The Japanese don't really get Metroid as a whole for some reason. Hence why it gets no love.
I have literally never been able to use dedede effectively. too much startup lag on everything
Exactly, which is why it's stupid hearing people cry for nerfs on him. If he hits you or outplays you you kinda deserve it. He's good but he's not super top tier or anything.
like any tall character, dedede can be easily countered by any projectile based fighter.

While it does leave him a bit vulnerable, his inhale can be useful to protect him from some of the stronger and slower projectiles like Samus's charge shot.
Though I agree that Dedede isn't necessarily top tier, I'd still rank him very high, probably higher than a lot of people would. His range is practically unmatched and his gordos are probably some of the most versatile projectiles in the game. These qualities combined with his great aerial game and the fact that his fully charged mech hammer is able to hit many characters while they're hanging on a ledge makes his gimping game nearly unparalleled.

Just bought Lucario and Luigi amiibos. I may have them duel when I get around training them against some more annoying mains like ZSS and Little Mac, also Captain Falcon and his irritating speed.
Tips against hyperoffensive C.Falcons? I've found that exploiting their chase game with spot and air dodges leaves openings that can really be abused.

Yeah, that's why I use white DK to :v:

GO FOR SNO CONE??
How usable is the c stick in the new 3ds? I want to pick one up, but XL is too expensive.
Speaking of color palletes what's up with with all the pink Capitain Falcon's I have seen lately? Almost every Falcon main I see uses this or the blood Falcon one.
Personally me I stick with my favorite color for my characters. Major circuit mac ( the blue one), Blue coat Dr. Mario and Blue cap and overall's Luigi.
For those of you that don't know, a model port of Captain Falcon was released for both Gmod and SFM:

I love dedede, he's possibly one of my favorite characters in the game
Why did the team decide to include two versions of Pit instead of using a color swap?
Allow me to explain a bit about clone type fighters.
In the beginning, I didn’t plan to make any of them as separate character variations (clones), but rather as color variations like Alph or Little Mac. This was even if we were going to use different voices for them. However, any character that gained some uniqueness through their balancing needed to be separated so their results and statistics could be counted properly. It wouldn’t have been fair to have the results counted together even though their strengths differ between the variations.
Lucina was the first to be split off; this is because we made Marth’s moves more standard so he could be easy to handle by novice players.
Dr. Mario already had a clear uniqueness, so by letting this character throw the fireball in his Dr. Mario costume or by cutting out his clear uniqueness that was established in Super Smash Bros. Melee, we could anger fans. So we added uniqueness to him with a stat-boost mechanic and split him off as a separate character.
Dark Pit has exactly the same stats as Pit, so I first planned to handle him as a color variation. However, it would have made for a very strange setting for Black Pit to be using the Three Sacred Treasures, so we gave him a staff. One of the designers had also made the Electroshock Arm, so this was also another reason to make him a separate playable character.
In the end, what was needed for each of these changes was to reduce the work required to balance the game. Hence all these characters were adjusted relative to their clone.
For example, Marth and Lucina would only be tested against each other until they were roughly equal and in balance. For all other fighters, we take our results after fighting them against several dozen other characters. In fact, we set out on the premise that we would not include clone characters with this work. I can't remember if this has been posted before or not.
it was mentioned several times, last one was in the DYKG video

I'm not exactly sure how many people look on Smashboards but I saw this from yesterday and thought it was interesting, especially to see Pichu above Ridley. Must really be a more Western thing.
Image is dead both here and from the source, anyone got a list of what they were? I'm curious.

Image ain't dead though.

An image replaced with the url "http://i.imgur.com/removed.png" when sourced is probably dead.
But it hasn't been removed though
I fixed it and rehosted it.
Krystal is above Ridley
Wow
I fixed it and rehosted it.
Thanks.
Also, if anyone is wondering who "Arle Nadja" or "Jibanyan" are, the former is the protagonist of Sega's Puyo Puyo and the latter is the most popular character (a ghost fire cat) from Level 5's Yo-kai Watch.

I think the whole hype centered around Ridley died almost completely after that interview where Sakurai explained why he wasn't a character.
It's not very often that Sakurai explains something like that, and the way he did with Ridley really killed my hopes of him being a character.
Plus, I think Krystal would be a good character if she wasn't bland and sexualized.

I think it was also the fact that people realized it would have been Other M Ridley that we'd be getting instead of the more desirable Super Metroid or Metroid Prime Ridleys.

Yeah that's definitely something too.
We still got Other M Ridley though, unfortunately.

Krystal would be a good character if she wasn't a bad character
She wasn't a totally bad character, at least not until Command.
They completely fucked her up in Command, I fucking hate her in that game.
Unpopular opinion time, Ridley's design was the only thing I thought was out-and-out bad about Other M.
Everything else (long monologues, obsession with Adam, obsession with the metroid, etc) was basically a carryover from Fusion. Most people who criticize those things never played Fusion.

Those sections in Fusion at least didn't clash with the character horribly and detract from the game overall. They're very forgettable in Fusion but leave a bad taste in your mouth in Other M.
I'd argue that's largely (perhaps entirely) because of the fact they actually received production as cutscenes, rather than walls of text.
It's not a matter of which one is worse - because they're near objectively the same - it's a matter of which one you noticed more.

Seriously, look back at a few of those scenes. They're almost word-for-word in Other M's script too, but only that game got flack.

Fusion doesn't depict a textbook abusive relationship, it just talks about how he's a man she respects. Other M makes it really fucking weird in hindsight.
