I didn't think I'd get to have this feeling of wonder and excitement again so soon.
I love it.
Man I'd fucking love a remake of melee's intro video
It'd fit so well with amiibos
If we actually are getting proper DLC, and not just Mewtwo, there is no excuse for not adding 'cut' characters, like Ice-Climbers for the Wii U version at least.
Though, my true hopes are for Snake/Big Boss, and Wonder Red.
like Ice-Climbers for the Wii U version at least.
Then there's version discrepancies in terms of characters and there would be no reason to play smash 3ds over wii u.
If anything they should just figure out how to make it work on 3ds then to leave them only on wii u.
To be honest, and I own both versions, but who fucking cares? The 3DS version was always going to be an inferior version, in terms of content, stages, music, trophies, everything. They didn't even make it the 'single-player' version as it doesn't have event mode or... any real significant singleplayer content.
It doesn't matter what people think SHOULD happen, the fact of the matter is that it's not GOING to happen.
Stop.
To be honest, and I own both versions, but who fucking cares?
the people who don't own both versions?
But there was already differences in content anyways.
anyone 1v1?

Tbh that's already the case. As someone who owns both I literally never touch Smash Bros 3DS unless I'm on-the-go. And why would I?
What they don't want is a difference in metagame.
Again, they aren't going to change their stance on this. It's been stated and re-stated numerous times.
Tbh that's already the case. As someone who owns both I literally never touch Smash Bros 3DS unless I'm on-the-go. And why would I?
There's some people who don't have a wii u and don't have smash you know
smash 3ds is for convenience and if they change the way the game is in terms of combat (gamemodes and stages discluded) then there would be a obvious superior version in terms of that, and they don't want that
What they don't want is a difference in metagame.
The metagames are going to be different inherently by the drastically different stage rosters between the 3DS version and Wii U version and the lack of a c-stick for most players on the former.
There's some people who don't have a wii u and don't have smash you know
That's not my point though. You said "no reason to play 3DS over Wii U" which implies the subject matter owns both. If you only own the 3DS version then you obviously have a reason to play it over the Wii U version lol
The metagames are going to be different inherently by the drastically different stage rosters between the 3DS version and Wii U version and the difference in button layout options available.
most people play final destination anyways
and if that was the case I'd think 3ds is better in terms of "good" stages
That's great, I get it, but I don't see the issue when the system literally couldn't handle it, you lose out on nothing, and you're playing the inferior version anyways. There is no hiding the fact that Smash 4 3DS is worse in almost every single way (Unique mini-game notwithstanding), their attempts to unify the two was almost pointless, and it took away a fan favourite character.
Tbh that's already the case. As someone who owns both I literally never touch Smash Bros 3DS unless I'm on-the-go. And why would I?
As someone who owns both version, I play Smash Run a lot more than I play Smash Tour.
Again, why are we arguing about this for the fiftieth time? They are absolutely not going to abandon the 3DS version, they have reiterated this time and time again in multiple venues. Even your best and most reasonable argument on the matter will do absolutely nothing to change this.
If you wish to continue, continue knowing that your opinion on the issue is entirely pointless, and is not worth starting arguments or sparking hostility over.
Fair enough, I don't know why I went into the argument anyways. Sorry about that.
By the way

Edit: Why late? I didn't see this posted.

It's called discussion. As long as people are being decent about the discussion then who caaaares? Like, we need something to talk about while we wait for more Rayman stuff.
Nothing is ever concrete in Smash Bros. There is so much that Sakurai has said in the past that ended up not remaining true all the way to the end. Be more open-minded about these things and leave it to be up for discussion, instead of acting like you know Sakurai personally and that he told you that he's not going to abandon the 3DS version. And even then, there's no reason to assume the 3DS version will get abandoned just because it should miss out on one single character.
If anything they should just figure out how to make it work on 3ds then to leave them only on wii u.
Most likely as Ice Climber. Singular, with a revamped moveset to work better for the single character (Up-B being the main thing replaced). Four skins for Popo, four skins for Nana, akin to the half/half gender costumes for Robin, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer.
That's the only way I can see it working, but of course I don't see that happening.
(EDIT: And I mean for both versions, to keep with the character synchronization.)
Or potentially change one or the other into a striker character during certain attacks, and double the power of the rest to compensate.
I don't like the idea of one game holding the other back.
Me neither but I feel like it has to happen
That or give the 3ds version an exclusive character to balance it out
I feel like different rosters would be the crest of a very steep slippery slope.
There is a competitive scene for both currently. Doing this would kill one permanently.
Me neither but I feel like it has to happen

That would only make the issue worse. At that point you are forcing people to buy both games to get the full experience. You can get the Wii U version for the more polished, expanded experience. Or you can get the 3DS version for the convenience of playing Smash on-the-go. Adding another character to the Wii U version doesn't change the purpose of both games.
Also are we really going to have more 3DS tournaments? I mean, if someone really likes the 3DS controls they can still use them on the Wii U version. Most, if not all, of the competitive scene is on the version that has game cube controller support anyway pfft
Doing this would kill one permanently.
How? It's not going to effect the game that didn't get the character because nothing changed. People will still play their mains and it'll be like nothing happened.
But you're already forcing people to buy both games if you're basically saying that the wii u version gets ice climbers and people who play the 3ds version don't
It'd only be fair if they were to get an exclusive character to make up for it or as someone suggested a single ice climber, which would need entirely new movesets or damage changes.
And there's always a chance that the Ice Climbers break the balance of the WiiU version so incredibly hard that nobody takes it seriously anymore.
People are only looking at one edge of this broadsword of a topic.
And it all wraps back around to "the 3DS can't do it so the Wii U can't have it ether."
