(I'm not sure but I believe) the tournament legal stages in project M are the ones that don't disappear when you press Y on the stage select screen
tbh i've never understood, what are the players even doing during that process where they're X'ing out certain stages? doesn't one player get to decide what stage they pick?
tbh i've never understood, what are the players even doing during that process where they're X'ing out certain stages? doesn't one player get to decide what stage they pick?
you rock paper scissors, and whoever wins strikes the first stage from the list of starter stages. the other player strikes 2 more, and then the person who struck first picks the starting stage out of the remaining list of stages that hasn't been struck out. after that the loser of the match gets to pick any stage from the starter/counterpick list and the winner gets to ban 1 stage if it's a best of 3 but not if it's a best of 5.
So I think I found my new main HBox better watch his back, because I'm the new Jigglypuff around here
So I think I found my new main HBox better watch his back, because I'm the new Jigglypuff around here
too bad you can't buy titles anymore...
too bad you can't buy titles anymore...
Falcon's gonna still be my go-to guy, but if I need someone else I'll either pick Jiggles or Marth.
Like holy crap i went to ebay and saw someone sell an link amiibo worth 400 €. It was not even special.
Looks like custom moves are allowed for this year's evo. http://smashboards.com/threads/smash-4-evo-2015-ruleset-updated-customs-on.391923/
I'm glad, it gives much more diversity and gives a excuse to use them aside from 9.0 difficulty on Classic. Nintendo should make a easy way to select custom moves in the Wii U version like the 3DS (which you can do straight from the Character Select screen). Equipment is probably still a no-no, you don't want a high-jumping and floaty Ganondorf/Little Mac.
I just met the shittiest kind of assholes on for glory recently. Me and my friend were doing team smash when we came across the biggest dipshits we ever met. One of them was a counter spamming Shulk who taunted after every kill. He even changed his name to shit like "Feels~good" and "too~easy" Only used the monado arts twice to get that bullshit shield mode. Other then that all he did was counter. The other was a generic projectile spamming Link who rolled to the end of the stage every chance he could get and farted arrows everywhere. My friend who was Dedede kept triggering the counter spamming shulk getting both of us killed many times, and whenever I got to grab the counter spamming sonovabitch his pussy ass link friend would pull arrows out of his ass and get me out of the grab. Everytime I did get the shulk in the air he would air-dodge and counter-spam like a motherfucker. Couldn't fight for his damn life. I've heard equally awful horror stories about for glory and how annoying certain players are, but this is my first time actually encountering these people and they can kindly go fuck themselves. After that match we did for fun and we came across two pac-men who were friendly at first, but then they killed us once and pac-laddered till' the end of the match. I wasn't even mad, that was the first time someone ever did that to me, since I've pac-laddered many people before; I didn't even mind I thought it was funny as hell.
I love guys that do that. I was testing out Kirby and Meta Knight online and dude changes his name to "Get_Good" or whatever, went Dedede and 2 stocked him 2 matches in a row and pulled out the :^) and he left. Like how hard is it to be nice you dumb grognard. I'm just trying to have a friendly match! I even have a tag for people who beat me saying good job and stuff.
The reason I like Sm4sh is because it removes the exploits of Melee, brings back things brawl took away, and polishes on things that work. Also because there's more than 5 characters worth a damn, apparently. You can only look at so many matches without getting sick of the F trinity. Fox, Falco, Falcon. Rise in dodging is regrettable, but heavily punishable with projectile based, or spacing specialized, characters.
Bit late I know, but I think of it this way Smash 4 is the better all round "game" with all the features and fun modes, 8 player smash, blah blah, I like to bring it out when i've got company round and we just want to beat each other up with the funny nintendo characters Melee is the better fighting game, (The viable characters thing only applies to really high level play, a good player could bop you with pichu if they wanted) It's got so many options and you have complete control of your character, wavedashing/wavelanding/L-cancelling might be really unintuitive to a newcomer but if you can get over that barrier then the game is really satisfying to play, it's the same reason I like PM, it's melee physics with an expanded roster, not to mention all the advanced tech for each character, none of this was an accident, they're all coded in the game intentionally, calling them exploits is just wrong Smash 4 is just not fun to watch at a competitive level for me, it's personal preference but it's mostly just dodging, grabbing and getting a single hit until both players return to neutral and continue baiting each other out, maybe the meta needs to evolve but at the moment that's the winning tactic. (That and timing out, looking at you ZeRo...) Melee is old but there isn't another fighting game like it, (PM is only a mod, and Nintendo sponsorship at tournaments means no PM as seen at Apex 2015) and the players have managed to keep the scene alive for ~14 years so far, with a recent surge in popularity. Once again I want to state i'm not hating on smash 4, I was first in the line at midnight to pick up the damn thing (my receipt says 11:59 :v:) (I hope this made sense i'm very tired)
dedede and meta knight finally arrived [t]https://s3.amazonaws.com/pushbullet-uploads/ujyqCFHQApw-kH6WKK3PDZBmNTOOG065RKhDiOjUTHRW/20150222_171834.jpg[/t] they both look great
man, why's it always gotta be the black dudes who kick my ass at this game on for glory
My god, did a Villager mirror match in FG. Fucking hell it was so much fun.
