I woke up 15 minutes ago, hopped on Facepunch and noticed 220+ new posts. This is contender for the fastest time my hype has escalated and then deflated in the full cycle.

Yeah, I can't be mad at this guy, he managed to pull off the most convincing fake leak I've ever seen and he didn't wait too long before outing himself. I'm super fucking impressed.

Yet Ubisoft is still waiting till Tuesday to issue a statement. What if NoA contacted this guy to rev up the hype with a fake leak??

Part of me hopes Rayman is actually a DLC character and Ubisoft was like "SHIT WE HAVE TO ANNOUNCE HIM HE GOT LEAKED" Only for the one picture to be fake.

Well all I can say is that the creator of the fake leak is down right incredible! To have that amount of skill, that could fool almost anyone due to how genuine the footage looks. I hope he gets some work out of this. As for the Ubisoft statement, well I'm confused about that; if its just a fake leak then surely ubi would have nothing to say about it. Perhaps Rayman was planned all along and through this 'leak' ubisoft is going to accidentally uncovering it. Who knows? Here's to hoping!

I'd like to imagine that he was commissioned to make a fake in order to drum up some panic/hype for when the real reveal comes barreling through. A man can be hopeful. But no matter what way you slice it, the man had some damn dedication to having his work look as authentic as possible while also being quick to clear up the air once it caught on.

EDIT: Also apparently there was a PM leak last night too but the only post about it was deleted, so I guess the hype for Rayman threw that one under the rug.

Guy is pretty fucking talented. Disappointed that there's no Rayman but god damn he did a good job.

I don't blame the guy or anything, but now I'm gonna be upset the whole day knowing that Rayman will never be an actual thing. God damn.

I respect the guy for coming out and not extending this, and I also think that this whole thing is extremely impressive. I even think Ubisoft got confused. But the way he is using this as a publicity stunt for his Smashified series doesn't sit well with me.

It would've been nice if he at least apologized to the people who he got really hyped over it.

There had to be some confusion for Ubisoft going as far as to scheduling an announcement.

The Ubisoft reaction is probably due to, as Ubisoft is disgustingly huge, someone saw it and genuinely didn't know it had nothing to do with their company.

My scepticism has paid off. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Rayman was at some point at least considered to be a character in Smash before Ubisoft started being dicks.
