just eShop only. It's like buying a Best Buy gift card and being told that it can only be used on Apple products.
fucking rayman? ubisoft's done nothing but take big soggy shits on nintendo all generation. jesus christ what is this
also since no one else posted this yet

Rayman 3 also had its share of good soundtracks.

Get hyped.
Something about this Rayman leak feels really suspect to me. How did he get ahold of this? It's not as if the ESRB would get a copy of the DLC because DLC isn't rated. Was it just in the files, why hasn't anyone else found it? Why didn't he select the character, it's not as if he's pressed for time; he was able to videotape the menu. Furthermore, if he was able to unlock the character, why hasn't he been able to show us him in battle?
I dunno'. What we've seen thus far is pretty convincing, but if this is real he is going out of his way to not produce any definitive evidence.

Ah good, I need a 20+ minute Gamexplain video to make sense of this all for me
I dunno I like hearing their opinions on things, they're just nice to tune into while doing other things. That's how I treat it, anyways; pretty much like any podcast. They're mostly for background noise and not full attention.
If they add another Namco character to represent something outside of arcade, who would you want it to be?