any tips for fighting Rosalina as Megaman? the only thing u have working for me is metal blades going through Luma to hit Rosalina and crash bombs exploding on the luma on contact and also damaging rosalina. as far as I can tell, even without luma, Rosalinas up close game is better than mega mans, but she can just neutralize all my projectiles anyway. not to mention there's only like 10 seconds or so before another Luma spawns to just eat up everything I throw at her. it's ridiculous.

There isn't a real clear cut strategy with dealing with her either, so you're gonna have to get [sp]gud[/sp] creative. The only solid tip I could give is to try to seperate Luma as fast as possible and launch it off the stage. A tumbling luma is a dead luma, especially when it's tumbling off the side of the stage, as it can't be recalled to safety by the opponent. Depending on their usage of the projectile shield, you may want to prioritize an air game using shorthops instead of spamming metal blade and crash bombers in rapid succession to try and rake up damage. Basically prioritize moves that don't have a projectile component that could be easily blocked, aim for the grabs and tilts, and don't unshield too early from Rosalina's dash attacks (that's one of my shortcomings atleast). Aim to bait and punish if you can control the flow of the battle.
If anyone wants to smash I'll be in the smashpunch chat
I'm itching for some Mewtwo news. Hopefully we'll finally get some information on him in the next Nintendo Direct, whenever that occurs.
I'm itching for some Mewtwo news. Hopefully we'll finally get some information on him in the next Nintendo Direct, whenever that occurs.
I hope we get one soon too. Spring is almost here.
-sorry....-
Still kinda weird how it would take this long to make one character.
Probably a much smaller team working on him.
Still kinda weird how it would take this long to make one character.
They're probably not half-assing this stuff like other companies would.
Still kinda weird how it would take this long to make one character.
there's probably a lot of work going into each character other than just "k this is what each move is and the damage it does WE'RE FINISHED"
there's probably a lot of work going into each character other than just "k this is what each move is and the damage it does WE'RE FINISHED"
well you have to reconsider pretty much everything. Every move needs a rebalance, every item needs to be adjusted, you have to add new stuff like a Final Smash, create all the assets like Classic/All-Star trophies, add entries for the character everywhere, make it fit on both versions of the game (which is probably the worst of all things to do)...I suppose it can be a real hassle. Still, I don't see why it'd take so much time considering some work was already done by December. I still believe there is something else. In any case, the offer expires by March 31th and all Club Nintendo codes by June 31th (or was it July?), so there's that.
Wanted to give Marth a shot next to my other mains Zelda and Falcon, any advice?
Be very mindful of just how you position yourself. I know everyone says this, but it really is paramount in his gameplay; even his Ftilt tipper can KO surprisingly early against many characters. Use your Dtilt to push rushing opponents out, and follow up with an Fsmash. This is a very reliable way to get the tipper against middleweights when they're at low to medium percent, and it does a HUGE amount of damage, setting them up for an Fair in the process. I suggest going into Training, setting CPU to Mario, and figuring out just how far each attack pushes him back at 0, 30, 60 and 90 percent. There isn't a single observation you'll make from doing this that won't be helpful to you in some way.
I'm certain they're working on more DLC then just Mewtwo.
Also, it might sound counterproductive, but try to condition yourself to just BARELY miss with your swings as Marth, to the point it looks like it should be hitting, but it doesn't. Why? This will get you in the mindset of exactly how far away you should be when you start your attack, so the tipper connects by the time your foe has moved closer. If you set up exactly at tipper range, by the time the swing actually hits, your opponent will likely be closer than they were before, resulting in less damage. This is a mistake many freshman Marth make, and it really hurts their gameplay. Tell yourself that missing occasionally is worth the significantly increased damage output and frequent low percentage KOs, because in most cases it absolutely is. The fear you can create from three tipped aerials in a row is powerful.
I didn't mean to make my comment so dumb sounding, sorry everyone.
What's your highest damage percente without KO? I just survived as Charizard at %276 for a little bit in a team FG battle. Love charizard in team games
393%, also as Charizard, in Sudden Death. I was on a stage with a partial ceiling, and used Rock Smash quite liberally. Fun fact, if you time that move perfectly, even a bob-omb will fail to launch you.
Woop woop [t]http://i.imgur.com/LlldsXA.png[/t] I got every character added. Time to begin work on the alternates, and get removing a character in.
